Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò is urging the re-consecration of St. Peter’s Basilica, in light of what he calls “the appalling idolatrous profanations” that have been committed in its walls through the veneration of the Pachamama statue.
In a Nov. 6 interview on the Amazon Synod with LifeSiteNews, Archbishop Viganò has said: “The abomination of idolatrous rites has entered the sanctuary of God and has given rise to a new form of apostasy whose seeds, which have been active for a long time, are growing with renewed vigor and effectiveness.”
Here below is an excerpt of the LifeSiteNews interview on the Amazon Synod with Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò.
LifeSiteNews: Your Excellency, how would you characterize the arc of the synod narrative? Is there an image that aptly summarizes it?
Archbishop Viganò: The barque of the Church is in the grip of a raging storm. To quell the tempest, those Successors of the Apostles who have tried to leave Jesus on the shore, and who no longer perceive His presence, have begun to invoke the Pachamama!
Jesus prophesied: “When you see the desecrating sacrilege … there will be a great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be” (Mt 24:15;21).
The abomination of idolatrous rites has entered the sanctuary of God and has given rise to a new form of apostasy, whose seeds — which have been active for a long time — are growing with renewed vigor and effectiveness. The process of the internal mutation of the faith, which has been taking place in the Catholic Church for several decades, has seen with this Synod a dramatic acceleration towards the foundation of a new creed, summed up in a new kind of worship [cultus]. In the name of inculturation, pagan elements are infesting divine worship in order to transform it into an idolatrous cult.
What do you think is the most concerning or problematic part of the Amazon Synod’s final document?
The strategy of the entire Amazon Synod operation is deception, the preferred weapon of the devil: telling half-truths to achieve a perverse end. A lack of priests: they therefore say it is necessary to open up to married priests and to a women’s diaconate in order to destroy celibacy, first in the Amazon and then in the entire Church. On what continent was the Catholic Church’s first evangelization ever carried out by married priests? The missions in Africa, Asia, and Latin America were carried out primarily by the Latin Church, and only to a very small extent by the Eastern Churches with married clergy.
The final document of this shamefully manipulated assembly, whose agenda and results have been planned for a long time, is a head-on strike against the divine edifice of the Church, attacking the sanctity of the Catholic priesthood, and pushing for the abolition of ecclesiastical celibacy and a female diaconate….

Bravo Alexander, you did the right thing!
the reconsecration must be done. i missed the plant on the altar at the closing mass. does anyone know what it was? the dirt poured into the ground in the vatican garden must also be extirpated vatican gardens blessed.
Vigano is spot on!
Amen
We need to pray for the Archbishop, the devil is at him 24/7. God bless you Archbishop.
I agree with Abp. Vigano! The Pope owes it to the Catholic Amazonians to bless, uplift , and encourage them in their Faith! Do they have any Saints, or people with causes opened, for canonization? Do they have any great Catholic heroes in their history? Any important religious shrines? Any miracles?? That should have been the focus of the Pope’s Amazon Synod– to encourage and build the religious faith of the Amazon people! I admire the young, devout Austrian and his friends, who threw the idols into the Tiber River!
“The final document of this shamefully manipulated assembly…”. Yes, most of the Synods of Pope Francis have been shamefully manipulated! Other assemblies of Church leaders, historically, have been likewise manipulated! (Including the Second Vatican Council!) Some for good reasons, some for particular political intentions… historically, some papal elections have likewise been manipulated, to a certain extent. Regardless, the Magisterium, Deposit of Faith– remains intact, as well as the Bible– and also, our sacred Tradition– although many have tried to destroy it, they cannot! Bravo, Vigano!
I have read in several places, that the Pope has told people that Christ was only human, not Divine! — a great shock!– totally heretical and disrespectful to Christ and to our Church! If this is true– then he should be expelled, and replaced by a TRUE Pope! So terribly sorry, for those who had to endure hearing these remarks, if true!– especially, Catholic children!
Were these several places on the Internet?
As Cardinal Muller said the sin was taking the idols into the church in the first place, not in taking them out.
The LifeSiteNews article does not state how the interview with Archbishop Vigano took place. With all the increasing weirdness going on, it is important to have a face to face interview with him. If it is over the phone or by email, you cannot be sure that it is Archbishop Vigano.
People initially freaked out because they thought the statue was of our Lady, which the Vatican denied. Then someone on the Internet starts a rumor that it is a pagan diety or idol and there is a new freak out. The Vatican denies that it is a pagan idol. I know that the devil is after Pope Francis as much as he was after the Popes before him. I would believe him before I would believe the Internet.
I never thought for one moment it was Our Lady. She would never present herself in that manner. That should be quite obvious. It was a Pachamama, and now many think the other one used at the same time in that ritual is another one of the Inca (or other Latin American) goddesses whose name starts with a “Q”.
Pope Francis should have stopped it. I will give him credit for not saying the prayer he had prepared as it might have been a blessing. I do not know. Instead he said the Our Father. My problem is that he allowed the things (probably copies) after they or others were thrown in the Tiber.
It was presented to the Pope as Our Lady of the Amazon. For those interested, there is this:

The Holy Father himself has called the statues taken “Pachamama statues”. The website you link, only confirms there is no evidence the Pope has said any differently. In fact Pedro on his website admits he’s going to try to find evidence to defend his position that’s it’s Our Lady. Pedro’s website may want to work on just researching for facts. This situation with these idols is hard for many of us to accept. But one cannot help this situation if one closes their eyes to it. I will pray more for Rome, the Holy Father and those around him who may be running their own agendas, following their own wills and not focused on God’s will.
Thank you for reading it. I am not taking a position because I know nothing about it. I live in an area of the country where most Christians consider Catholics to be idolaters, so I know how easy and hurtful it can be to judge and misjudge. People think they are standing up for God when they attack us and persecute us and slander us.
Correction to the last two lines in my last post: “he allowed the things, probably copies, back into the church after they or the others were thrown into the Tiber.
Just listen to on line the video “Fr. Mitch Pacwa condemns the Pachamama idols”. He served around that area and knows what that kind of idolatry is all about. It is horrifing.
Anne TE thank you for that recommendation. I like his promotion of the Brown Scapular as a reparation.
