Father Cameron Faller, in charge of vocations for the San Francisco archdiocese, gave an eight-minute homily on Trinity Sunday, June 7 at Star of the Sea church in San Francisco. He began by asking if all religions are praying to the same God.

“My favorite way to explain the Trinity is simply to say that God is love. I dare say that only Christians in our understanding of God allows us to say God is love.”
I cannot forget a day in mid August in 1979 when I, a very great sinner, was nevertheless granted a Divine visitation while trying my vocation at a Trappist monastery. After Saturday night Vespers I went to my cell and there received a visitation our Lord so that room was so filled with love and deep peace beyond measure. Looking back these many years later, I marvel at the experience and thank God I had it as my life, like the rest of us, has had plenty of difficulty and the remembrance of that experience, in which I believe I experienced a foretaste of heaven, has aided me and has testified to the simple fact that God is Love, but a Love so profound its depth cannot be fathomed. This is the Christian God, and anything short of this is no God at all, but a human invention. Thank you Fr. Cameron.
One God created the entire universe. Humans worship that God in various ways for a myriad of reasons. This sounds a bit like ‘our God is better than your God’
mike m, the God Who created the universe is the Most Holy Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There really are no other gods which can be compared to our God, the (only) God. And, He is not just “our” God, He is for every human person. The Eternal Son of God, Jesus, did not come to earth to suffer, die and rise again as one option among many. Nor, was the Holy Spirit sent to us as one possibility. As well-intentioned and good as people of other religions may be, those religions simply are not true (though they may contain some elements of truth). Don’t take my word for it. Read the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. May we all seek God in prayer and grow to know more deeply the life and love of God, which He desires to share with all of us.
Hey mike m: “Extra ecclesiam nulla salus” – outside the Church there is no salvation. We Catholics still believe that.
mike m,‘” our God is better than your God’” The Catholic view of God is the true view , this is Catholic website are you shocked that we would defend that position , ?. Argue with a Muslim with that quote , an honest one will have the courage of his convictions and will let you know the position of his faith on this in no uncertain terms.
Bishop Barron recently posted his homily from Sunday, June 7th addressing the Holy Trinity. It is excellent, clear and helpful. Check it out on YouTube.
But beware of Bp Barron’s flawed theology. While at Mundelein in the early ’80s, he drank deeply from the poisoned well of Nouvelle Théologie. Remember Galations 1:8!
