The following comes from a Sept. 17 story on LifeSiteNews.com.
Sources in Rome have confirmed to LifeSiteNews that Cardinal Raymond Burke, the head of the Vatican’s highest court, known as the Apostolic Signatura, is to be removed from his post as head of the Vatican dicastery and given a non-curial assignment as patron of the Order of Malta.
The timing of the move is key since Cardinal Burke is currently on the list to attend October’s Extraordinary Synod on the Family. He is attending in his capacity as head of one of the dicasteries of the Roman Curia, so if he is removed prior to the Synod it could mean he would not be able to attend.
Burke has been one of the key defenders in the lead-up to the Synod of the Church’s traditional practice of withholding Communion from Catholics who are divorced and civilly remarried.
Most of the Catholic world first learned of the shocking development through Vatican reporter Sandro Magister, whose post ‘Exile to Malta for Cardinal Burke’ went out late last night.
If Burke’s removal from the Signatura is confirmed, said Magister, the cardinal “would not be promoted – as some are fantasizing in the blogosphere – to the difficult but prestigious see of Chicago, but rather demoted to the pompous – but ecclesiastically very modest – title of ‘cardinal patron’ of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, replacing the current head, Paolo Sardi, who recently turned 80.”
At 66, Cardinal Burke is still in his Episcopal prime.
The prominent traditional Catholic blog Rorate Caeli goes as far as to say, “It would be the greatest humiliation of a Curial Cardinal in living memory, truly unprecedented in modern times: considering the reasonably young age of the Cardinal, such a move would be, in terms of the modern Church, nothing short than a complete degradation and a clear punishment.”
On Tuesday, American traditionalist priest-blogger Fr. John Zuhlsdorf also hinted he had heard the move was underway. “I’ve been biting the inside of my mouth for a while now,” he wrote. “The optimist in me was saying that the official announcement would not be made until after the Synod of Bishops, or at least the beginning of the Synod. Or at all.”
“It’s not good news,” he added.
Both Magister and Zuhlsdorf predicted that the controversial move would unleash a wave of simultaneous jubilation from dissident Catholics and criticism from faithful Catholics. The decision to remove Cardinal Burke from his position on the Congregation for Bishops last December caused a public outpouring of concern and dismay from Catholic and pro-life leaders across the globe.
Both men speculated on the reasons for the ouster.
Magister pointed out that Burke is the latest in a line of ‘Ratzingerian’ prelates to undergo the axe.
“In his first months as bishop of Rome, Pope Bergoglio immediately provided for the transfer to lower-ranking positions of three prominent curial figures: Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, Archbishop Guido Pozzo, and Bishop Giuseppe Sciacca, considered for their theological and liturgical sensibilities among the most ‘Ratzingerian’ of the Roman curia,” said Magister.
He added: “Another whose fate appears to be sealed is the Spanish archbishop of Opus Dei Celso Morga Iruzubieta.”
Fr. Zuhlsdorf observed that Pope Francis may also be shrinking the Curial offices and thus reducing the number of Cardinals needed to fill those posts. He adds however, “It would be naïve in the extreme to think that there are lacking near Francis’s elbows those who have been sharpening their knives for Card. Burke and for anyone else associated closely with Pope Benedict.”
“This is millennial, clerical blood sport.”

The liberal revolt is in full swing. The hatred of the Church’s traditions, namely the TLM and the sanctity of marriage are completely unmasked. Now another liberal bishop has been chosen as Archbishop of Chicago. The days grow darker. May God have mercy on us. May Our Blessed Virgin pray for us. St. Michael defend us in battle. +JMJ+
Someone told me that Pope Benedict was forced to resign, and that Pope Francis is what the liberals all wanted in the first place. IF this IS true, then the Church is in real trouble. It is a well known fact, NOT fiction, that Gestapo type practices are being used on traditionalists, and that the liberals are free to reign as they wish. Be that as it may, it is terrible what is happening to His Eminence Cardinal Burke.. I just recently read where Pope Benedict was rudely treated by cardinals and bishops when he was in Berlin a few years ago. Some even refused to shake the hand of Pope Benedict. Since this is true, I believe the barbarians and Judas types have taken over the Vatican. For those of us who are traditional, we are going underground, so we can stay out of the radar and survive this new persecution. May God have mercy on us, and may Our Lady, Mother of the Church protect us from the wickedness that is quickly coming upon us.
With all respects Father Karl, with prayer must come action. I believe full uprising against these people are in order. Can you imagine the shock if we used the same tactics, some of things I recommend include the use of force I think that will get their attention. You will start to see the ranks SSPX swell along with certain Sede groups if what you say comes to pass.
If the Traditional ranks are to grow, Traditional seminaries need to be supported.
Father Karl I cried when I first heard. Only God knows how much I cried out to Him. Our Lord loves us and our tears are being noticed. No one said that this life was going to be easy. I had to learn that at a very young age.
I reflect on what they did to Saint Padre Pio, but the people back then stood their ground and asked to have Padre Pio back. I hope that those close to the Pope, that they will do the same for Cardinal Burk. If I had money to fly over there, I would be there finding a way. I feel so helpless that I can’t do nothing more but to write and pray, fast etc but I return to Christ’s words and promises and turn to Him in prayer. Yes much is happening in our church, much adversity but nothing new since it’s beginning and till now. It has taught me to focus on Christ and fix my eye’s on Him, I must say, it keeps us all humble and teaches us to understand what it means to be meek. To be dependent on His holy word and promises.
I feel sorry for the leadership that is not honoring God, they will pay for what they are doing to His church and His flock. I trust in His justice. We have too, we must endure. Its not always easy though. The moment we, out of free will, decided to follow and love Christ, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy here in this life. There are Christians in other parts of the world facing real hard trials, some have already been beheaded because they did not leave Jesus nor denied Him. So how will we know who we really are for, if we do not endure these horrible times. If we are for Christ, then expect much more crosses to carry in this life. We are His and He is ours. Some of us are put through the test much more harsher than others. Why is that? We must endure just like all Catholic Christians did in the past. What keeps us going is Christ and His word, His promises.
Father Karl the church has always faced these kinds of troubles throughout the ages, we just weren’t born back then during those historical times and now we are living in similar attacks against the faithful and against Christ’s church. BUT God is the ultimate judge. I pray that with this news, when I first heard of it before it was announced here….I pray that many who care will fast, pray and take some kind of action. I hope they join me in prayer and fasting on Tuesdays.
I have learned not to put my trust in men but in only through Christ and in Christ. Father Karl thank you for praying for us and for our Church.
Going underground to survive is indeed sad – but probably necessary.
God bless you.
Everyone – stay Faithful to the Bible and the CCC.
It is far better that we NOT go underground but as St. Paul TAUGHT “STAY IN THEIR FACES!”
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
May God have mercy on an amoral Amerika and His Church!

“Father Karl”: I respect your various postings, but I believe that you are incorrect on your statement that, with the Liberal Francis coming into full flower, Traditionalists need to go “underground”. Just the opposite is the tack we should take, it is respectfully submitted. Traditionalists should simply stand up to Pope Francis and to his lackeys: use the media — such as Michael Voris, and others, presently do — and the web to do at least the following: (1) establish a “contract with the laity” — similar to the highly successful “Contact with America” used in political circles; (2) establish media and web sources of criticism of unCatholic behavior (such as that shown by Cardinal Dolan regarding homosexual behavior); (3) advise our various bishops (this is the hardest one) that we are significantly reducing contributions to his favorite charities (there are plenty “traditional” Catholic sources for your money); (4) advise your pastor of the same thing (this is a variable depending on the Traditional character of the pastor); (5) demand that a regularly scheduled TLM be established at your parish church; (6) criticize individual failings of various bishops; (7) demand use of Canon 915; (8) criticize homosexual and Liberal group and individual behavior and demands on sex education, and the like; and (9) take on Pope Francis — yes, he is “different” as a number of commenters have said, but he is not to be worshipped, and can (and does) make mistakes. Always try to be respectful (although the use of sarcasm is fine, except with the Holy Father, to whom the highest levels of respect are required). The people that Francis is and will appoint are not, in the main, good Church men, but political ones. As such, they respect what ever moves, or withholds, money. Make this a prime goal, and they will listen. Keep in mind that, generally, what Francis brings is political change. Act accordingly (and pray, too, but prayers alone did not stop Hitler, bullets did; hand-to-hand combat is now required).
Hand to hand combat to stop the pope and his “lackeys”. How lovely.
Thank you St. Christopher for your charitable response to our faithful Father Karl. Your words are wise. Our Legion of Mary spiritual advisor used to say, “Prayers and fasting are the necessary ammunition and under the banner of Our Lady someone HAS to fire the weapon of heroic actions that are required. Without the prayers the power dispensing chamber is empty. “With God All Things Are Possible.” It was a heroic ACTION to start this website California Catholic Daily. Many prayed for such a website where the truth would be upheld and taught and lies exposed. God generously answered our prayers because faithful individuals took an ACTION that was initially built on the power of prayer.
Frances personally appointed the following Cardinals for the Oct, 2014 Synod –
Walter KASPER – who supports divorce with remarriage – and receiving the Body and Blood of our Lord while in the state of Mortal Sin.
Godfried DANNEELS – who supports homosexual acts – relationships/marriage; and who covered up pedophile abuse by another Bishop.
Archbishop Víctor Manuel FERNÁNDEZ – does not oppose same sex marriage; and does not believe that anything is non-negotiable – and everything is about “Love”
This is merely a sample of the Pope’s appointees.

The Pope’s attempt to silence everyone who does not support his social positions is reprehensible.
FYI – Today Pope Francis announced he is moving socialist Bishop Blase Cupich to take ailing Cardinal George’s Chicago seat.
.
Based upon their own words, Kasper, Danneels, & Fernandez do not believe in GOD’s 10 COMMANDMENTS or the Words of JESUS
as stated in the Bible.
Complete relativism. There is no right or wrong.
Tolerating, or encouraging sinfulness is not pastoral, it is diabolical.
He also appointed Cardinal Burke to attend it.
NO – the Pope did not appoint Cardinal Burke to attend. Please check your facts.
All the Heads of each Curia Department automatically attend.
If the Pope removes Cardinal Burke (Prefect of the Vatican’s highest court, known as the Apostolic Signatura), then if a new person is appointed prior to the October Synod, the new head would attend.
.
Also the President of each Country’s Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB in the USA, Abp Kurtz) will be in attendance, and werenot appointed by the Pope.
The Pope appointed 26 Cardinals/Bishops.

Al, there’s about 200 bishops on that list, representing the nations from all over the world. If only 3 of them are allegedly “bad”, I think that’s pretty good. Remember the very first recorded assembly of bishops? 1 out of the 12 was definitely bad.
Read the Bible and the CCC folks. Faithful Catholics are in for a rough time – PERSEUCTION from WITHIN the Church – if you do not support Frances’s political positions which are not dogma.
Pray that you can keep your Faith. There is coming a great schism.
Look into the other Catholic rites, rather than the Latin which will be polluted by ultra-liberal Bishops who do not believe in the Bible or CCC, except in those things that suit their political views.
Where man is the center of the universe, not God.
There is a possible schism/separation coming due to France’s “Liberation Theology” of South America – which is not supported by the Bible or CCC.
The Church will ultimately survive.
There have been 12 corrupt Popes in the history of the Church.
Which twelve popes were corrupt, Mandy?
Pope Francis is not waiting for the SYNOD in October –

Pope Francis signals – Do it my way, or else.
Greatest humiliation in memory, that we know of through holy scriptures, is what Christ Jesus went through for our sins. Nothing compares to that, nothing reaches close to that. I would hope that what this holy Cardinal is being put through, will only bring him closer to Jesus. Leaning on from what our Lord went through for us, we should trust better and know better.
For every opportunity, every humiliation, suffering we go through in Jesus, is a step closer to sainthood. What is our purpose here, is it not to gain salvation, to gain favor with our Lord? Is it not to suffer and endure. Is it not for happy and sad times? When we are close to Jesus, this will not be felt as humiliation, but it will only bring us more joy. At least, we hope to grow deeper in love with Jesus to receive those graces that lead us to find joy in every humiliation, in every suffering, in everything whether bad or good, if its done for the greater glory for our beloved Jesus, then we must welcome it for it is through His grace and our suffering, that in tern God’s mercy is shed on sinners and opens their hearts to seek God, through the prayers and sufferings of the holy.
The saints have said that when God loves you, the more He loves you the more you will be persecuted, the more you will face trials, all for His glory. Do people understand that while the wicked, the ignorant, the hardened of hearts, may think they are winning, but they are wrong, what they do not know what is good for them, they will because of the suffering of Christ’s few. With every bad thing that happens, God can make a bad situation turn into something great. Look what Jesus allowed Himself to go through, there was a purpose.
Abeca,
He also taught “Admonish the sinner”!
Francis is quickly exposing himself and his agenda!

Yes, Charles A, but one needs also to recognize those who need admonishment. Abeca’s post regarding being wary of Pope, priests or nuns who do not teach the Faith is a big step toward that acknowledgment. For while those on the sheep level need watching and guiding, those who are in the Shepherd position are often the ones granting the sheep the liberty to move about at will into increasingly dangerous territory. Hence the persecution of Cardinal Burke.
So spinning one’s wheels attacking certain sheep while disregarding the overarching problem with Church hierarchy is in itself an omission or at the least, a misdirection,
God bless!
Ann Malley, I would just like to politely ask you to stop. Please. Stop.
Ann keep going, guns blazing …..
Oh, if only we lived in the wild, wild west, Canisius. Yowza!
God bless.
Ann Malley,
Our faithful Michael McDermott, (who hilariously once asked. “Hey, what about all of those end cappers”? ) recognizes your “sincere participation.” and so do many others, including myself.
Michael was truly on to something there when he wrote about end cappers. Our Legion of Mary used to discuss that very important subject. Yes, it is a sacrifice to have to slide over when you have gotten there early but always better to show love and kindness to the person who is trying to enter. That simple gesture of kindness can move mountains if a person is just finding their way back home after having been away from practicing the faith. We all need to be reminded of that. Yes there are the exceptions of needing to be on the end but the majority should have enough love in their hearts for a fellow Catholic coming to Mass. We should be happy to move over with a smile. Today it seems that if you don’t make someone crawl over you that they are overwhelmed with shock and appreciation for such a simple gesture. Even if they are not appreciative and make someone now crawl over them. ..God sees our hearts. “Look at those Catholics see how much they love one another.”
Tactics are all in the eye of the beholder. AND So are misperceiving them. I perceive those repetitive as a Geico commercial Larry Brinkin reports as a way to expose the truth. As for the comment about your bowing down to Alinskite tactics to anonymously shaming the un-good into silence, I certainly do not perceive it that way. After all you haven’t been given the misperceived honor of earning an Ann Malley Bingo card.
An Ann Malley Bingo Card! Wow! Maybe someday.
As for end cappers, my husband a I were asked to vacate a pew in one of our first ventures back to the Church. I call it the, Woody Syndrome, recalling the, “This is my spot,” line Tom Hanks delivered as the cowboy in Disney’s Toy Story when Buzz Lightyear was found on Andy’s pillow. They learn by the end of the film that there is no competition and Andy loves them both. Methinks that’s a little of what goes on here. But the person at the Church who basically insisted we scram was dead serious.
Thanks for posting, Catherine, and for acknowledging sincere participation despite the shame suit. As long as there is the garment of grace, the rest really doesn’t matter.
God bless!
Stop what, Anonymous? Asking you to focus on defending the actual Faith and sheep? Sorry, but sins of omission are still sins, Anonymous, and I refuse to partake despite your obsequious manner.
The gates of hell may not prevail, but hell is at the gates.
Even if this story turns out to be true, you have still sinned by gossiping and listening to gossip.
All my life when I have prayed for the intentions of the Pope, I simply prayed for his intentions.
Not any more. I now pray for – ” the intentions of the Pope that are in accord with God’s will”.
I think it may be time to start praying for the conversion of the Pope.
How about praying for your own conversion first?
Rodney, that is a great idea! We all should pray for the conversion of the Pope, and also, his bishops and Cardinals, to the True Catholic Faith!! Also it is true, that when we must pray for the Pope’s intentions, we might perhaps add, “if this is truly the will of God!” I am so HEARTSICK over what happened to Cardinal Burke– I could just CRY!! Especially, with the upcoming Synod, in October!! GOD HELP US!! I COULLD JUST CRY!!
Anonymous, are you now writing your own catechism now? The word “gossip” is not in the CCC.
I guess with all the encouraged relativism (no right or wrong) everyone will be able to make up their own catechism pretty soon.
Anything goes ? ? ?
Strange enough the Countries and Diocese where the heretical Cardinals are from – have the lost the most Catholics – which means that if the Church wants to lose more Catholics – they should follow the advice of Kasper and Danneels because they have no clue on how to hold and bring more people into the Church. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.
Ted, I am not sure how old you are but it has always been the teaching that gossip is a sin. It is in Scripture and Tradition.
The word “gossip” is not in the CCC. It uses the terms calumny and detraction. It is
Here is just one source that explains:

The Pope has made his own statements and actions public. They are not gossip.
The TRUTH is not “careless words” nor “gossip”.
Gossip is a sin, but not when it’s done by those who serve Kasper, right?
lol good point juergensen. Love your simple and direct responses. God bless you.
anonymous, You were clever to remove your single alphabet letter name. You had to in order to cleverly attempt to work both sides. It looks like the same duplicity is rearing it’s inconsistent side again.
Why then did you *selectively gossip* about Father Guarnizo and Father Michael Rodriguez? Those are the two courageous priest who upheld Church teaching regarding homosexuality. Don’t bother responding. We already know the answer. It has become obvious that you just needed a little reminder that your tactics are quite transparent.
Once again Catherine imagines every anonymous to be her nemesis k. It must be a frightful thing to see k around every corner! You really just won’t let that wound heal, will you Catherine? Let it go already.
But, Anonymous, ‘k” IS around every corner as the attempt to silence truth by way of duplicitousness is ever present. You give witness to that reality with most of your postings – faithful, unfaithful, indignant, law abiding, spirit killing, condemnatory, etc, etc, etc.
You may want to identify yourself as Powers and Principalities…. after all:
“…For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.”
You may want Catherine and others to, ‘Let it go already.” But the command to be watchful and wise doesn’t come from you, or from MEN. That is why faithful Catholics are watchful and wary. And that is why you are so furiously attempting to confuse fidelity with fawning sycophantic pandering to those in high places.
One sentence in article that I found interesting was: ‘He added: “Another whose fate appears to be sealed is the Spanish archbishop of Opus Dei Celso Morga Iruzubieta.”’
The Opus Dei is very powerful in Argentina and the Spanish world. They were very dedicated to St. JP2 but little to B16. For example, Opus Dei did nothing to help implement Summorum Pontificum. No Latin Mass in the Opus Dei new evangelization. Yet, it seems as if Opus Dei is also taking the axe of de-Ratzingerization sweeping through the Liberation Church. This suggests to me that we are in for a very deep revolución Francisquista.
Those of us that want to keep a bit of Benedict in our church will have to donate seriously to The TLM. We still might need to find Father Karl’s catacombs, but they should not drag us down there without resistance. The coming repression will be ruthless. Like the Marxists were.
Back in December, 2013 Burke gave a controversial interview to Raymond Arroyo on EWTN where he more or less contradicted the Pope, or at least made comments that were interpreted that way: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/vatican-cardinal-burke-interviewed-on-pope-francis-says-we-can-never-talk-e
Regardless of what one thinks about the accuracy of Cdl. Burke’s comments, an official can’t really go on TV and be seen as openly criticizing his boss, and still expect to keep his job.
Dave N., thank you for the link on abortion. Cardinal Burke is correct (this Pope is not).
The mass MURDER of the most INNOCENT (abortion) should never be pushed aside.
“Thou Shall not Kill” – God’s Commandment.
No one made any Pope, God. Popes sin just like everyone else.
Of the 267 Popes, 80 are canonized Saints, 12 were corrupt.

Dave N. and Mac, I watched all the video, I do not see anywhere where Cardinal Burke contradicted Pope Francis. He seemed to think that the Holy Father was in agreement with him. He showed only a great respect for the man.
Overreacting much?
Before Cardinal Burke took over as head of the Signatura, did you even know the position existed? Did you know the name of the man he replaced or what happened to him?
His predecessor was Cardinal Agostino Vallini who, at the age of 68, was replaced by Cardinal Burke and became Vicar General of Rome. Did you cry for him when Pope Benedict “demoted” him?
Heads of curial offices come and go. It’s not the end of the world.
Get a grip.
BeachGirl, Cardinal Burke is unusually excellent! He is one of our very, very, VERY FEW, good, faithful Catholic leaders, of today!! He is also very truthful, publically, about preaching, teaching, and faithfully standing up for our True Church, no matter what! He is totally a courageous, outstanding Man of God!! So UNUSUAL, for today’s corrupt, weak, unmanly, liberal ecclesiastical world!! We have apparently gained a rather weak, (and somewhat corrupt?) but well-meaning Pope– and tragically lost a TRUE HERO!! MAKES ME SICK!! ESPECIALLY WITH THE UPCOMING OCTOBER SYNOD!! GOD HELP US ALL!! WE COULD NOT AFFORD SUCH A GREAT AND UNFAIR LOSS!!
The truly Catholic thing will be to IGNORE THE corrupted Synod!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
May God have mercy on an amoral Amerika and His Church!
Viva Cristo Rey!
Kenneth M. Fisher
We are not stupid BeachGirl.
Do your own homework before posting.
In addition to his duties as Vicar General, Vallini serves as a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints; Congregation for Bishops; Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life; Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
He also serves as a member of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts and the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See and Council of Cardinals.
He was not relegated to something insignificant.
Amen!!!
Cardinal Burke has an interesting career of preaching the faith. He is always correct as far as the law is concerned. That is not what gets him, historically, into hot water. It is how he says it, how he postures himself, and whom he takes on. He became such a problem in St. Louis, the position of some people, that he was “promoted to Rome” to get him out of the country, as was Cardinal Law, but for different reasons. In Rome, he was made a Cardinal. Then he went around in lavish robes, twenty foot trains and other outfits that went out years ago. Then he took on the Pope in public statements. Although some were elated that he did that, it is not how you build loyalty from the boss. Yes, he will be humiliated. Yes people will scream “foul.” But, to a great extent he brought it on himself, not because he was wrong but for the way he said things. Yes, the law is the law, the rule the rule, the CCC the way, but how it is taught in this age and this country is as important. We still don’t know for sure where he is going.
Bob One writes, “That is not what gets him, historically, into hot water. It is how he says it, how he postures himself, and whom he takes on. ”
Bob One is an interesting character. He claims that he accepts all Church teaching but that is not what gets him, historically, into hot water. It is how he says it, how he postures himself.
Bob One has been wearing a lobster bib in drooling anticipation of receiving the “pleasure” of this announcement for quite some time. He can hardly contain his glee. Anyone really paying attention would have picked up on the historical knife sharpening comments that Bob One has made regarding Cardinal Burke. Now Bob feels quite safe to completely come out of the woodwork and pleasurably use those knives to sound like he simply wants to give everyone the real low down. Presently it is Bob One who just stooped down real low to finally plunge in his knife with some informative twists in an attempt to sneak in a disguised way to cover up his glee. It didn’t work and a day at the soup kitchen won’t cover your mean spiritedness Bob.
The problem is…Bob One is the same poster who got himself into “hot water” by giving himself away when he postured himself to write, “It is the Bishop’s “pleasure” to place the tabernacle anywhere he wants.”
It is outrageous that Our Lord is still being shabbily hidden in many dark broom closets. When protecting those who would treat Our Lord so disrespectfully it looks like Bob One doesn’t really know who he is “taking on.”….The Supreme Boss!
Oh Catherine….only you!
“the CCC the way”
Such disdain for the greatest gift of Saint John Paul II to the Church.
Marched in any parades lately?
Bob One your contempt for traditionalist and the TLM is always present, perhaps the good Cdl is more concerned with preaching truth to power, than go along to get along as so many Bishops do.
Canisius, I have no contempt for traditionalist and the TLM. I have been consistent in my statements that I think that the TLM should be available to everyone, as long as there is the demand and the resources to support it. I am, willing to accept many of the changes in the church since V II. We are not talking a zero-sum game here. the TLM and the NO are both equally valid, just different. While I have no contempt, I don’t understand why some folks want to use the old form of the Mass-Latin, fancy robes, all kinds of special movements, etc. I grew up with that and prefer the NO. But hey, others have different opinions and that is ok. Preaching truth is the job of every preacher. Have you noticed that some are much better at it and seem more relevant than others. Very often it is how they say what they say that makes the difference.
” I don’t understand why some folks want to use the old form of the Mass-Latin, fancy robes,” I dont understand why in the past 50 years the parishes were stripped of statues, frescoes, confessional booths, altar rails, tabernacles, maybe its because those who committed these liturgical crimes hate the Church and catholicity ..
“…it is not how you build loyalty from the boss.”
Is that what it’s all about, Bob One? Seeking to curry favor with the current ‘boss’? That corporate mindset is so disgusting. God willing it will fall out of fashion in favor of the dignity of the priesthood – something old fashioned, but surely bolstered when a cleric wears the proper robes of state that should remind one and all that he is a representative of Christ the King. Not Pilate or the Pharisees.
Ann, not to beat a dead horse, but the hierarchy is all about politics. Who do you think get appointed Bishop or Cardinal? The church is the oldest political bureaucracy in the history of the world. And, that politics has resulted in one of the most corrupt curia in its history. One of the reasons that the Holy Spirit convinced so many Cardinals to vote for our current Pope was because he had called for cleaning up the mess at the Vatican. Essentially he was given his marching orders and he is carrying them out. Plan on more heads rolling. Several have left already, including the Sec. of State who is accused of laundering money through the Vatican Bank. The heads of the Bank have been replaced, Things are happening and more to come. Like it or not, its all politics. Ask you parish priest and he will tell you about the politics at the local chancery.
I doubt sincerely that the Holy Ghost convinced anyone to vote for our current Pontiff. The Third Person of the Holy Ghost, however, does allow us to act on free will.
This persistent aligning Pope Francis’s actions to sweep the over-bloated curia as a pass for what appears to be a sweeping out of Faith and Morals is disturbing. And it fools nobody, For even if the Curia looks clean, a curia clean of the faith is nothing but a political body …
That said, Our Lord God will protect the Church, even in the midst of the corrupt storm doing its damned best to look like a new revival.
So like it or not, it is not all politics. That’s why the ‘politics’ in the local chanceries is disgusting. Fallen human nature.
Yes, Charles, I doubt that the Holy Ghost picked Pope Francis per se, but rather allowed his being chosen. That is permissive will – in order to bring good or better out of that which is from human perspective, not better.
We get the leadership we deserve and pray for. God willing, this seemingly flagrant showdown will bring the crisis in the Church to a head.
“…Even doubting Thomas was better than you.” Thank you for the compliment. For while you disparage St. Thomas as if he is deserving of scorn, it is by virtue of his voiced doubt that those who believe without seeing have been doubly blessed. And while you egregiously attempt to paint my posts as somehow unfaithful, you do me a good turn as my faith is in Our Lord God and His triumph not your Pharisaical pronouncements.
That said, I hope you do not ascribe the whitewash of cleaning the curia to be an excuse for the attempt to change or intimate a change in Catholic Faith and morals. That is what we’re speaking to here in the humiliation of Cardinal Burke.
This is one of the most troubling threads I have yet read on this website; not just for the Lifesite News story itself, but also the discussion and implications for Our Church.
I would very much like to know what Pope Francis Himself has to say, before venturing an opinion – although I have long respected Cardinal Burke and his principled wisdom and certainly hoped he would be an even stronger Voice from America for representing the Faithful.
I have also read of the appointment of the New Cardinal in Chicago (home of the “Man Country” homosex bathhouse that both POTUS Soetoro & his pal / the Rahm were notorious patrons of) – and some very disturbing language about possible betrayal of the clear teachings about the Objectively Disordered Nature of Homosex tendencies and Genuine Evil of such Behavior / Activism.
How Saint John Paul II – who approved the document created by Pope Emeritus ‘Benedict the Wise’ that Is Our Teaching – could be Canonized; and then shortly thereafter one of his most important lessons be treated like trash (if that is truly what is happening)…
– Is something I want to know much more about – before venturing further on these troubling waters.
Rest Assured, Dear Lurkers of the CCD – I shall be watching developments closely; and when the time is right, have my say.
This October (after the Synod ended) will take place the third EF Mass at the altar of the Chair at St. Peter’s. This is the main event of the Populus Summorum Pontificum – Una cum Papa Nostrum pilgrimage. This year it will be offered by Cardinal Burke. The timing of his demotion does not bode well for the respect accorded to the EF Mass under Pope Francisco. Times changed.
Cardinal Burke has done much for the TLM. Thank you so much for your service to the Church Your Eminence.
Cardinal Burke was the only prelate with the rank of bishop or higher to attend an annual Pro-life event in Rome in May 2014. With all the bishops in Rome this one was the only one to stand up and be counted. Times have changed from the “Culture of Death” opposition led by St.John Paul II.
Apparently, the revolution of Vatican II is in full swing again attempting to create another Church of England where everything goes. I expect to see homosexual marriages ceremonies in Catholic churches very soon. I expect to see divorced persons who are in sin, in violation of the Teachings of Christ and the Apostles, to be admitted to communion, providing that any want to come. I think the result will be a further bleeding of the Church’s membership. Look at all the people who came over to the Church following women priests and bishops, gay marriage and a lot of other immoral things, from the Church of England. Where do they go? To the Orthodox?
Bob One, based upon several of your posts, you clearly hate the teachings of the Church which all Catholics are required to adhere to – and which are all contained in the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition” (CCC).
Are you a member of the heretical group “Call to Action” or the Masons?
Saint Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis have all strongly and clearly told us all to study the CCC. For quotes from each of them regarding the CCC go to:
“What Catholics REALLY Believe SOURCE”
https://whatcatholicsreallybelieve.com/
Cardinal Burke as the top Canon Lawyer at the Vatican – Prefect of the Curia Department Apostolic Signatura – it is his required job to uphold Church teaching accurately and completely.
Burke has stayed true 100% to the teachings of Christ and His Church.
Although the child abuser Cardinal Law was moved to Rome, he was never made a member of the Curia, nor was he put in any decision making role for the Church. Your comparison is disgusting and dishonest. And shows your true colors.
The real reason – – – The Pope is upset because Kasper and Danneel, two of his heretical appointees to the October Synod have been exposed as such.
I urge everyone to get a copy of the book – – – “Remaining in the Truth of Christ: Marriage and Communion in the Catholic Church”.
It should be available in late October, but one can order advance copies now.
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/catholicnews/2014/09/cardinals-join-to-defend-church-doctrine-on-divorce-remarriage/
and
https://www.ignatius.com/Products/RTC-P/remaining-in-the-truth-of-christ.aspx
All of us (including Bishops) owe our first love and loyalty to God, not the Pope. The Church has had 12 bad Popes before including Alexander VI (Borgia) and playboy Benedict IX.
It is disappointing that the Pope would want to block transparency (both sides)on the debate he has allowed to come forward on divorce with remarriage and Sacrilege (receiving Holy Communion while in the State of Mortal Sin) –
Especially since Kasper has been running around the world (including the USA) giving speeches on his heresy.
“Thou Shall NOT Commit Adultery” – GOD’s Commandment
Ex 20:14; Deut 5:18.
JESUS’s teaching on Divorce with Remarriage: Mk 10:6-12; Mt 5:32.
On Sacrilege: 1 Cor 11:27-30.
CCC: 1650 Today there are numerous Catholics in many countries who have recourse to civil divorce and contract new civil unions.
In fidelity to the words of Jesus Christ – “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery” the Church maintains that a new union cannot be recognized as valid, if the first marriage was.
If the divorced are remarried civilly, they find themselves in a situation that objectively contravenes God’s law.
Consequently, they cannot receive Eucharistic communion as long as this situation persists.
For the same reason, they cannot exercise certain ecclesial responsibilities. Reconciliation through the sacrament of Penance can be granted only to those who have repented for having violated the sign of the covenant and of fidelity to Christ,
and who are committed to living in complete continence.”
With the internet, heretics like Kasper and Danneel will not be able to stay in the dark behind closed doors (like some of the heretics who attended Vatican II.)
They want only their side of the issues heard, and they go running to the Pope if someone steps on their toes.
They did not teach according to the Church in their home Countries and they should not be expected to do so now.
It is also why their Churches are empty, and going broke.
Why should any Bishops or anyone else try to learn from those who have failed – due to their personal lack of accurate teaching the Faithful in their own Diocese? Are we to let them destroy the rest of the Church?
What was Pope Francis thinking, when he foisted them upon the upcoming Synod?
Pope Francis is not a happy camper that two of his personally invited featured speakers for the Synod have been exposed for what they really are –
heretics who disregard God’s 10 Commandments and Jesus’s teaching.
Apparently Holy Scripture is not believed by them.
Let them leave the Catholic Church and take others who think like them with them. Repent, or there is the door and goodbye.
Excellent comments PETER and MIKE! Refreshing because they tell the truth about what real Catholics really believe. This is our church, we have the truth and it is a disgrace when Catholics do not take the time to learn it’s true teachings. Learn Catholicity at its best! There is no excuse. We need to, to protect ourselves from heresies, from deception. To teach true Catholicity to our children, using the CCC, holy scriptures and writings from the saints. Any Pope, priests, nuns etc who do not teach it or encourage it, we are to be alarmed. Our Lord warned us about false teachers. We are not to take our Lord’s holy words for granted. He came to teach us and to save us, even from ourselves. Take a look at the birds, living animals etc, they honor God’s natural law, it is us human beings who often do not honor His natural laws and we are living beings who have the capacity to reason. We need to keep our eye’s fixed on Jesus, so we won’t so easily be deceived. Pray often for our Lord’s protection even from our own imperfections. Often we are beings of habit. Look at history, same sins different people.
“…We need to, to protect ourselves from heresies, from deception. To teach true Catholicity to our children, using the CCC, holy scriptures and writings from the saints. Any Pope, priests, nuns etc who do not teach it (the Faith) or encourage it, we are to be alarmed. Our Lord warned us about false teachers. We are not to take our Lord’s holy words for granted. He came to teach us and to save us, even from ourselves.”
Well said, Abecca Christian.
Interesting that the above “Anonymous” congratulations to Abecca Christian was posted as Anonymous and yet was written by me.
But either way, “Hallelujah!” Light dawns!
Amen, Abeca !
Interesting Ann Malley…don’t neglect what I said “To teach true Catholicity to our children, using the CCC, holy scriptures and writings from the saints.” That should help also in protecting us from what you quoted me on.
Also read my other comments from September 20, 2014 at 11:56 pm and the one underneath it. Plus let us say that my response was to compliment the comments of PETER AND MIKE. Both excellent comments, they deserve the credit for my reply. They deserve the compliments for uniting the flock to persevere during these times.
Abeca, many deserve the credit for uniting the flock and promoting the transmission of what ‘real Catholics believe’ during these times. Many who for quite some time have used the CCC, holy scriptures, and the writings of the saints during this time of crisis. For it is Catholic Truth as it has always been taught that refutes all of this modernist nonsense – not any one person.
No disparagement to Peter and Mike, but they are merely posting the common sense Catholic approach practiced by many long before the bad fruit of attempting to marginalize Cardinal Burke appeared.
I’m just heartened that more folks are beginning to understand the need to be wise and wary – even and especially as pertains to Church hierarchy. No office excluded. For the enemy within is the one who holds the greatest opportunity to scatter.
As to your other posts, Abeca, they have been understood by many as well and for a long time. No arguments there. And yet we MUST be wary and watchful – fidelity to Our Lord demands it. The post I congratulated you on makes that connection for which I am very glad.
Bob One you make a very good point. When we stand back and observe what is happening, it could be a rational progression of what may be a prudent shuffle of Cardinals in one way or another. We are speaking of the hierarchy of the Church in Rome, and only one part of the overall Church. As someone else pointed out (inadvertently) there are any number of rites we can choose from to freely worship God. Rome is the Latin rite(even though most of he services are done in the vernacular by the faithful). There are any number of rites in the Eastern lung (as JP2 used to call it) where people can find refuge from this “perceived” dilemma. If a parish already has a TLM attend that and encourage others to attend. If you are within a reasonable distance to a FSSP personal parish attend there and encourage others to go there also. The Church Militant speaks quite loudly when trends like that occur. The loudest are those that show a profit. I hate to say that but it happens to be true. Also, there is a saying about leading a horse to water (I’m certain you can all finish that one). No matter what happens, as militant followers, consider your actions, and render unto God what is His alone. If your particular spring is poisoned by liberalism and you haven’t got the stomach for it, go elsewhere. I am certain the sound of retreating feet will get the attention they deserve.
While the Pope is referred to as the head of the Catholic Church, he is not.
The Pope simply holds the keys.
Those who are baptized and practice the Faith are truly THE CHURCH.
Our church has fallen into the wrong hands.
well said….the best reply so far….
Well — so much to comment about, so little space. Let’s see, “Bob One” and “Anonymous”: you are both likely to be very pleased shortly, as Pope Francis and his pals, particularly Cardinal Kasper, pick up the reigns of power and run the Papal horses over centuries of truth and Tradition (nice metaphor, eh?) As “John” simply, but very accurately, said, “The Pope simply holds the keys”. Unfortunately, the “Zombies of Vatican II” have risen and are roaming everywhere now. And, what do we see (besides Cardinal Kasper’s wooden-headed insistence on redefining Catholic sexual ethics for remarried Cathoilcs): (1) that “Humanae Vitae” be withdrawn, and contraception expressly permitted; (2) that homosexual “relationships” be blessed; (3) that women be ordained; (4) that the “New Missal” be withdrawn; (5) that the TLM be formally, and universally, repressed; (6) that non-Catholics that profess another “Christian” belief be permitted to partake of Catholic sacraments; and (7) that a good number of “mergers” with various Christian sects be undertaken now, in the name of “love” or “harmony” and the like; and many other demands. Of course, the “demands” are that the Pope, and the “Office of Bishops” (whatever that looney concept means) specifically act on each one of these items, so that no confusion exists in the future. Time to stand up. Time to contact each bishop and the Vatican and say, I do not consent and i withhold my money from you (while giving it to other Traditional and worthy needs). And, pray mightily for the Pope, who appears to be moving further away from the Faith than seems possible (to the great delight to all of those people that, once the cheering stops, will not do anything differently; the churches will still be largely empty and there will be new demands to be met — maybe Women Bishops. Wow, what a thought: wait, wail, aren’t the Anglicans doing this? How is that working??).
Good point.
Contacting the US Papal Nuncio in Washington DC, and the Vatican stating:
“I DO NOT CONSENT” to all the sins you are trying to get us to approve of,
and all the changes you are trying to make that take us further from Holy Scripture and the traditional teaching of the Church.
Confirming anyone in Mortal Sin is not Pastoral.
I do not want relativism within the Church.
We are running out of time the Synod begins in a few weeks.
St. Christopher, as to issue 1, it should not be withdrawn, 2, No, 3, No, 4, ? or needs some discussion, 5, No, 6, ? or needs some discussion, 7, Isn’t that the objective – that we be one church and that others join the Catholic church?
Cardinal Kasper, in my opinion, is wrong on so many fronts.
Sorry, “Bob One”: The answer to “that all may be one” is that all become members of the One, True, Church — the Roman Catholic Church. If you sincerely do not believe that, then you need to speak with a knowledgeable Catholic, do some research, lots of prayer, go to confession, and then see where you are. Certainly Christ wants all of us to be together in one Faith, but He certainly knows that this will never be (until the end times). Remember that Christ came to the world to save all of Mankind, but died “for all” as a good number of Mankind refuse to follow Him. One terrible issue with the Post-Vatican II Church is that it refuses to step up to its rightful position of dominance, as it once did (I think that the Newbies call it “Triumphalism” which they see as very bad). It simply makes not sense at all, and has never been the postion of the Church, until now, that you do not need to be a Catholic to attain Paradise. Can you get there without the Church? A complicated question, but yes, through the grace of Christ. Remember that the earlier Church leaders (Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and many others) pre-dated Christ, yet no one would argue that they did not go to Heaven. And, what about the Jews today? This one, even to some Traditionalists, the Vatican II boys got right, at least on paper, but it is an area of great controversy. Nope, no indifferentism, no relativism, no syncretism — none of that will work: it is the Catholic Church as the sure path to salvation (regardless of what the present Wonder Boys say). Good to see that we agree on Cardinal Kasper — although Pope Francis clearly adores this guy.

The push to present a positive image of same-sex families has hidden the devastation on which many are built. We must stand for marriage—and for the precious lives that marriage creates…
Breaking the sience, Posted Jun 14, 2007…..Abuse alleged at Cardinal Ritter College Prep…..By Alvin A. Reid Of the St. Louis American
Charles Spearman anonymously sued four Catholic priests from the St. Louis area on the grounds that they sexually molested him while attending parochial schools as a child. Spearman alleged that Father James Theil, Father Michael O. Barry, Father Chester “Chet” Gaiter and Father Thaddeus Posey, all formerly of Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School, sexually abused him. In late April, Gaiter, Barry and Theil settled for $140,000. Parties to the settlement included the Jesuits of Missouri Province, the Redemptorists Denver Province and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Spearman’s federal case against Posey is still pending. Spearman spoke publicly about his alleged abuse and the lawsuit settlement last week in front of Cardinal Ritter.
“If it were not for me, no one would know this,” Spearman said. Citing the fact that every U.S. bishop had pledged to be “open and transparent” concerning clergy sexual abuse, he criticized Archbishop Raymond Burke and other Catholic officials for remaining silent about his molestation and the settlement with three priests. Also, Spearman said Burke remains silent regarding the whereabouts of a fifth accused priest who, according to Spearman, allegedly abused another boy at the school and was suspended in 2004
Joan, I just read your post! Is it on the Internet? I would be interested in reading it! Thank you for any further information! This is terrible!
Sorry, Joan — I typed too fast, in the above post! I meant to say, I would like to read this terrible priest sex abuse story, on the Internet! Where can we find it?
McDermott offers a link to a story in which a woman is quite understandably upset that her husband who discovered he is gay divorced her. Her situation is tragic, and I offer no opinion about whether he made the right choice. Problem is, she goes on to assume that her situation is the same as all other gay families. She writes, “Behind the happy façade of many families headed by same-sex couples, we see relationships that are built from brokenness. They represent covenants broken, love abandoned, and responsibilities crushed. They are built on betrayal, lies, and deep wounds.” This of course, is not true for those who came out early enough that no lies or betrayals. Instead, her husband decided that to be in a marriage to a woman was itself a lie. When gay men marry women, they are living a lie, but she seems to prefer that lie to some other lie that she doesn’t even identify. Keep channelling gay men into straight marriages, and you will see more betrayals, abandonment, and wounding.
The reality is that it is very likely that she never had a valid marriage in the first place (sacramentally speaking). If the husband lacked the full maturity to enter willingly into the marriage, and there is a pretty strong hint that he did, then she was never married to begin with. It’s a sad thing for sure either way, but the answer is not to pretend that denying gay people the right to marry civilly does anything other than create more situations like her own.
Amen to that YFC!
Mr. biology professor: Could you explain to me the biological purpose of coprocoitus? How does coprocoitus promote the health, growth, or propagation of the species of a particular organism? How does the biological principle of form follows function apply to the parts that are primarily used in coprocoitus? Are there any less disgusting ways those parts can be used that are more befitting to the cause of promoting the welfare of the species either on the individual level or in terms of producing future generations? Why would anyone want to engage in coprocoitus? Thank you in advance for your answer.
I have always wished that Cardinal Burke– or a Cardinal just like him– could be our Holy Father! He has always been so 100% faithful, and so strong and reliable and trustworthy, as a true leader of the Catholic Church! Also, Cardinal Burke is very supportive of the Tridentine Latin Mass, and societies that are devoted to it! He is one of the very few prelates we have– that is a true, faithful “practicing Catholic!” And he does NOT believe in allowing the Blessed Sacrament to be defiled by immoral “Catholics,” making tons of sacrilegious Communions,( like Nancy Pelosi!) so the Church can claim large, false numbers of “believers,” and not “offend” or lose any of them! He believes in proper excommunication! Plus, he is a true supporter, of the Sacrament of Matrimony, and the sacredness of the unborn child! He also, like beloved Ven. Archbishop Sheen, makes a daily Holy Hour– and also says his daily Rosary, too!
I found a lot of information, on the subject of Cardinal Burke, regarding child sex abuse cases. He only served a brief time, as Archbishop of St. Louis– 2003-2008, and it didn’t seem that he had to deal much, with priests committing child sex abuse. The cases in question, all had occurred long before his time there. Burke also seemed to be in great sympathy, to the victims! I think these stories may have been written by young, naïve, anti-Catholic, liberal reporters, who do not understand the Catholic Church, and were looking to simply attack and degrade the Church, in every possible way! Also, one misinformed reporter, Jason Berry, obviously had NO IDEA at all, regarding Catholic liturgical vestments! Cardinal Burke always properly vests for Mass, as well as all other Church liturgies! He also must wear a completely different set of vestments, for Masses, priestly ordinations, blessings of new churches and seminaries, and any liturgical events, that are of the Latin Tridentine Rite!! He may be imperfect– but overall, I think he is a truly good, orthodox, trustworthy Catholic Cardinal!
Linda Maria, There is tons of information out there. Here’s a link. Read all eight pages. Cardinal Burke was and is not the priest abuse victims friend. A good portion of the article is about Benda Varga (B.V.). You can’t sanitize Cardinal, then Bishop Burke’s handling of covering up of priest child abuse.
The link http: //www.riverfronttimes.com/2004-08-25/news/immaculate-deception/full/
Linda maria, here’s the othe link. https://www.stlamerican.com/news/local_news/article_1be21a9b-dad7-51a5-b708-9d230a1880f6.html?mode=jqm
Is this not the same sort of decision involving the SSPX and created separation with many Catholics. Who am I to judge.
A while back I asked who Mandy was referring to when she claimed that the existence of twelve corrupt popes. Although it was referenced a few times later, no one provided the list! Who were these corrupt men?
Obviously – I hope – no approved list of corrupt popes exsts! I will bet, however, that most folks are thinking of the Borgia’s and other Popes whose reigns coincided with the rise of Protestantism and with that movement’s propaganda against the Church. The effects of that propaganda have been especially felt in the English-speaking world, obviously even among Catholics.
If you read the first edition of “Catholicism for Dummies” by Frs.Trigilio and K. Brighenti
which has a Nihil Obstate from the Vatican’s Censor Librorum,
and an Imprimatur by Msgr Schaedel, Vicar General/Moderator of the Curia
– you will find in Appendix B, page 385 a list of all 267 Popes, which ones are Canonized (now 80 with Pope John Paul II); and the 10 who are Blessed but not canonized.
On page 33 you will find information on the 12 Popes who were “morally evil and corrupt scoundrels”
The worst was Alexander VI (1492-1503) who was a Borgia and fathered Lucezia and several other illegitimate childen – the description includes debauchery, nepotism, bribery, deceit, etc.
and playboy Pope Benedict IX (1032-1045) who was so bad with his orgies etc, that there was a riot against him in Rome.
Some of you may know Frs. Trigilio and K. Brighenti from EWTN.
Kasper and Danneels head the pack.
Giving speeches on their heresy all over the world.
Thanks Paul good responses! God bless you! I just don’t get what was Brian S’s intention of questioning so? huh, what difference does it make, its probably irrelevant. Well maybe it will help him, who knows? God help us all.
This is a less painless way to read about ‘bad’ popes, Brian
https://www.crisismagazine.com/2012/lets-raise-a-glass-to-the-bad-popes
Brian, excuse me. I just answered where you could get info on the 12 bad Popes.
I meant to post your name in the email as a response. Unfortunately I put your name in the sender list.
Sorry.
Brian S I don’t know which ones Mandy was referring to. But I do know we had a few famous ones, I just can’t remember right off my head, the ones, I would have to go back to my research. I don’t even know if there were 12. Maybe you can get the answers on Catholic Answers website or EWTN. They may have better details and facts, but no matter what, the church endured and still we have the truth. Praise God for His mercy.
There is a decided rise of Protestant thinking today, Brian S, which would coincide with the groundswell of belief (or false hope) that the Catholic Church is going to change with regard to Faith and morals. Or that She can change with regard to Faith and morals.
That said, what would an ‘approved’ list of bad popes be for you? Does it need to be official from the Vatican? Just asking.
https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/cardinal-burke-media-hijacking-synod-on-the-family-79760/
It is not just the media that has hijacked the upcoming synod.
Wow Anonymous good article. the link you presented shows an interview with Cardinal Burke “Cardinal Raymond Burke, prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, speaks with CNA Sept. 15, 2014. Credit: Joaquin Piero Perez/CNA”
Yes, it is Abeca. I was just going to recommend it until I saw that Anonymous beat me to it.
Actually, it is dated Sept. 23, 2014, and is also on “The Catholic World Report”. Everyone should read it.
Thanks Ann T
Really? The GREATEST humiliation in memory? I can recall oh, Jesus Christ upon a cross for one. Hundreds of saints burned or beheaded for others. More recently Fr. Fessio’s assignment to chaplain at a small hospital for a time, and Fr. Frank Pavone’s tethering to his local diocese for a time. How were these overcome? By humble obedience.
Fessio and Pavone also worked to make the correction. Within the Church. I do not see Cardinal Burke decrying the move publicly. It will be interesting to see what he does with his See. Yes it is very sad news. However, we do not know what is happening behind the scenes. Further, it is not helpful to sensationalize in headlines and articles like the liberals do. Report the news.
Encouraging news!

HOLY SEE PRESS OFFICE COMMUNIQUÉ on Meeting of Cardinal Müller and Society of Saint Pius X Superiors Updated
Palace of the Holy Office, Rome
HOLY SEE PRESS OFFICE COMMUNIQUÉ
“On the morning of Tuesday 23 September from 11 am to 1 pm, a cordial meeting took place at the premises of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, between Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Muller, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and Bishop Bernard Fellay, superior general of the Society of St. Pius X. The meeting was also attended by Archbishops Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer, S.I., secretary of the same Congregation, Joseph Augustine Di Noia, O.P., adjunct secretary and Guido Pozzo, secretary of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, along with two assistants from the Society of St. Pius X, Rev. Niklaus Pfluger and Rev. Alain-Marc Nély.
“During the meeting, various problems of a doctrinal and canonical nature were examined, and it was decided to proceed gradually and over a reasonable period of time in order to overcome difficulties and with a view to the envisioned full reconciliation.”
Those on the side of actual Catholic faith and morals need to stick together. God willing, He will grant us the grace!!!
Thanks for posting, Catherine.
It must bring great sadness to Jesus that the Church he founded finds the need to “take sides”.
“…and a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.”
Wheat and tares, Anonymous wheat and tares. Sad, but predicted.
I agree Ann! Thank you for posting too.
Thanks, Paul, for the reference. Historians will argue about corruption levels of deceased leaders, including Popes, for years. It has certainly existed and varied over time.
What I see here is an over-eagerness to condemn our current Pope while losing perspective of our history. Really – “Greatest Humiliation in History” ? Talk about overstatement!
Brian S. your comments from
September 23, 2014 at 4:11 pm. I agree with you about the title here on this article.
Nobody is eager to condemn Pope Francis, but rather to assure one another that questioning the unorthodox fruits and confusion coming from the Vatican is nothing new and does not equate with being unfaithful. Quite the contrary.
Brian S., I don’t think anyone has compared Pope Francis to the 12 “scoundrel” Popes.
It is important for everyone to be reminded that all Popes (and Bishops, and Priests, and Nuns) are human, which means they sin and sometimes are in error – like the rest of us.
Even the chosen Apostles were sinners.
No one should be followed blindly – except Christ Himself.
We have a responsibility to educate ourselves. And the Magisterium has helped us by providing us with the Bible and CCC.
CCC: ” 1791.. ignorance can often be imputed to personal responsibility.
This is the case when a man takes little trouble to find out what is true and good,
or when conscience is by degrees almost blinded through the habit of committing sin.
In such cases, the person is culpable for the evil he commits.”
This is why it is so important for ALL Catholics to read the Bible and the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition” (CCC).
“….. let us ask ourselves if we have actually taken a few steps to get to know Christ and the truths of faith more, by reading and meditating on the Scriptures, studying the Catechism, steadily approaching the Sacraments.” Pope Francis, May 15, 2013.
It is a shame when any Pope or Bishop by his words or his example,
take us further away from the teachings of Christ.
And if we do not read, we won’t even recognize it.
DAVE amen to that! Spoken words of a true Catholic warrior!
Anne Malley – I would ask you not to bow to the Alinskyite tactic of anonymously ‘shaming the un-good into silence’ – used repeatedly against anyone who dares speak an un-speakable truth, no matter how ‘nicely’ they may play the Mau Mau scam on you.
As with other Trolls on this board – had they the Simple Courage of their Convictions, they would use their real name to sign their posts and take ownership of what they say – as we do.
As it is – the ‘anonymous’ Targeting and Trolling is like the endless repetition of deliberately annoying TV commercials – which are meant to be remembered not for the quality of their product, but rather their irritating recycling of inane gibberish on purpose.
Such attempts at distraction should neither bother nor hinder your sincere participation in the important discussions taking place here.
For Myself – as politely as possible I ask the Anonymous Alinskyite Trolls to Stop. Please. Stop Trolling this Catholic website.
Pretty Please – with artificial sugar on top – Stop.
It must be particularly painful for Anonymous and crew when the so-called ungood can spot out the bad fruit, Michael. No doubt that is why the trolls are in such fervor to keep the narrative of nice and sweet rolling on despite the piles of dung whose stink has made many a Catholic pass out for want of clean air.
Don’t look at the falling bodies. It’s all good. Not.
Thanks for your posts, all of them! And God bless you.
A regular contributor to the conservative website “Renew America” named Marielena Montesino de Stuart is convinced that Cardinal Burke is just as liberal as all of the rest of them. “Did Cardinal Burke issue the same public admonition at the Ritz-Carlton Beach Resort, regarding Holy Communion? Has he administered the same public medicine to “conservative” wealthy lay Catholics in positions of leadership, who honor pro-abortion billionaire/politicians in exchange for money? Please, Cardinal Burke – inquiring Catholic minds want to know!” https://www.renewamerica.com/columns/marielena/130211
Dave, how can you say that no one “has compared Pope Francis to the 12 “scoundrel” Popes”!? Mandy brought them up! And in what context?
This context: One poster says that “barbarians and Judas types have taken over the Vatican”., another advocates the “use of force” to “get their attention” and predicts the growth of Sede groups. A third says that Francis intends will “persecute” the faithful and a fourth says that with Francis, “hell is at the gates”.
This is a direct accusation of corruption, and of a corruption much worse and harmful to the Church than hidden families or sexual affairs. If you’re going to charge it, own it!
