Early reports on Parental Notification signature gathering

The California bishops have unanimously urged signature gathering for the Parental Notification initiative. The following are some reports from churches. The turn-in of signatures to the counties is April 30, which means only six-seven weeks remain to get your church done. Call (855) 263-2254 to get petitions and for more information.

February 16 – Signature gathering at churches finally underway this month. Early reports on how some of the volunteers are doing:
Feb. 5 Holy Family parish in Artesia (south LA County) – 800 signatures
Feb. 12 Calvary Chapel (Downey) – 678 signatures
Feb. 5 Mission San Diego de Alcala – 598 signatures
Jan. 29 and Feb. 5 St. Anne (Barrio Logan in San Diego) – 280 signatures
(This from parish with total Mass attendance of 500 including many children)
One woman armed with clipboards, flyers, petitions outside three parishes in Glendale area since Jan. 21 – 1300 signatures 

Feb. 23 – More reports coming in from around the state. Collecting on two-three Sundays makes a big difference.
Our Lady of Guadalupe church in La Habra (Orange County) – 700
Christ the King church in Bakersfield – 1500
(collected signatures over several Sundays)
St. Therese in Alhambra – over 600
St. Joseph church in Lincoln (north of Sacramento) – 600
Holy Family in Glendale – over 800

Feb 29 – more news from churches
St. Peter Chanel – Hawaiian Gardens (L.A. County) – 600 signatures
Sacred Heart – Coronado (San Diego County) – 500
St. Joseph – Modesto – 1229

That’s right St. Anne’s has five masses on a Sunday, and we were out there for every mass, for about a month. I doubt that any adult who is registered in CA, entering or leaving Mass, did not sign petitions. There were also several people who needed to re-register to vote, so we handed out those forms as well. Anyone who was registered elsewhere, they signed a petition and were asked to take it with them and get signatures in that area and then to mail the petition in, or we got more signatures from others who were visiting. Several people took some petitions home to other people, at work or for extended family members to sign. Some people in the immediate neighborhood are not familiar with the extraordinary form of the Mass, and do not speak English, so whether they are eligible to vote, let alone sign a petition is questionable, but there are still some original parishioners who still attend the 12:30 Mass where the priest gives the homily in Spanish who signed petitions. It’s a very involved parish. We are helping other parishes in gathering signatures for their people as well. We DO have a lot of children, which is why we are so busy, and committed, to gathering as many signatures as we can. Not all parishes in San Diego have begun this important task. But St. Anne’s is committed to doing everything we can to get this done.

Oops, it didn’t occur to me to count the signatures for PNI. Were we supposed to do that? It would be several hundred, probably close to 1,000 at my (unnamed) parish.

From what I have heard, the bishops are allowing signatures to be gathered on only two Sundays – total. Why so limiting if the bishops have “unanimously urged signature gathering”?

In case people don’t know, one can go to caparentalrights dot org and download the petition, which must be printed double-sided and legal sized. Then it can be signed and turned in even by only one person, let alone four more persons per sheet. All signators must reside in the same county and all registered to vote in that same county, or the effort will be wasted. So we can all do this for our households and friends.

Congratulations to Life Lady and friends at St. Anne’s in San Diego, and all the thousands of volunteers working to gather signatures to qualify the Parental Notification initiative for the November, 2012 ballot. The beneficiaries of all this good work will be the tens of thousands of young girls who will be spared from secret abortions performed by Planned Parenthood and other anti-family, anti-life abortionists. The parental notification initiatives have helped to expose Planned Parenthood’s dirty secret abortion trade, but to stop it requires qualifying and passing a Parental Notification Constitutional Amendment. To gather enough signatures in the short time allowed requires not only collecting signatures at churches for several Sundays, but also recruiting hundreds of thousands of church goers to take petitions home and gather more signatures from family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

How come there is no initiative to defeat AB2151 which allowed Planned Parenthood to bill $17 extra per contraceptive dispensed? This was passed into law in 2006 by Gov. Scharzniegger. This bring and federal govvernment payments for Title X keeps PP doors open.

I know in my parish here on the S.F. peninsula, the person in charge of gathering signatures had a goal of 60, but got 100…..but with all due respect, why do we have such low expectations? We have a large parish, they all should be ‘on board’!!!

I was told that the petitions needed to be sent by into the office by Feb. 29 or March 10th at the latest. Does anyone know if that is correct?

So, Kenneth, what about starting a signature drive to recall leftist judges who would be in positions to over rule the will of the people and the constitution? Sword of Damacles hanging over their heads in the form of countless signatures calling for their ouster? When is the last time a legislative candidate spoke of getting tyrant pervert judges off their benches?
