The following came in an Oct. 31 email from Chuck LiMandri, president of the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund.

Dear Fellow Faithful Catholics:

Unfortunately, this is not a Halloween trick or treat.  Below is the announcement of four upper-division LGBTQ course offerings at USD. Please keep in mind that according to the latest statistics from the National Institute of Health, homosexuals represent only 1.6% of the total U.S. population and bisexuals represent only .7%.  Recent U.S. census statistics also indicate that transgenders represent less than one-quarter of one percent of the population.

Yet, look how much of its resources that USD presently dedicates to this small but powerful special interest group.  As you undoubtedly know, militant gay activists are aggressively attacking the reputations and livelihoods of devout Catholics and other people of faith in numerous cases around the country.

In the precedent setting JONAH case alone, in which we are fighting an army of some fifteen gay activist attorneys, and which is set for trial in New Jersey on April 13, 2015, we have already attended some 40 depositions in over a dozen states.

The goal of the opposition is to use state consumer fraud laws to force numerous religious nonprofits to change their view of the disordered nature of homosexual behavior or be forced out of business by heavy fines. While USD is working hard to further empower this special interest group, it has become by far the most serious threat to the religious liberty of us and our children and grandchildren.

Therefore, let’s pray that USD finds a good Catholic president to replace Mary Lyons next year. In the meantime, Trent Horn of Catholic Answers and I will be speaking to the four combined LGBTQ classes at USD in March on the Catholic view of human sexuality.  Please also pray that the Holy Spirit inspires us to help change minds and hearts as they learn, perhaps for the first time, of the truth, goodness and beauty of the teachings of our Church.
