The dedication of our new Creative Arts Complex represents a milestone moment for the university and the wider community. We are honored to welcome Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, who will offer a blessing as we dedicate this new space.
While auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of San Diego (2002-2009), he was instrumental in helping us obtain Bishop Brom’s consent to start JPCatholic as a Catholic university.

John Paul the Great Catholic University (JPCatholic) has begun renovations on its Creative Arts Complex, 30,000 square foot building that will more than double the university’s academic space.
The new Creative Arts Academic Complex is located at 131 S Broadway, adjacent to its current academic building. Previously the home of Johnson Furniture and Sears Roebuck. JPCatholic purchased the property in 2016 using a $1.5 million gift from the Caster Family Trust and debt financing.
According to a press release from the university, the structure will be divided into two separate buildings: Cinematic Arts and Visual Arts in one building and Performing Arts in the other. A courtyard will connect the two, serving as a venue for community events, outdoor performances, and student life activities.
This complex will more than double the university’s academic space. Plans include a new soundstage, illustration studio, acting rehearsal studio, along with additional classrooms, computer labs, and more.
