A leading pro-life advocate is speaking out against the “Medicare for All” plan proposed by 2020 Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris, concerned that it would allow taxpayer funding for abortion.
Harris, a U.S. senator and former attorney general of California, wrote an op-ed published Monday outlining the specifics of her Medicare platform at a time when many Democrat presidential hopefuls say they support the idea of “Medicare for All” but have different ideas on how it would be implemented.
“Medicare works; it’s popular,” Harris said, claiming the system in place is “already working.”
“Now, let’s expand it to all Americans and give everyone access to comprehensive health care,” she continued. “Medicare for All will cover all medically necessary services, including emergency room visits, doctor visits, vision, dental, hearing aids, mental health, and substance use disorder treatment, and comprehensive reproductive health care services,” including abortion.
Harris said that if the plan were to pass, all Americans will have the ability to buy into Medicare, a similar idea to the introductory buy-in included in Sen. Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for All legislation.
But unlike Sanders, Harris said her plan would allow private insurers to offer Medicare plans if they “adhere to strict Medicare requirements on costs and benefits.”

Or, we can go with the Republican plan, in which if you are born with a hangnail you have a pre-existing condition and can never get health care.
YFC health care is NOT a RIGHT.
At least children in the womb won’t be sacrificed on the altar of “choice”! And the scare tactics of talking points of “pre-existing conditions” will finally be exposed and addressed rationally.
(1) This article is from Willow Creek church, a far-right evangelical/fundamentalist protestant non-denominational. But that is ok, except that the source and the writer could have been better identified. (2) The current Medicare plan is for people over 65 years, for the most part. But it does provide coverage for abortion if the life of the mother is in danger or if pregnancy is from rape or incest. (3) It is not likely that any public insurance plan will not cover abortion. No matter how much we hate it, it is woven into the fabric of the country, especially among the young who consider it a human right. Don’t ask me to parse that last clause. So yes, all plans will have abortion coverage, because the Hyde amendment won’t stand much longer.
Bob One… the luke warm He will spit out of his mouth.
So if it is all right, why did you even mention it, Bob One? And who are you to say what young people think? You are old. And there ARE plans that do not cover abortions or contraceptives,. Relevant Radio advertises for them. Just ask Patrick Madrid. And why should the elderly have to pay for abortions and contraceptives. We do not use them.I will answer my own questions.
The socialists want to control all the healthcare, so they can push abortions, unnatural, unnhealty contraception and euthanasia and decide who will live and who will die. In other words, they want to be God.
Perhaps I was a little harsh on you Bob One, and if so I apologize. It does seem, though, that you do not encourage the Church’s teachings against abortion and other things as much as you should by how you post. Perhaps I misread you at times. We are probably about the same age.
Ann, about the age thing: someone called me Sir this weekend. I wasn’t trying to say what the Church teaches, which I agree with, but what the culture tells us. But, words are important, so let’s discuss a couple. Socialism is an economic system in which the government controls the means of production and distribution of wealth. No one is advocating for that. Socialized medicine is when the government owns the hospitals and clinics, and employs doctors and other medical professionals. The Veterans Administration is an example of Socialized Medicine. The hospitals owned by the cities and counties are Socialized medicine.

Something like Medicare is neither socialized medicine or socialism. It is a government-run insurance plan for people over the age of 65, in which the enrollee can choose their doctors and other medical facilities and professionals, with some obvious exceptions. Everyone pays into Medicare, so the young people are paying for your knee replacement, skin cancer treatments, etc. even though they don’t use them. There is a real difference between not encouraging Church teachings and “reporting” without too much editorial.
