Dear Pro-life friends,

Because certain people are trying to block the efforts of sidewalk counselors to save mothers and babies from the horrors of abortion, we are keeping the dates, times, and locations of where we are counseling confidential. The notes below may come from one or more locations during the week.

Report from the fourth week of June, 2017

There was a young girl in her very early 20’s who came with her dad, politely took information from the counselors, listened briefly, and went into the abortion clinic.

They came out about 10 minutes later and walked a short distance away, and  sat on the curb talking.  One of the counselors needed to get some more flyers, and while walking by, turned and started talking with them both for about 15 minutes, telling them about all the resources out there that could help, including adoption etc.  The counselor strongly encouraged her not to make a decision they’ll all regret, that circumstances will change, and the difficulties will pass in time. The counselor told them both about all the awful things we’ve seen with women going in for abortions over the years, and if she kept her child, she’d be celebrating birthdays (with grandpa…) and holidays, instead of remembering this day with total regret.

She seemed cheerful and listened and said she totally understood, and they both thanked the counselor.  Her dad was very receptive and agreed, but said they needed to talk a little more.  So the counselor left to get more handouts and returned to tell the other counselor what had transpired. Despite some prayers….they woman and her father finally got up and went into the abortion clinic.

About 10 minutes later, the dad came out by himself, and the counselor had a chance to talk with him again.  The dad said he didn’t believe in abortions, but his daughter had to make the decision herself. If it were up to him he’d keep the child, but said things were not like the “old days”.  “These kids get into trouble then don’t know what to do”. The counselor told him “anything but this option”, and he could still go back in and get her out, and we’d make arrangements to get help. He thanked the counselor again, but said the decision was up to her.  He politely said he had to go.

The counselor stayed a little while longer, then while in the process of leaving a few blocks away, spotted a young girl with a hoody over her head across the street talking on her cell phone. The counselor realized it was the same woman, and pulled up next to her.  She smiled and came over to talk with the counselor and said with a few tears that she “just couldn’t go through with it”…and was trying to get her dad to come back to get her.

The counselor praised her for having the courage to leave, and that she and  her baby will be blessed. The counselor told her about Turning Point, a local pregnancy resource center, where she can get all kinds of help.

Please pray for this young woman that she seeks the help and reassurance she will need to be firm in her decision for life.

God bless you all for your prayers,
