The following comes from a May 8 story on OneNewShow.com.
Two brothers shown the door by HGTV before their upcoming real estate show made it on the air say that if their Christian faith cost them a shot at TV fame, “then so be it.”
David and Jason Benham said Thursday they were disappointed that HGTV pulled the plug on “Flip it Forward,” due to debut in October. After the network announced the show was upcoming, the lobbying group Right Wing Watch labeled David Benham an “anti-gay extremist” and reported on statements he made against homosexuality and gay marriage.
HGTV spokeswoman Audrey Adlam refused to say why the show was canceled.
The Benhams, based in Concord, North Carolina, had planned to use their experience buying cheap homes and renovating them in their new show.
“With all of the grotesque things that can be seen and heard on television today you would think there would be room for two twin brothers who are faithful to our families, committed to biblical principles and dedicated professionals,” they said in a statement. “If our faith costs us a television show, then so be it.”
They said that “anyone who suggests that we hate homosexuals or people of other faiths is either misinformed or lying.”
Right Wing Watch said David Benham led a prayer rally in 2012 to “stop homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation.” The group said Benham publicly supported passage of a North Carolina constitutional amendment that defined marriage as between a man and a woman.
The Benhams’ spokesman, Sylvester Smith, did not immediately return calls for comment about the lobbying group’s report.

If they can prove it, then I hope they sue! This society needs to put the pressure on those who persecute Christians! Time to act! Be not afraid and show the enemy the door out!
The more we are afflicted in this world, the greater is our assurance in the next; the more sorrow in the present, the greater will be our joy in the future.

Would they have cancelled a TV show that showed Muslims as hard working, talented and intelligent? Not likely, Christians are the only religious groups that can be slandered and discriminated against. I think it’s time that someone, such as the Benham brothers, sues businesses like HGTV for religious discrimination. It seems to be open season on Christians. Such un-American treatment must be stopped, the sooner the better. If we allow it to continue, it will only get worse.
Lol. We vilify and discrim are against other religions all the time. The history since 9-11 is one of institutionalize discrimination against people who do not look like Christians. We have even discriminated against Christians who look like they might be Muslim or Sikh.
This is nothing new.
The best recourse would be to ban discrimination against all religious groups, sexual identities, etc.
That being said, as a private company, HGTV is not blind by the Constitution and the brothers are not protected by the first amendment. I’m sure HGTV will easily be able to show plenty of Christian staff that did not suffer discrimination.
The real issue is the tone and wording of the brothers comments on sexuality.
“The world would hate His followers, not because of evil in their lives, but precisely because of the absence of evil or rather their goodness. Goodness does not cause hatred, but it gives occasion for hatred to manifest itself. The holier and purer a life, the more it would attract malignity and hate. Mediocrity alone survives.”
― Fulton J. Sheen, Life of Christ
HGTV has usually been the only “safe” viewing allowed in our family…..but then it seems they had to start putting on same sex “couples” as normal faire–pulled the plug on that show now too.
There have been gays on HGTV for years!!! Years and years. The design world disporportionatrly provides employment for a large number of sexual minorities.
Can the Benham brothers be bishops? Compare these brave and virtuous brothers to the cowardly Bishop Jugis, who is still looking for his courage (perhaps Oz is this way, Excellency). Just think — normal people who are willing to take it on their “earthly” chin for their belief in Christian principles. What, not pastoral? But, what about the hurt feelings of homosexual sexual persons? Waaaaa, sniff, sniff; unfair, discrimination, tell mommy on you. Gee, the Benham brothers should join with Rev. Hoye, another man who faced the Beast and lived to tell about it. Naw, I want to argue about that bad old New Missal, with stuff like “consubstantial’ and “dew fall” and “for many.” We are all saved, all our wonderful brothers and sisters (especially those terrific Sisters of the Perpetual Indulgence), no matter what we do; your made us Dr. Frankenstein, so you must bear all our sins, all the time, and then reward us. And those priest people that you told to go out and baptize all nations–hahaha, they are with us, not you, Jesus. Just keep away from those Benham brothers; too much faith there, too much belief. Try all those Catholic politicians instead, they love us, and their great clergy pals, like Cardinal Dolan and Cardinal Wuerl–never anything to fear, there.
Stealing Time and avenues of Media that could be used for informing the public, even if just by the example of good people living their lives well – without pandering to the partisan agenda of the Gaystapo (whether overt or covert), is just one method of using Propaganda to promote Evil.
Elections, like lives, are short lived affairs – and as the Benghazi & IRS Coverups have shown (like many scams before) – the longer the delay in presenting the Truth, the greater the chances of swaying opinion in favor of Evil agendas and passing laws that would not have made it otherwise – even if only by controlling the absence of any counterpoint for neutral observers to compare arguments.
Time is a River that flows in only one direction, and like eggs scrambled for an omelet the past cannot be reconstructed and the original beginning point regained, even if the raw materials for the dish were stolen and poisoned on purpose.
The partisan propagandists of Hollywerid (Like Rob ‘meathead’ Reiner and his pals funding the war on Marriage / Prop-8 – via the time tested ‘Archie Bunker’ pogrom) understand the use of this principle better than most – and whoever controls the information flow to the public has power beyond their own words – when they can Censor others who would provide a valid counterpoint.
This probably has more to do with their father, a Methodist minister with a long history of harassing Muslims.
Take a look at the kind of material he publishes. Here’s one called ‘Why are all Terrorists Muslims?”
https://www.operationsaveamerica.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Why-Are-All-Terrorists-Muslim.pdf
One of the sons (David) was involved as a spokesman for Operation Save America. They’re maybe not as bad as the Westboro Baptist Church, but occupy the same vocal fringe. All of that would be gossip/media fodder if the sons became TV personalities. HGTV probably just saw the image as a liability.
This isn’t simply “Christian beliefs”.
It may appear to be inflammatory, but in America we all still have the freedom to speak, whether we like what is being said or not. If their father has questions, and decides to ask them, that is his right. It may seem harsh, but he does have that right. As for HGTV, they appear to be “visiting the sins of their father on the sons” which is unfair. Whatever reason for their dropping this show, it seems that by NOT speaking about the reasons that they canceled their show, HGTV is making things worse with their silence. They ought to speak up, say what prompted the cancellation, and be done with it.
Siollan,
Your crude attempt at bait and switch won’t work. There is no comparison between a Muslim Terrorist and pro-Traditional Family advocates.
Viva Cristo Rey!

Would that all our bishops had this courage of faith.
I have blocked HGTV using my remote control from all TVs in the house.
We used to watch it, but when they allow gay couples on their programs and refuse to allow Christians to also participate based upon religious beliefs – this discrimination is unacceptable.
Me too.
I highly recommend blocking HGTV.
OK Folks sounds good but before you do that, I would also suggest that you let them know why you are blocking them? I don’t think by blocking them will take away funds either, so its best that you send them letters. Yes its a lot of work but the more we do it the more it will give a strong message to them.
If you have cable and even if you block them I think that they still get paid. So write those letters and maybe to their sponsors too so they will know that it may hurt their pockets.
The persecution by those perscribing the homosexual agenda, as described by Robert Reilly in Making Gay Okay, has begun. How one responds to it is a prudential judgment. But, is going to the corrupt courts, already ridden with the above, (see Reilly’s description of Supreme Court decisons) effective. or just a huge waste of time and money. To quote Hillary, “Who cares!”
The blood of martyrs is the seed of the Faith. So it was, so it will be.
No more persecution than Churches and schools firing teachers, administrators and speakers for being gay.
I though for sure you would stand up for free speech, here.
Just a reminder, Anonymous, these brothers have not had their free speech abridged. They can speak whatever they like on any street corner they like. They can take their case to the internet, as they have. And they can take their case to any news outlet that wants to put them on, as they have.
So can the teachers, administrators and speakers…and they have.
So…freedom of speech is preserved if there is somewhere a person can speak his views without being censored?
FALSE again, YFC.
HGTV is a public network. This is a huge difference from private schools.
No HGTV is a corporation, not a “public” network. The public does not own or control HGTV, it is a for-profit private business.
Christian persecution? That’s laughable. It’s an issue of a network deciding that it didn’t want to associate itself with two aggressively toxic extreme anti-gay individuals. They are extremists in every sense of the word, and are following in their father’s footsteps: Flip Benham. Look him up. These brothers are not just “expressing their faith” as this article would have you believe. They exploit their faith like so many others and use it to mask their vindictive and hateful behaviors. HGTV made a business decision; and these two wing nuts got what they deserved. “Committed to biblical principles” . . . right . . . “The Benhams’ spokesman, Sylvester Smith, did not immediately return calls for comment about the lobbying group’s report.” Duh . . . ya think?
Here we go again. Anyone who disagrees with these disordered sexual preferences is labeled ‘hateful’. Of course this makes perfect sense: to close down any rational argument that might expose the truth. This is nothing more than ‘homofascism’. The real haters are those who are engaged in intolerance, bullying and censorship.
Closing down rational argument. Are you kidding me? Cal CATHLIC Daily has gone on a witch hunt to expose people like Greg Cassian and the Bishop of Oakland is going after teachers in the Oakland Diocese just so that they can shut down debate.

When talented people are barred from the marketplace — so that ideologues can press their agenda, we all lose. It doesn’t matter if the ideologues are conservative Christians, LGBT activists, or any other group. The moment we begin using our social power to destroy the careers of folks who disagree with us, we begin destroying the variegated threads that make up the tapestry of American life…
Today in 82 countries around the world, it is a crime — punishable by death, imprisonment or fine — to be homosexual. In the majority of those 82 countries, it is equally a crime — punishable by death, imprisonment or fine — to be a Christian.
When activists succeed in barring their opponents from freely functioning in American society, they move us toward the darkness in those 82 countries. They uproot the ideological freedom and abundance that is America.
There are places in the world where it is illegal to disagree with the majority that holds power. Those are dark places for all minorities. Let’s not use the freedom we have in this land to silence or persecute those who disagree with us. That’s not tolerance. It’s totalitarian.
All those who try to affect the lives of the young in support of homosexual activity (through words or example) deserve to be exposed.
They are doing the devil’s work.
Let them go elsewhere other than Catholic schools.
Going after people? No, I don’t think so…it’s more like requiring people employed by the Church to adhere to their teachings. It’s as simple as that.
As for the ‘witch hunt’ I believe you’re a little confused. Tell that to the florists, bakers, photograhers, sports figures, TV personalities, etc. who are being hauled in court, fined, censored or losing businesses. I’m afraid the intimidation, intolerance, bullying, and censorship is coming from the gay lobby.
Call it like it HGTV is promoting – SODOMY, SODOMY, SODOMY.
And discriminating against anyone who believes otherwise.
peter, you sure are creative with words!! — “aggressively”, “toxic”, “extreem”, “extremists in every sense of the word”, “exploit”, “mask their vindictive and hateful behaviors”, “wing nuts”.
I only have one more thing to say. BALONY!!!!! :)
Perhaps EWTN can pick up the show.
EWTN’s programming is not about remodeling, or the buying and selling of homes.
https://www.ewtn.com/
Yeah. They’re more TBN or CBN anyway.
The Same Thing is happening in the US Military Today, as in 1930s Germany:
“Homosexuals were persecuted in Nazi Germany – by other homosexuals
https://www.renewamerica.com/columns/fischer/140513
Winger-left blowhard Ed Schultz got a mention on Drudge today, for sending out a Tweet that said, “Gay people were really the ones being persecuted in Hitler’s Germany.”
– What Schultz overlooks, perhaps out of sheer historical ignorance, is that the persecution of homosexuals in Hitler’s Germany was carried out by other homosexuals.
Hitler was seeking to revive the Greek ideal of the hyper-masculine homosexual warrior, and thus gathered around him homosexuals like himself to serve with him in his sinister designs for the world.
– Noted historian William Shirer, in his monumental work, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, observed of the “brown-shirted S.A.” that “many of its top leaders, beginning with its chief, Roehm, were notorious homosexual perverts.”
Adds historian H.R. Knickerbocker, “(Ernst) Roehm, as the head of 2,500,000 Storm Troops, had surrounded himself with a staff of perverts. His chiefs, men of rank of Gruppenfuhrer or Obergruppenfuhrer, commanding units of several hundred thousand Storm Troopers, were almost without exception homosexuals. Indeed, unless a Storm Troop officer were homosexual he had no chance of advancement.”
This is one of the more fantastical conspiracy theories out there… But even if it were true (in 1933, before Hitler’s power was entirely consolidated), it doesn’t make much difference.
Ernst Röhm was ordered executed personally by Hitler in 1934. Not 1944. 1934. He was replaced in his role by Heinrich Himmler. Here’s Himmler in his own words on the subject:
https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/homosexuality1.html
You don’t appear to even contest the persecution of gays by the Nazis. But obviously, it’s well documented. The US Holocaust Museum has ample information about it.

https://www.thepinkswastika.com/5201.html
“When the first edition of The Pink Swastika was published in 1995, the homosexual community was heavily invested in a campaign to equate homosexuals with Jews as Nazi victims in order to exploit the Holocaust for their political advantage. The primary symbol of their movement at that time was the inverted pink triangle, which had been used by the Nazis to identify homosexuals interned in German work camps during the Third Reich, and it was common to hear “gay” activists talk about “the Gay Holocaust.”
The Pink Swastika was written to challenge that campaign. Because, while there certainly were some homosexual victims of the Nazi regime, and a record of harsh public condemnation of homosexuality by the Nazi Party, the true, complete story of homosexuality in Nazi and pre-Nazi Germany does not in the least help the “gay” cause.
If The Pink Swastika were the “pack of lies” the homosexual movement claims it is, the book would not have influenced their “Gay Holocaust” strategy in the smallest degree. It would have been easy to discredit and disregard. Instead, how did the “gay” leaders respond to its challenge? They stopped talking about the Nazis almost entirely and changed their symbol from the pink triangle to the rainbow flag.”
I recommend everyone read this 5th edition online publication of the truth of homosexuality and the Nazis. This is sterling work by Scott Lively and Kevin Abrams, both of whom regularly feel the full force of hatred wielded at them by those who cannot stand the truth. They are true disciples of Christ.
NB. The online 5th edition is not yet complete, so here is a link to the 4th edition:

Worthwhile reading!

“Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Our Lord Jesus Christ, Mt. 5:10–12)
“If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.” (Our Lord Jesus Christ, Jn. 15:18-20)
You may apply those same verses to the many upstanding and moral gay teachers this website has attacked. The only difference is that you have defined righteousness to exclude them.
Personally, I look forward to judgment day. When you see The Lord weep for the things you have said against those who are lgbt, perhaps then you will go and sin no more.
Anonymous, have you been baptized?
Do you know the Blessed Virgin Mary? Do you know how to imitate her virtues?
Invoke the Holy Name of Jesus and the Holy Name of Mary.
Pray the Rosary.
“peter” and “siollan”: Your comments are riotous. Your anger and disbelief is not surprising, given the moral clarity of the Benham brothers choice to follow an unequivocal Christian belief. Difficult, when light is shown under the rock. It does homosexual activism no good to attack like Rottweilers when a Christian expresses a moral belief that does not include homosexual “rights” in the way that you like. The suspension of any ethical discernment is also evident among the pro-abortion crowd, which are increasingly turning to physical violence (see, e.g., the UCSB assault by a professor there against two young pro-life advocates). The Benham brothers, and many, many others, pick eternal life as the goal to pursue, not sodomy. You would do well to avoid ad hominem attacks on people such as the Benham brothers. Try to stop attacking the speaker; calling them, “aggressively toxic extreme anti-gay individuals” is childish and demeans whatever follows by way of argument. You know, a person of Faith, of good will, can take serious exception to homosexual sexual behavior and policy demands. Calling them names does nothing.
And I think that’s fine St. Chris, it’s well within their rights. But it’s also within the rights of others to hold accountable those exploiting their faith to justify vindictive and hateful behaviors against whom they take such exception.
What vindictive and hateful behavior did they do?
I’ve read the right-wing watch report and they complain about them protesting outside of abortion clinics and holding a prayer meeting outside the DNC and working for the traditional marriage amendment in NC.
They said they would take a homosexual couple on to the show, which was about fixing up houses. They said they do not discriminate against anyone when selling houses.
Anonymous, you asked what vindictive and hateful behavior did they do……….? They spoke against the unholy religion of LEFTISM. I believe that in the unholy BOOK of the LEFT, any sort of activity or behavior what-so-ever which opposes THE unholy religion deserves the severest of punishments!!!! :(
And that’s why Peter we are headed straight to civil may it come soon and may it last a long time
“Pedophile teacher abused dozens as clues missed
He was one of the most beloved teachers in the small world of international schools that serve the children of diplomats, well-off American expatriates and local elites….
That was the public persona of William Vahey, carefully crafted over four decades until a maid cleaning his home in Nicaragua stole a 16-gigabyte memory drive. There, in photograph after photograph, was evidence that the model teacher had molested scores of adolescent boys, possibly more, in a career spanning 10 schools on four continents.
The discovery of a man the FBI regards as one of the most prolific pedophiles in memory has set off a crisis in the close-knit community of international schools….
“With the sheer volume, the sheer number of incidents in which this man molested, it surprises me that somehow this was not picked up by someone,” said John Magagna, the founding director of Search Associates, the world’s largest international school recruiting firm. “I don’t know what went wrong.”
“It certainly bothers me that a person like that would be left unsupervised and obviously not tracked over the last 45 years now,” the man said, his voice growing unsteady. “I find it troubling. I guess the question is: How can the system allow that to happen?”

“peter,” you are being disingenuous. The homosexual sexual lobby despises the First Amendment, individual freedom generally, and economic determinism. Instead, your brothers adore fascism, the jack-boot in the face of anyone not agreeing with their views. The media, and individuals contributing to it, are constantly threatened — not debated — by the homosexual sexual lobby with demands for eliminating any dissenting voices — not tolerating other views. Your peeps are foolish to adhere to this approach, while demanding this and that accommodation from a overwhelming majority. No, you do not support any kind of freedom of speech; you just lack the present power to trample it down forever (although that is being tried by the Democratic Party and various attempts to stifle so-called “conservative” speech on the radio and in other media). Certainly HGTV is to blame, just as many media and entertainment entities are to blame — and mainline corporations, too — for prohibiting any Christian principled person from standing up for their Faith, if to do so somehow casts negative light on homosexual demands. No, your frenzied attempts to eliminate opposition has only made others more thoughtful about what is being done to our country. Oh, you might get a win here and there, and perhaps some big ones, but homosexual marriage will never work in America, will never be accepted, just as homosexual sex will never be fully seen as moral, licit, normal, and just plain OK.
Nonsense.
“peter”; “Nonsense” is not an argument; but, it is one of the empty retorts used by the blossoming Homosexual Fascism political movement, along with emotional rhetoric and a complete refusal to provide any support for its various positions. That is, except making threats, screaming, seeking to end businesses, careers, and the like. Take a look at the article about the Planned Parenthood bully who threatens to punch out the obviously dangerous older man who is doing the violent thing of praying and saying the Rosary. Nope, the Homosexual Fascist movement is being noted even by the “mainstream” media. The simple fact is that there are no arguments in support of homosexual sexual “rights,” except the very same ones that support bestiality, sex with children, polyamory (all kinds), that kind of thing. Go ahead, indulge yourself in the few years that you have on this Earth, but never make the mistake of believing that anyone (save other Homosexual Fascists) finds such behavior acceptable, or moral. Oh sure, some folks will grandstand and say it for political reasons (or economic ones), but all that can and will change as people express their innate rage over the moral insanity of what homosexuals demand (and Muslims, too, many of whom want the age of consent dropped to 9 so they can act like dear old Mohammed, but that is another story). The Thousand Year Reich lasted less than a dozen years; guess that does not leave you much time after all.
Nonsense. Succinct and to the point.
Vacant and empty.
Yes, that too.
St, Chris your response pretty much sums the “gay community” but may I add the word vain…
But there’s the rub. I’m gay and I don’t care what you think. I do care and will push back when you try to legislate your views. Shout all you want about you understanding of morality, but don’t try to use it to achieve my disenfranchisement. You are perfectly entitled to believe that my lifestyle is immoral. If you don’t like, don’t participate in it. I don’t think your lifestyle is moral, but I’m not trying to stop you from being ungodly with your words.
“Anonymous”: Be honest. You and other homosexual sexual bloggers want one thing — acceptance, complete and total. And, like Mao, believers in this position are not above –metaphorically speaking — getting their way at the point of a gun. You are completely free, right now, to actively engage in homosexual sex. Society is free to set limits on how it defines certain activities, such as “marriage” and other things. You are free to debate this, you are not free to threaten anyone who disagrees with you. Nor are you free to threaten an entire State (like CA and many others) that have voted on the issue of homosexual marriage and said, “No.” Having said that, is it true that homosexual sexualists believe that a heterosexual lifestyle is not moral (per your statement)? Well, there is the entire history of Mankind and all religious expression (except for some very modern Christian and Jewish turncoats today) to refute what you say about the “morality” of man-woman relations. Still, in the US of A, you are free to sodomize to your hearts content. But, keeping to the good ol’ US of A, society does not have to “like it” and can say pretty much what they want about it, and can deny various “rights” that you might want. Face it: homosexual activity, throughout the Bible, and history, is an abomination that cannot be reconciled with a moral life (at least a Catholic one). We all sin, and we all must cease sinning to please God and earn Heaven.
Hear, hear!!
You know, St. Christopher, I mostly agreed with your post at May 13, 2014 at 2:19 pm, in which you advised gay folks to not resort to ad hominems. You were right on, I thought. But then, in your post of May 15, 2014 at 8:53 am, you put out the worst kind of ad hominems against gay people, calling us homosexual fascists and equating gay people with either practicing (or approving of, I couldn’t tell which) bestiality, child rape, etc.
I think would be a good thing if you took your own medicine from your earlier post. And I think it would be a good thing if gay folk also committed themselves to strict factual descriptions and left ad hominems to whither on the vine.
There is a Third Way, as the video reminds us.
“Your Fellow Catholic”: Your advice is sound. As to the “Homosexual Fascist” description, it is not original, but is coined, and used, by a number of commentators to describe what happens, say, to folks like the Benham Brothers. Not only does HGTV drop their show (through homosexual lobbyist pressures), but others follow suit, either directly, or through secondary pressures. For example, SunTrust Bank stated that it was ending its real estate financing relationship with the Benham Brothers, based on such pressures. (Note: due to significant pressures from outraged investors and others, SunTrust, on Friday, reversed its position and reinstated its relationship with the Benham Brothers.) The point is that the homosexual lobby is poised to attack, and immediately and thoughtlessly, against anyone and anything, that makes any statement not in favor of homosexual sexual rights (marriage and everything). An organized power group like this is correctly termed “fascist” in that it brooks no dissent, and is never open to debate, and certainly will not compromise. Homosexual interest groups are most foolish to take this approach because it always backfires and, ultimately, is self-defeating. Any BlogSpot that brings this behavior up is correct, and not hypocritical.
GIven your description, St. Christopher, we could clearly add Bishop Barber to the fascists among us, as you write “An organized power group like this is correctly termed “fascist” in that it brooks no dissent, and is never open to debate, and certainly will not compromise. “
“Your Fellow Catholic”: Your comment is not well taken. You are discussing the Catholic Faith, with an established moral framework; it is not a blank slate, where are arguments have equal validity. Someone coming along and demanding equal weight to their positions, say, that Jesus was not divine, or that Mary was not immaculately conceived, cannot retreat to the argument that the Catholic Church is not open to debate, or change. That is why there are Catholic dogmas, doctrines, moral precepts, and the like (and a Catholic Catechism). Further, the power of the local ordinary is vast; he is not a politician and is not answerable to various interest groups (although the Faithful may, and should, comment on his lack of adherence to Catholic teaching). When Bishop Barber says that a teacher must agree to adhere to Catholic moral ethics or not be retained, and paid, by the Church, he is acting consistent with his duty as a shepherd, and avoiding scandal by employing someone that is guilty of moral failings (such as having a homosexual sexual relationship). No, YFC, Bishop Barber is acting like a Catholic bishop should act. Hopefully, his resolve to continue to do this in the face of popular opposition will not falter.
