The following comes from an Oct. 7 release from the Cardinal Newman Society.
The Cardinal Newman Society today published the newest editions of The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College and My Future, My Faith magazine, including updated information and new online resources. These new editions make searching for and getting advice on faithful Catholic colleges and universities easy for Catholic families. Both publications are available to read online for free, and printed copies are also available to be ordered at TheNewmanGuide.com….
TheNewmanGuide.com website offers all of the content contained in The Newman Guide and My Future, My Faith and more than 400 pages of additional material about the recommended colleges. New for the 2014 edition is a news feed of recent stories about each college and updates to each recommended college’s photos, videos and social media links.
In addition, and at the request of countless Catholic families, the Newman Society asked nearly 100 questions of each college on everything from Mass and confession times to what majors are offered, and from visiting hours in the dorms to a list of campus clubs and activities, and everything in between. Updated answers from the colleges are now available.

Are all of these institutions properly accredited by the relevant secular organization? Are they properly empowered as degree granting institutions by the relevant state, provincial, or other government?
If you click the link that says “28 recommended institution” and then scroll down on that page, you can click on each recommended college and they have a list of questions answered which includes their accreditation.
What do you mean by “properly”? They have the accreditations they have – which can be referenced as indicated in the previous post. These institutions teach, grant degrees, and have thus far been allowed to exist in an increasingly hostile environment. But if you mean “properly” as determined by each and every self-aggrandizing standard that secular academia sets for itself, your priorities are not aligned with the reasons these schools were instituted in the first place.
God bless you past tense! That first post is the reason why my eldest was bought off to that mentality and didn’t persevere.
Does that mean she dropped out of JPII? Would like to know what happened since we were considering that school.
Thank you CCD, glad you included this gem of information. This also has tips on dating on college campus and more….something to encourage a virtuous life.
I am surprised to see “Catholic University of America” on the list. Don’t they have both pro-abortion and pro-sodomite clubs accredited?
May God have mercy on an amoral America!
Viva Cristo Rey!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Mr Fisher I don’t know, good question? I need to know because I need to forewarn my friend. If anyone knows let me know. Thanks God bless you all. In the meantime, hopefully they will do their research well.
Gee, Kenneth, you might look things up before dropping the casual slander. According to the Newman Guide, “There are no pro-abortion or homosexual rights groups.” It was linked to right in the article!
Or you could have done a quick internet search and found this article: https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2013/08/princeton-review-rates-20-most-lgbt-friendly-unfriendly-colleges/ to learn that it was rated the 18th un-friendliest university or college in the nation this year, or that it rejected a “gay club” in December.
But why let facts get in the way of a nasty accusation, heh?
OK? Well I think that answers my concern from Mr. Fishers comments. hmmm OK then….but who would know, everyone seems to have their own take on things, like that Princeton review web from Brian S.
Thanks Brian S….glad to hear because when we visited Catholic University of America, we enjoyed their beautiful Cathedral and buildings. They are so beautiful. We were traveling up that area and decided to stop by….how can anyone not feel inspired to be good, they were filled with so much rich beautiful art. Even the churches near by, there was a Ukrainian church too, wow, very beautiful…they were all pointing to the heavens.
I forwarded this very valuable information to a friend. We can empower one another with valuable information…..
