The following comes from a July 8 story on LifeNews.com
A Democratic state legislator in Nevada who has made waves for comments saying she does not regret killing her baby in an abortion is campaigning for Lt. Governor in the Silver State and openly talking about her abortion.
Lucy Flores says she has no regrets about killing her baby in an abortion and is taking that message to voters statewide.
Previously, during a debate in the state legislature, Flores, a Democrat from Las Vegas, made the false assumption that being a teen mother is incompatible with completing ones education or a successful career and gives that as the reason why she had an abortion and has no regrets about it.
As MSNBC reports:
In 2012, she testified in support of a bill expanding school health programs. As she explained from the witness table, her school’s failure to teach sex education had a direct impact on her family. “I had six other sisters … all of them became pregnant in their teens – all of them,” Flores said. “One of them was 14 years old when she got pregnant with twins.”
Then, with a nervous laugh, Flores told her colleagues something she had never admitted to anyone. “Since I’m sharing so much this session, I might as well keep going,” she said. “I always said that I was the only one who didn’t have kids in their teenage years. That’s because at 16, I got an abortion.”
Her eyes welled up and her voice caught as she described how she had convinced her father to pay the $200 cost for the procedure. She didn’t want to end up like her sisters, Flores told him. “I don’t regret it,” she said. “I don’t regret it because I am here making a difference, at least in my mind, for many other young ladies and letting them know that there are options and they can do things to not be in the situation I was in, but to prevent….”

Let us pray that God Our Lord will give her the grace of true repentance so that she can fruitfully spend her life amending for this horrible act she has done to her child, who will greet her some day at the time of her personal judgment.
Pelosi-Catholics never regret their mortal sins. Murder … sodomy … it doesn’t matter … these are veritable sacraments to these minions of Satan.
Some Pelosi-Catholics (whom are actually heretics and schismatics) in part exist because Diocese Bishops do not do their teaching jobs in relation to public scandals.
The Diocese main job is to teach, correct, and if required to discipline.
Souls are lost because of public scandal on the part of those who profess to be Catholic, and Bishops who refuse to do their required jobs.
See Canons 915 and 1399 regarding discipline.

Reading these comments helps me understand why Protestants criticize Catholics. The comments are judgemental, critical AND spiteful. Can someone remind me what our 2nd Commandment is?
Did anyone at school or home tell these young girls that sexual activity may cause pregnancy? After the first of her sisters became pregnant that should have been a lesson and a warning to the other sisters that a girl’s or woman’s life changes dramatically once she has a baby. Who will support her new child? Will the father support it? Will her parents support it financially? Are her parents willing to care for the child? Will she have to go on welfare? Will she drop out of school? Will men want to date her? This is also a result of the scandal of famous entertainment women having children and being praised for it.
This is very chilling. She is lying, she regrets it, if not now, she will later. I just hope she does not live a destructive life as the years go by. Most of these women lie to themselves and many head down a windy road. Some worst than others but all the same reasons. God have mercy, I just feel bad for the youth that will look up to these women, for they are misleading many. God help us stop this madness.
Unfortunately this woman is an elected politician.
She will not only lose her own Soul (without repentance), but also the Souls of others that she scandalizes.
CCC: ” 2286 Scandal can be provoked by laws or institutions, by fashion or opinion.
Therefore, they are guilty of scandal who establish laws or social structures leading to the decline of morals and the corruption of religious practice,
or to social conditions that, intentionally or not, make Christian conduct and obedience to the Commandments difficult and practically impossible.
This is also true of business leaders who make rules encouraging fraud, teachers who provoke their children to anger,
or manipulators of public opinion who turn it away from moral values.”
This woman is terribly immature! She has no moral conscience! And no respect for life! Obviously, her parents gave their daughters no moral nor religious training in the home, and no sense of responsibility! To heck with immoral and hedonistic “sex-ed,” in the CORRUPT, liberal American “schools!!” Why in the world did her father not insist on taking her to a place where she could have the baby she was carrying, receive proper medical care, and then RESPONSIBLY give the baby up for adoption?? RESPONSIBILITY is the missing word, in such ignorant women’s concepts of life!! FACE YOUR RESPONSIBIZLITY FIRST!! STOP BEING SELFISH AND IMMORAL!! Her dad owed it to all of his kids, to teach them CHRITIAN MORALITY AND DECENCY– and a SENSE OF RESPET AND RESPONSIBIITY in their lives!! After one has properly faced up to one’s moral responsibilities– then is the time one can begin other important things in one’s life!! The post-1960s have been a NIGHTMARE for our Nation!! The churches have all FAILED HORRIBLY in religious and moral leadership of their people! NO MORAL NOR RELIGIOUS TRAINING AND RESPONSIBILITY!! NO DEMAND FOR PEOPLE TO ALL GROW UP AND SHOULDER ADULT RESPONSIBILITY!! SELFISH “ME-ME-ME,” is all they live by!! HORRIBLE!!
Linda Marie, you are right that Parental Responsibility is critical and required.
Unfortunately many Diocese Bishops and Priests never teach the Doctrine of the Faith regarding parental responsibility from the pulpit,
nor do they encourage Catholics to read the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition” which contains the Church requirements regarding Parental Responsibility.
I am so very sorry for this woman—in so many ways. First that she was not protected and taught by her parents, second that she believes that killing an unborn baby justifies her selfishness, and third that she doesn’t “regret it” ( why did her eyes “well up”?). She’s in pain and denial right now, and one day she will realize the only difference she ever made is that her baby did not live. Perhaps, one day, she will be a better role model to young women and say, “don’t do what I did”.
I couldn’t agree more, Sandra. Her heart has become hardened in order that she can ”live the dream’ that is pounded into her through tv, movies, peer pressure, etc but if she doesn’t wake up in the dark, early morning hours with deep regret and remorse, I would be very surprised. As you say, her eyes welling with tears show more than her words that she deeply regrets her abortion but ambition and pride are riding her now. That all her sisters became pregnant says much about the parenting in that house. We’ve gone from one extreme (blaming parents for everything) to another (not holding parents accountable at all, but giving government the power). It’s so easy to go on welfare or get abortions that the young women or their families don’t have to face the consequences…only the children are made to really suffer. If she can’t be a role model, may she be a warning.
People always blame the parents. Sometimes even women like this, paint a deceptive picture of their parents, not until we hear the other side from their parents, we may never know if she is being truly honest.
Why would anyone believe a women who murdered her unborn? I mean really think about it. Sometimes in order to take off the spot light off of their wrong doing, they tend to magnify some of the flaws of their parents just so they can look like victims. Always be weary and watchful, don’t believe everything they say. They just say anything to make excuses for their wrong, its just a way to protect further their lack of responsibility.
Well, Abeca, I didn’t get the impression she blamed her parents. In her testimony, she blamed the school system. I blamed the parents. If I had six daughters and they all got pregnant as teenagers I can assure you I would certainly blame my parenting, wouldn’t you? There was no mention about her family life other than that her dad paid for her abortion. My dad would never have done that, would yours? I agree with Sandra that her parents obviously failed to guide and protect their daughters. One child, understandable…but seven!?
Dana thank you I must have missed those valid points. Its terrible that any parent would find it OK to pay for the murder of their grandchild. For sure that is a dead giveaway that they are not good parents, that is for sure. Very sad.
Dana I am noticing that adults today, many lack the backbone to really honor God and in how they raise their children. Today I met a young lady who seemed embarrassed by her mother, who was showing a lot of cleavage. The little girl looked scandalized, like if she wanted boundaries and guidance. and on the other hand, our friend, who has 4 kids, hate their parents for being too strict (that is what they call it) and they rebel against boundaries. My friend, I feel for her, she is an excellent mom but her kids, except for one, usually rebel.
Anyone who does not regret killing another innocent human being for their own convenience is truly evil.
Teenage mothers who are unable to care for their child, can give the baby up for adoption.
Unfortunately Flores from Las Vegas has no morals teaching within her home and/or her own Church.
Fornication is a Mortal Sin, and this should be taught to all aged 12 and up. Abstaining from sexual activity (while unmarried) must be taught.
Everyone must take responsibility for their own actions.
No Catholic should vote for any politician of any political party who supports the INTRINSIC EVILS of: Abortion; Euthanasia; Embryonic Stem Cell Research;
Same-sex Marriage; Cloning, or Sex change operations.
Per the CCC all Catholic citizens are required to vote.
Always vote for the lessor of the evils if both candidates support a few of the INTRINSIC EVILS.
In fact depending on how you VOTE, you may not be able to Receive Holy Communion.
“Worthiness to Receive Holy Communion, General Principles” by Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict).

Pray for this poor young woman. Ms. Flores is likely talented, and ambitious. Her desire to advance, however, and the unfortunate lack of sexual controls by her sisters, do not serve to support her decision to abort her baby. The local ordinary should also have a statement on this, as her statement, unopposed, acts as an invitation to support another young woman’s consideration to abort her pre-born. The bishop could — as he is unlikely to think of this on his own — speak on the need for (1) family prayer and attending Mass together (if they are Catholic), (2) sexual balance and restraint among the young, (3) remaining chaste until marriage, (4) the absolute evil of abortion, including the inability to “offset” this evil by some personally perceived good, and (5) confession and absolution of this awful sin (and why it is a “sin”). But the bishop will not do this, as he will be reviled by a pagan public if he does, not matter what he says. And, bishops are weak and cowardly (with some exceptions).
“Her school’s failure to teach sex education had a direct impact on her family.”
What a crock. Sex is driven down every kid’s throat now. So she’s blaming the school for her and her sisters’ behavior? Unfortunately, this type of person is the wave of the future in politics. She’s crying croc tears for votes.
“Her school’s failure to teach sex education had a direct impact on her family.” Do you really believe this? Sex is jammed down kids’ throats these days. You have to be blind and deaf not to know about these things before age 6. Is she blaming the school on her and her sisters’ behavior? Her croc tears were a theatrical masterpiece. Say hello to the prototype of the person who is going into politics these days, and getting elected. I have no doubt she will get elected. Maybe Wendy Davis can come in and campaign for her.
Furthermore parents should not leave sex ed to be a responsibility of any school or government officials, never. This women is using the same excuse that has been used for decades and still as this world gets more liberal about sex acts, she still blames this failing system that has actually undermined parents and has introduced sex at too early of an age now and its not just the schools but sex is now part of everyday language for all sort of media entertainment and even malls, parades etc etc. God have mercy!
What this woman lacks understanding is that the real issue is that kids are not being taught chastity. They lack a lot of virtues. It is in their youth that they can learn to be more virtuous because they are very impressionable young minds, to lead towards integrity and character but that is just not happening today.
Thanks for highlighting this woman’s personal choice to exercise her constitutionally protected right to terminate her pregnancy. Courageous & heroic for sharing her personal story.
PJT this is shameful for you to congratulate this time of tragedy in this persons life, I pity you for lacking the discernment and decency to comprehend that this is not something we should be” highlighting”! A baby just died and this person is calling this courageous and heroic. It sounds like the tone of the devil! Its not coming from someone who loves God and His ways!
God have mercy!
AC: How could you possibly presume to know that I don’t love God and His ways? Shameful that Cal-Catholic would permit such a personal and vituperative attack on their website. You are both forgiven.
Dana: the right to life is not one of the 5 rights enumerated in the 1st Amendment. You most likely are referring to the Declaration of Independence.
PJT you are fooling no one!
As for your understanding of the Constitution, ALL human beings have a right to life guaranteed by the First Amendment. Please show me where in the Constitution a mother is given the right to murder her child! Ity doesn’t take courage to admit to an abortion if you think hiring a hit man to destroy a tiny, innocent life is normal and a right. (especially if you’re admitting it a crowd of pro-aborts) And as for heroic, you’re sadly confused, pjt…choosing to cherish and protect the life of your baby over your own selfish needs and desires is heroic.
BRAVO DANA!
“PJT”: you are incorrect. the LifeNews story does not highlight this woman’s choice as courageous. Quite the contrary — her choice is factually stated, with its stark selfishness left for all to see. In fact, Ms. Flores should be prayed for, not praised. It is more than likely, however, that she has been prompted to tell her story a certain way, much like the then Georgetown Law student, Sandra Fluke, demanded that all of America pay for her birth control pills, as if having a steady sex life outside of marriage was both a good thing, and a “right.” This sort of thinking comes straight from the Nancy Pelosi–Harry Reid Democratic Party Brain Trust. Try to see this as a Catholic, and not as a political statement. No one challanges the “legal right” for Ms. Flores to kill her pre-born child, only that it is an affront to God.
St. Christopher,
Your above statement should have read “No one challenges her amoral legal right”!
May God have mercy on an amoral Amerika and His Church!

Odd how this woman needed a class to understand that having sex makes babies. Was she only introduced to her six older sisters who all got pregnant after she got pregnant? Was she deaf, dumb, and blind?
What’s next? A class on how to inhale and exhale so you don’t suffocate? But wait…
“She didn’t want to end up like her sisters, Flores told him. “I don’t regret it,” she said. “I don’t regret it because I am here making a difference, at least in my mind, for many other young ladies and letting them know that there are options and they can do things to not be in the situation I was in, but to prevent….”
This woman was capable of seeing what her sisters lives were like. So she did see. And she’s trying to make a difference in her mind because her sisters, unlike her, didn’t kill their children. Not even the 14 year old with twins, I’m guessing. That must cause Miss Flores a lot of regret. Too bad she doesn’t promote abstinence as that would prevent much more:(
Yes, Anne…abstinence makes the heart grow fonder! ;0). The safest, most effective birth control there is!
