American children whose lives were ruined by gender-affirmative medication and surgery are resorting to litigation to seek justice.
The latest case to surface in the media is a 18-year-old Californian woman known as Layla Jane, who is suing doctors at Kaiser Permanente, a huge American medical group. They gave her puberty blockers and testosterone when she was 12 and performed a radical double mastectomy when she was only 13.
“I don’t think I should have been allowed to change my sex before I could legally consent to have sex,” Layla said on Fox News. “I don’t think I’m better off for the experience, and I think transition just completely added fuel to the fire that was my pre-existing conditions.”
Layla was a severely troubled 11-year-old when she self-diagnosed herself as suffering from gender dysphoria. Her mother took her to doctors who recommended testosterone and a mastectomy after just two face-to-face consultations lasting 30 and 75 minutes.
The lawsuit alleges that the doctors presented Layla’s parents with the false dilemma: “would they rather have a live son, or a dead daughter?”
“These are decisions I will have to live with for the rest of my life,” Layla said in a statement. “I’m ready to join the growing group of detransitioners so that no other child has to go through the torment I went through at the hands of doctors I should have been able to trust.”
Her lawyer, Harmeet Dhillon, of the Center for American Liberty, in San Francisco, says: “This so- called ‘treatment’ of Layla by her providers represents a despicable, failed medical experiment that grossly breached the standard of care.”
Ms Dhillon also represents Chloe Cole, another young woman who had a double mastectomy at 15 because she thought that she was really male. She says that she has received thousands of calls from detransitioners from all over the country. The prospect of a class-action lawsuit by these people must make doctors wake up at night in a cold sweat.
“Layla’s medical providers grossly and recklessly breached the standard of care in this case, and others,” says Ms Dhillon in an “intent to sue” letter. “We look forward to holding them liable for what they did, and together we seek to deter this assembly-line, insensitive, and destructive treatment of children with these woke, unscientific, and barbaric practices.”
Ironically, only a few days later, US President Joe Biden proclaimed March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility. “We celebrate the strength, joy, and absolute courage of some of the bravest people I know,” he declared. “Transgender Americans deserve to be safe and supported in every community….”

We have all known people who have struggled with self-acceptance, for various reasons. Of course, gender dysphoria, and transgenderism, is unusually difficult. It is the best thing, to learn to accept yourself and your body, just as you are, just as God made you. Good people with good values, will accept you for who you are– all you have to do, is be a good, trustworthy, responsible person, too, be friendly, and always be kind and fair to others. You will have plenty of friends! Even if you feel you are a “different” person for some reason (because of your religion, race, ethnicity, or physical appearance, etc.). You can always find good friends, among good people with good values. In America, growing up is made harder, by the prevalence of extremely false values and materialism, as presented constantly in the media. Kids who are deformed, crippled, have a special illness, are on crutches or in a wheelchair, are deaf, blind, or mentally disabled, or dyslexic, or anything unusual– often have a rough time, socially. Best to get help or counseling, as needed, for self-acceptance, and to socially adjust, and develop good social skills. That will help a lot! God loves everyone, and is ready to help everyone, with all problems, and show them the best ways to handle all difficult things in life.
Yes, additionally, many of the counselors sought are as mixed up as the gender dysphoria and offer bad advice.
Idealistic. Easier said then done.
Kids need to be protected. The case of the “detransitioner,” in this article is so sad! With good laws, this whole, sad story could have been totally prevented!
No state had those laws when she was injured.
THIRTEEN?
I just retired from teaching kids this age. Identity issues are natural for middle schoolers and a few have more serious issues than others, but to be pushed as children into radical surgery (and on parts not even fully developed) is obscene. I pray (1) they find healing through God’s grace and (2) a big-time payoff from their lawsuits.
I have wealth dysphoria. I’m not happy with the net worth assigned to me. I am transwealth and identify as someone with over $50 million in savings and investments. My pronouns are Monopoly Man and Sir. Society must affirm my wealth dysphoria by arranging for a wealth transition to my transwealth self-identity. This is a pro-life issue because you don’t know what I might do to myself if you don’t support me as transwealth. If you deny me my transwealth rights, you are a bigot. Transwealth rights are human rights.
Feel free to change your net worth.
Disgusting that Kaiser did this, but the girl’s parents must take responsibility for allowing it. Probably easier for the girl to blame the doctors rather than her own weak parents. Years of therapy on her horizon, she needs psychological intervention, and probably to be kept away from her parents.
The law (and the Almighty) both recognize joint and several responsibility.
A middle schooler could not consent to such life-altering procedures. This is child abuse on the part of Kaiser. If parents came and asked Kaiser to abuse and mutilate their children (in other ways), would Kaiser?
This is not to say, as others have noted, that some parents do not bear some responsibility. Yet, in our state, our Catholic governor and others want to abuse and mutilate children without the consent, even knowledge, of parents.
Kaiser should pay a heavy penalty and cease from committing child abuse.
I don’t understand why Kaiser was doing surgeries at that age. My understanding is that reversible liberty blockers were the standard of care, so that the person can continue to mature before permanent choices were made. Maybe they consider mastectomies to be reversible, but I wouldn’t.
This is an interview from a month ago.
It is important to listen to this.
I think what is a normal health decision for us (not to have surgery on healthy tissue, take no medicines that are not necessary) other people do not have those boundaries. It is easy to blame the parents but dealing with a distraught pre-teen or teenager can be so exhausting and bad information abounds. There are plenty of people who make money from this.
There is an interview with Chloe Cole on youtube where she talks about her childhood and why she was vulnerable to trans ideology. I don’t want to post the link but you can go to youtube and find it.
It is very sad but very believable.
I am sure if you saw the life and understood how others become transgender in their teens, it will become much more understandable.
We can’t make heroes of those who got out and villainize those who have not,
YFC, So-called “reversible” puberty blockers are not necessarily “reversible.” As a prostate cancer survivor, I’ve undergone hormone deprivation therapy with Lupron for two different periods of my life. I’m still experiencing some of the effects of that. Lupron was developed for prostate cancer, not little boys with gender confusion. Read the label, including its warnings. Those saying such treatments are easily reversible are pushing an agenda, not being truthful.
I wish you the best with your prostate cancer, hopefully it is in your past. Lupron is nearly a miracle drug in situations like these (and for some breast cancer patients as well). I too use Lupron. One of the things I worry about with the abortion pill being banned by a court is that drugs like Lupron might get their approval yanked by folks who hear that Lupron is used to pause adolescence.
Money Money Money
Jamilla Moore, VP of Student Affairs at SFSU, publicly sided with the violent trans attackers of Riley Gaines, after her recent speech– and praised the violent attackers for their “peaceful protest.” SFSU also blocked Riley, on social media. That is evil! SFSU should be sued!
Any parent who allows this to be done to their under age child should be jailed
