An unprecedented all-Hispanic evening of contemporary Christian rock/pop music complemented by traditional mariachi and cross-over operatic and inspirational performances by top-billing artists comes to the beautiful 34-acre Christ Cathedral campus, Friday, Sept 8.
Offering in Spanish something for everyone, the performance menu features No. 1 Latin hit maker Christian pop group, an ‘America’s Got Talent’ finalist, an acclaimed mariachi band and – Contemporary Christian Music’s newest international sensation – SIERVAS, the ‘Rocking Nuns from Peru.’
“The Diocese of Orange serves a large and diverse Hispanic population. Among this community are distinct Latin cultures; each with their own music and performance traditions. The decision to add a separate evening of all-Spanish performances to this year’s Festival pays tribute to the broad canvas Latin music represents and to the thousands of Hispanic Catholics our diocese is fortunate to include,” said Deacon Guillermo Torres, Director of Hispanic Ministries, Diocese of Orange.
“Here, in one night of stellar performances, lovers of all forms of Latin and Contemporary Christian music will come together under the stars surrounded by the beautiful campus gardens, buildings and lawns. With food courts, wine garden and other amenities, ChristFest 2017 continues its development as a signature event for the Diocese and region. It is our hope that Hispanic / Latin music lovers will come, enjoy and be inspired as SIERVAS, Mariachi Sol de México de Jose Hernandez, SonBy4 and Barbara Padilla deliver soulful inspiration flavored by the emotion and heartbeat of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru and all of South America,” Torres concluded.

Absolute love seeing a nun playing the drums!
Latin Singing – but No Latin Mass… I admit confusion
“Offering in Spanish something for everyone” — Everyone doesn’t speak Spanish.
“an ‘America’s Got Talent’ finalist” — So isolated, marginalized, and peripheralized they’re an America’s Got Talent finalist. Well, I guess in my world they’re in the shadows because I’ve never watched that show.
