On Saturday, March 23, the third week of Lent, Father Joseph Illo, pastor of Star of the Sea parish in San Francisco, gave a ten-minute homily on living with the coronavirus. He spoke of the quarantined seminary in Germany whose priests and seminarians are nearly all sick with the virus. He spoke of an email from a convent in Italy. “Only God can heal us.”

“I urge you to follow these live-streamed Masses. Follow them not only with your computer but in your hearts and with your bodies, with your soul, mind, and strength. Don’t just watch them on your desk with your cup of coffee nearby, with all your other devices on.”
There is a saying, ” Be calm and attend the TLM!
Well I have done just that since last Sunday — right in my own home by live stream.. I fasted several hours before the Masses, read along from my Missal and even wore my veil today when the Mass started, then did spiritual Communions.
After having a healthy lunch and doing several household chores, I went to a local park and said the Rosary while walking around it — a three for – getting needed exercise and sunshine while saying the Rosary for others. At the park, there were young people playing tennis, which is a great sport to play when one should not have close contact.
What more could one want in these times?
Oops! forgot to put the quotation marks after the exclamation point in my first line. I usually do not use exclamation points as they most often look like the letter “I”.
Remember, too, people that sunlight is a natural disinfectant. Daycare workers often spray the children’s play hats with Lysol, then stick them out in the sun for several hours to kill any lice that might be present. Yesterday the air was cleansed in my area by a light rain, then the sun came out — a perfect day for walking.
A tip to conserve antibacterial and Clorox wipes, is to keep a pair of scissors on hand, and cut the wipes in half if one has only a small space to cleanse, such as a laptop. I kept a Clorox wipe with me on my walk in the park to use on the handles of the lady’s room if needed.
