JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, at an Oct. 20 faith rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin, accused the Biden-Harris administration of persecuting Christians and Catholics in particular….
“There are a lot of Catholics … [who] I think rightfully feel abandoned by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ leadership, and they’re just looking for somebody to protect their rights and make this country an affordable and decent place to raise a family,” Vance said at the Sunday afternoon rally in the battleground state.
“I think that’s true of a lot of Catholics,” Vance said. “It’s true of non-Catholics, too. But we cannot have an American government that is persecuting Christians for living their faith. We should be rewarding people and encouraging people to live their faith.”
Vance took Harris to task for her support for “suing Catholic nuns to force them to perform procedures that violate their conscience.”
The allegation appears to be in reference to Harris’ 2019 support for the Do No Harm Act, which would have ended religious liberty exemptions for certain government mandates, including for health insurance coverage. It would have scaled back the protections in the Religious Freedom Restoration Act so the government could force religious employers to include coverage for abortion and transgender surgeries in their health insurance plans.
Democratic lawmakers introduced the legislation to push back against the Little Sisters of the Poor, a Catholic community of religious sisters who were suing the federal government over a mandate that their health insurance plan cover abortion. The sisters won at the Supreme Court.
“I think that’s ridiculous,” Vance continued. “I think we’re a big enough country where we can actually respect the right of people of faith to live according to their conscience and not try to force Kamala Harris’ progressive values down their throat.”
The Trump campaign has also been critical of Harris for scrutinizing judicial nominees for being members of the Knights of Columbus and for a leaked internal Richmond FBI memo that called for an investigation into a supposed link between so-called “radical traditionalist Catholics” and “the far-right white nationalist movement.” Trump also criticized Harris for skipping the Al Smith dinner, which raises money for Catholic charities and is traditionally attended by both major-party candidates.
“Kamala Harris is the candidate of anti-Christian and anti-Catholic bigotry,” Vance said. “She brags about it. That’s her policy record. Donald Trump is the candidate of defending your First Amendment right to practice your faith however you want to, because this is the United States of America, and we believe in religious liberty in this country….”
“That, to me, is the grace of God,” he said. “I know in this room, [many people] believe that God sometimes works in mysterious ways, but he does work every single day in the lives of citizens of this state and of this country. I’m living proof of it, my friends.”
“But while we pray to God for recovery and we fight every single day for those of our loved ones who are getting caught up in this stuff, wouldn’t it be nice to have a president of the United States who stopped this poison from coming into our country in the first place?” Vance added.
Hundreds of people turned out for Vance’s rally, which took place outside of Milwaukee, the state’s largest city. Several people held campaign signs that read “Catholics for Trump.” Vance is a convert to Catholicism and noted during the speech that he was “baptized for the first time in 2019” and “returned to my faith as a young man.”
“I know all of you are praying for me, and I know we got a lot of Catholics for Trump,” Vance said. “I see the signs here. Thank you, Catholics for Trump.”
While he was speaking, one attendee loudly yelled “Jesus is king,” to which Vance responded: “That’s right — Jesus is king” and received loud cheers and applause from the crowd. This appeared to be in reference to an incident that took place at a Harris rally two days earlier….
In 2016, for the first time ever, I voted for a pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ Democrat, Loretta Sanchez, who was one of the two finalists for the Senate seat won by Harris. Though both were terrible candidates, it was apparent that Sanchez was not nearly as anti-Christian as Harris had proven herself to be. California’s jungle primary usually renders political parties and differences virtually meaningless. While Steve Garvey isn’t a great candidate, he is not the disaster that Adam Schiff is. Lord, save us from Harris, Emhoff, Adam and Eve.

J.D. Vance is a flip-flopping opportunist. Several years ago he was a dedicated anti-Trumper, now, because he has presidential ambitions for himself, he is contorting himself to fit in with Trump. This reply is actually for Daniel Gallup: Dan, thank you for your terrific comment about your conversion. It strikes a chord with me because my father-in-law was also a convert. Before he converted, he would drive his wife and five children to Mass every Sunday morning and wait for them in the car until Mass was over. He then decided he’d better go in and sit in the pew to help his wife because he felt sorry for her trying to struggle with all the kids. Next thing, he was sitting in the pew each Sunday at Mass and also volunteering in the parish. He said his acceptance into the Church was the greatest blessing he’d ever been given, besides the gift of his family. He became a Eucharistic Minister and remained active in the Church until he was called to eternal rest.

I was shocked today, to read in a USCCB report, that by the age of 45, in today’s sinful culture, 1 out of every 4 women has had at least one abortion, with family members, friends, as well as the aborted child’s father, participating in these horrific decisions, for child murders. This is far too shocking to me. When I was young, most young people were virgins until their wedding night — the first night of the newlyweds’ honeymoon, right after their wedding– which was almost always a church wedding. Marriage and motherhood were sacred. Most people got married. No one was allowed to “live together,” in sin. Almost all churches taught that birth control was a sin. There was no such thing as the birth control pill. We were all taught Christ’s teachings, that sex outside the holy sacrament of marriage is a very serious mortal sin. Protestants were taught the same thing. Only a few wayward kids made tragic mistakes, and the pregnant girl always had the baby, and usually gave the baby up for adoption. And next, she made a new start in life, desiring to sin no more. You never heard of abortion– child killing. That sin was illegal, a very serious sin and crime. Catholics were excommunicated for that sin. It is always a terrible mistake– with horrific, disastrous results– for a society to question basic principles of Biblical morality, and invite public opinion on such serious matters– these serious matters have already been long ago established by God, and taught to mankind in the Holy Bible, by religious clerics. Your priest or minister at your church, or your Jewish rabbi at your synagogue, must teach and form you and your family, in good Biblical teachings and moral principles, which you, your whole family — and the entire country– should be guided by, in daily living.

A civil war is inevitable. We are simply too divided with no hope of bridging the gap. I’m not going to be content to live under a Harris tyranny, should that happen. It’s already bad enough under the Democrat tyranny we currently have. I wish Democrats would go away. They ruin everything. Why can’t voters see that? Are people really that stupid?
You are correct, bad enough, that we are too divided. It will be difficult to bridge the gap. But we don’t need a civil war, and Harris doesn’t represent tyranny. But we are divided. Let’s fix what divides us. If abortion is the key divider, and it isn’t according to the polls, then we may have to agree to a compromise of some kind though I don’t know what that would be. If the cost of living is the issue, that is easy to fix. We are already at the lowest level of inflation in years, the economy is roaring ahead and the envy of the world. But, we can still lower interest rates but that has to be done slowly so that we don’t cause a recession. Housing prices can come down if we don’t all insist on 4000 sq.ft. on five acres. Food prices are high because the stores are raising prices faster than they need to. Gas prices can come down because we know they are inflated beyond the normal supply and demand levels. Oil companies and food companies are making record profits with their high prices. Too many of us were raised in the days of no inflation when interest rates were two percent. They don’t remember what the real cost of money was. Russia’s central bank just raised interest rates to 21%. We may not be the best country in the world, but we are better than what is in second place, to paraphrase WC.
Excuse me. I lived through 20% inflation in the 70s and early 80s. Democrat Carter caused that. Then Republican Reagan fixed everything. History.

Most people have an IQ of between 85-115. About 2% of the population has an IQ of above 130, indicating way above-average intelligence. Those who have IQs in the double digits– at, let’s say, 85 or below– are not very intelligent. An IQ of 70 indicates borderline mental impairment. Kamala Harris has demonstrated below-average intellectual ability, and that is why many of her own Democrats and American business leaders of all sorts are afraid to endorse her, and are wary of her ability to lead a Nation, understand and competently handle complex and dangerous critical domestic and international situations, and make difficult, smart, competent decisions. In times of crisis, this could be devastating.
We are seeing the Harris campaign implode as support for her evaporates because when she speaks she shows how dumb she is. Trump is going to win in a blowout that this country hasn’t seen for decades. Not quite the Reagan ’84 49-state sweep, but it will be impressive and Democrats and the media elites will be stupefied. You make good points. All presidential candidates should have an amalgam of high intellectual capabilities, including abstract, logical and consistent reasoning powers. A robust IQ and EQ are the best predictors for successful functioning in any job, but partularly so for those who aspire to attain the highest office in our government.
This is very unfair, but it has been reported that when Kamala Harris attended Howard University, she was given an I.Q. test, with the result of a score of 78. That seems highly unlikely– too low, indicative of a borderline mental impairment. Kamala Harris’ political opponents really make a big fuss over that. But Harris has been perhaps more accurately estimated by experts to have an I.Q. of possibly 110-120.
On Jan. 29, 2024, right after the morning White House briefing, White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre reported that President Joe Biden passed an I.Q. test with the score of 187. Everyone suspects that this report was false, merely political propaganda. Biden also boasted that he graduated in the top half of his Law School class– but when he next released his records, the records showed that he graduated 76th in a class of 85 Law School students. It is hard to get accuracy and truth from Biden, Harris, and many other political figures, today. Well, I always vote by absentee ballot so that I can take my time, say my prayers, by myself– and not feel pressured. The minute my big envelope of election ballots came in the mail, I said my prayers, prayed my Rosary, with extra prayers for the poor, helpless unborn children, and for the end of abortion, IVF, artificial birth control, etc.. And for conversion of all Americans to Christ, and for public renunciation of all the filthy, evil sexual sins in our country, and for the triumph of the re-establishment of Biblically-based, Christian Marriage and Family, and adoptions– and for Christisn Morality to be well-established in all of our schools, libraries, high-tech, all media and entertainment– and all institutions of our society. And for all Americans to gladly uphold Faith in God, Christian Morality, and good family values— and to gladly re-establish, uphold and obey stern legal restrictions on all immoral, sinful behaviors. Those things are constantly in my prayers! Then I went straight to my ballots, went first and marked “NO” on SF’s evil Prop. O (especially thinking of poor Abp. Cordileone’s pleas to all Catholics to vote “NO” on the evil Mayor London Breed’s horrific Prop. O), and to vote “NO” on Calif.’s horrific Prop 3. And I marked “YES” on the very necessary (but too-watered-down) Prop. 36. With lots of prayers! And then, I marked my box for Trump for President, with lots of prayers for Trump, Vance and the Republican Party to all be totally converted to Christianity, Christian Morality, and Pro Life. Then I completed my ballots, and mailed them back, and later received the confirmation of the reception of my ballots, and that all my choices were counted. There. I did my best, for God and my country.
