The following comes from a September 13 Washington Examiner article by Paul Bedard:
Sen. Tim Kaine’s Catholic bishop in Richmond, Va., has an answer for the Democratic vice presidential pick’s prediction that the Vatican will change its opposition to same sex marriage: Never.
In a statement provided to Secrets, Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo said, “Marriage is the only institution uniting one man and one woman with each other and with any child who comes from their union. Redefining marriage furthers no one’s rights.”
Speaking Saturday to the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s leading LGBT lobbying group, Kaine said he believes the church will change its position on gay marriage.
“I think it’s going to change because my church also teaches me about a creator who, in the first chapter of Genesis, surveyed the entire world, including mankind, and said, ‘It is very good’,” he said.
But despite his predictions, Bishop DiLorenzo, leader of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond said the church was unswayed.
“More than a year after the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage, and despite recent statements from the campaign trail, the Catholic Church’s 2,000-year-old teaching to the truth about what constitutes marriage remains unchanged and resolute,” he said.
“As Catholics, we believe, all humans warrant dignity and deserve love and respect, and unjust discrimination is always wrong. Our understanding of marriage, however, is a matter or justice and fidelity to our Creator’s original design,” he added.
He concluded, “We call on Catholics and all those concerned for preserving this sacred union to unite in prayer, to live and speak out with compassion and charity about the true nature of marriage — the heart of family life.”
Why can’t we get a CA bishop to speak clearly against the buffoon CA politicians with similar views?
Because they’re buffoon CA bishops with similar views? (I know, I know, but I couldn’t resist answering the rhetorical, Father.)
Did the Richmond Bishop direct his parish to publicly take back their priest’s foolish public praise of Kaine? Did the Bishop admonish the parishioners of that parish? Did the Richmond Bishop specifically call out Kaine by name? Did the Bishop direct Kaine’s dopey priest and pastor to refuse him communion and to tell parishioners about why they do this?
Until this happens, platitudes are meaningless and will be ignored by those in need of reformation.
Yahoo News just reported that two women were recently arrested in this country, one for marrying her own son and one for marrying her own daughter. None of them thought what they were doing was wrong since they were all of age. Of course that is still illegal here, but what is Hilary and Tim going to do about it if she becomes president. How low can the go?????
I’m with you, Anne! But how could the other side object to a mother-daughter marriage without self-contradiction? Same-sex unions are intrinsically sterile. The couple cannot procreate, so there is no risk of genetically defective offspring from inbreeding. If we follow the other side’s “logic” to its inevitable conclusion, then why could a mother not marry her own daughter?
Check out http://www.donorsiblingregistry.com for the truth of Children who know they have Two Parents – a Father (XY) and Mother (XX) – and may have siblings they know nothing of, and might lead to all sorts of complications.
Given that we live in an age where a presidential candidate can publicly talk about his daughters body and speculate that if he wasn’t her father he might “date” her, I suppose anything’s possible.
Although what he said is rather vulgar, he has not dated his own daughter. In other words as far as he says he believes incest is wrong. There is the difference. I wonder, though, whether Trump will back natural marriage between one man and one woman. Hopefully the decent, God fearing Evangelicals and Catholics are working on him about the Biblical teachings against certain sexual sins.
The Lord Jesus said, “God made them male and female,” and that the two shall become one flesh in marriage.
Correct: How low can they go???
I meant to put “Correction” in my September 14 post at 9: 56 pm. It was a correction to my first post.
And yes, Don Guillermo, when one trashes the Ten Commandments and seeks to overturn all that goes with them as the dissidents have, they no longer have a leg to stand on for anything. It also brings down on one all the curses that go with the disobedience, which they would deny.
Anne T, I read that also. That is so GROSS. What is wrong (mentally, emotionally, spiritually) with people? Please Lord, make it stop.
VOTE them out while we have a chance folks or it’s gonna be hell for us Catholics & Christians.
Praise be to God, this scandal ended well. Kaine’s bishop (of Richmond) made a strong & swift statement. “no change to marriage Mr Kaine” paraphrasing. Article @ https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/catholic-marriage-wont-change-bishop-says-after-tim-kaine-comments-32303/
Blessings to Bishop Francis X DiLorenzo of Richmond for a quick & CLEAR response. Thanks be to God. But will Kaine’s response be humble? Pray.
Article of interest from Fr. Frank Pavone’s wonderful pro-Catholic, pro-life web site.
Great reference comparing the differences on GOP vs DEM party platforms on many of the key issues facing the country. Found @ /www.priestsforlife.org/candidates/2016-platform-comparison-web.pdf

If any of you ‘deplorables’ want a good laugh, go to Amazon’s and read the book reviews for the new Clinton/Kaine tomb titled: Stronger Together. Rather then tell America what global hell they represent, they are selling a book for those that care to know details. Nice midas touch. Actually, they are TRYING to sell a book as so far, it appears that sales are slow. Oh no, I lost a shoe as I typed that………
Mexican bishop says he’ll evangelize in prison if he’s locked up for ‘homophobia’
“Jesus said, ‘I have come to bring fire and divisions,’ referring to the consequences of living a firm and real commitment to the Gospel,” the newspaper quoted Castro as saying. “The presence of Jesus in our lives isn’t a matter of indifference to us, nor to those who surround us. If it were, we would have to doubt that it was anything but a superficial veneer.”
