The following comes from a Mar. 17 posting on the Cardinal Newman Society website.
Loyola Marymount University has narrowed the search for the new dean of its liberal arts school to two candidates, both of whom have worked for Planned Parenthood, according to RenewLMU, an organization committed to promoting the Jesuit University’s Catholic identity.
RenewLMU is calling on the University to re-start the selection process and “ensure the new dean of the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts demonstrates a strong record of furthering Catholic mission and identity so that LMU will be, in the words of Pope Francis, an ‘uncompromising witness…to the Church’s moral teaching.’”
Robbin Crabtree, who is currently Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University, has been selected as one of two finalists for the position.
Crabtree, according to her CV available online, worked on the Advisory Board & Media Relations Committee of Planned Parenthood of Putnam County, Indiana from 1991 to 1993.
Also, according to her CV, in 2000 and 2001 Crabtree was a member of a group called “Las Adelitas” which she describes as an “organization promoting women’s candidacy for public office” in New Mexico. But the group seems to have another agenda, at least according to its former president who was quoted in the Santa Fe Reporter.
Samantha L Johnson, president of Las Adelitas Women in Politics, worries about the lack of pro-choice female legislators in New Mexico. When Adelitas began in 1993, Johnson says there were no pro-choice female legislators. Now, she says, there are eight, but that number is still too few for Johnson’s comfort. During the most recent legislative session, a bill that would have required minors seeking abortions to obtain parental notification almost passed. “It made it onto the Senate floor with a 13-39 vote,” Johnson says. “Luckily it didn’t end up passing the House of Representatives.” Another bill that concerned Johnson would have allowed women who suffered miscarriages to obtain death certificates for fetuses.” Once you define what life and death are it’s easier to outlaw abortion,” Johnson says of her concern with the bill.
In 2004, the Albuquerque Journal explicitly stated that the group was “a political action committee which endorses and financially supports pro-choice, Democratic women candidates for state-level offices.”
The other finalist for the dean position, according to Renew LMU, is Ramón A. Gutiérrez from the University of Chicago. On his CV, under the banner of consultant, Dr. Gutiérrez lists “Planned Parenthood Federation of America, New York, New York (Hispanic attitudes toward sexuality).”
RenewLMU reports that Dr. Gutiérrez is also one of five members of the Organization of American Historians’ Committee of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Historians and Histories, which issued a statement in July of last year lauding the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Proposition 8, which defined marriage as between one man and one woman in California.
Gutiérrez has also written that gender and sex are societal inventions. In an article titled “Mapping the Erotic Body: Gay New York” that appeared in the American Quarterly he wrote, “If recent historical scholarship has taught us anything, it is that race, gender, and sex are status distinctions of human invention that have constantly evolved….”

Loyola Marymount is a Fake Catholic University.
Do all Catholic abortionists have big straight teeth?
APOSTOLIC CONSTITUTION OF THE SUPREME PONTIFF JOHN PAUL II ON CATHOLIC UNIVERSITIES https://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/apost_constitutions/documents/hf_jp-ii_apc_15081990_ex-corde-ecclesiae_en.html
PART II – GENERAL NORMS – Article 4: ” § 1. The responsibility for maintaining and strengthening the Catholic identity of the University rests primarily with the University itself. While this responsibility is entrusted principally to university authorities (including, when the positions exist, the Chancellor and/or a Board of Trustees or equivalent body), it is shared in varying degrees by all members of the university community, and therefore calls for the recruitment of adequate university personnel, especially teachers and administrators, who are both willing and able to promote that identity. The identity of a Catholic University is essentially linked to the quality of its teachers and to respect for Catholic doctrine. It is the responsibility of the competent Authority to watch over these two fundamental needs in accordance with what is indicated in Canon Law(49).
Article 4: § 2. All teachers and all administrators, at the time of their appointment, are to be informed about the Catholic identity of the Institution and its implications, and about their responsibility to promote, or at least to respect, that identity.
Every University that advertises itself as “Catholic” must comply with the above part of the Apostolic Constitution.

Copy the appropriate Diocese Bishop and include the attachment. (Be certain to highlight the appropriate paragraphs regarding the violation(s), and also the responsibility of the Bishop.)
“Article 5 § 2. Each Bishop has a responsibility to promote the welfare of the Catholic Universities in his diocese and has the right and duty to watch over the preservation and strengthening of their Catholic character. If problems should arise conceming this Catholic character, the local Bishop is to take the initiatives necessary to resolve the matter, working with the competent university authorities in accordance with established procedures(52) and, if necessary, with the help of the Holy See.”

Sounds like each would fit right in at Loyola Marymount.
The RENEWLMU group is working hard to keep the pressure on LMU – God bless them!
Another avenue of pressure is this: While it is true that Archbishop Gomez probably can NOT tell the University what to do, he can unilaterally remove their designation as a “Catholic” school. Such a removal would dry up their applicant pool immediately. Most of the students are sent their by naive parents happy to be sending their child to a local “Catholic” school. No offense but why would anyone go there unless they thought it was Catholic.
Not True. Abp Gomez has a clear “responsibility” for all Catholic Universities (Colleges) within his own Diocese, as do all Bishops.

However Bishops are not mind readers and the Faithful must notify them.
Jim,
Arch. Gomez will not even remove heretic speakers from his WRECK (Religious Education Congress)!

I question the educational credentials of Dr. Gutiérrez. Sex is a scientific term which is defined by the presence of an xx or xy chromosome combination and therefore determines if someone is biologically female or male. Gender is a much misused linguistic term which technically defines language elements (words) not persons. Race might be more ambiguous but we are all part of the human race though ethnically differentiated. If these are indeed all human constructs then so is evolution and it’s ‘status’ as such should promote that we can all thankfully return to teaching creationism or at least intelligent design as an equally valid construct, based on Dr. Gutiérrez’s assertion. As for the girl, poor misguided soul who bought into the culture of death. Either way both are relativists which is rather an oxymoron in an educational context. it’s difficult to see how either one could be seriously considered by the Jesuits who have always prided themselves on educating people. Just sayin’…
The bishop can’t even take care of the schools he is directly responsible for, let alone a Jesuit university that hasn’t been “Catholic” in so long they probably can’t spell the word. In fact, LMU’s president isn’t even Catholic.
LMU is far from perfect and we knew this before our two daughters went to LMU. Thank God they love and serve the Lord. Both are pro-life. Please consider supporting RenewLMU with prayer, money and time. Cal-Catholic, the Cardinal Newman Society, Thomas Aquinas in Santa Paula and JohnPaul the Great in San Diego should combine forces to help RenewLMU. There is too much whining and not enough evangelizing. There are good professors at LMU that are trying to further the kingdom of God. Stop whining and help them. Do something other than “comment”.
John,
Pray that your two daughters are still Catholic when they graduate from that cesspool! They wouldn’t be the first to succumb to that Institution and become anti-Catholic.
May God have mercy on an amoral Amerika!

Unless and until the Vatican, and the USCCB (LOL), step into the public fray, institutions of education see no issue in naming pro-abort and pro-sexual license people to administrative positions. Essentially, no Catholic leader seems to care much about scandal to the “average” Catholic, including impressionable students. The same “average Catholic” that is concerned, should: (1) protest, publicly (sorry, Michael Voris); (2) stop paying these people through their churches; and (3) publicly donate to Traditional groups, or to bishops, such as Bishop Morlino of Madison, WI, who are moral stewards that care about saving souls (rather than lining up at the feed trough, or being a blatant Company Man, like Bishop Olson of Ft. Worth). Someone needs to step-up and challenge the use of “Catholic” by these institutions; make the fight public. But — quel dommage — no one in power really cares! It is very difficult to understand any vision of the Church presently offered by Pope Francis and those he has appointed to seats of authority. Perhaps the message today is: “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” Too bad, that Gregorian Chant has been replaced by Bob Marley.
Just what does it take, for the Catholic Church to properly and faithfully run its churches, schools, charities, hospitals, and all other institutions, supposedly dedicated to Christ’s holy mission?? Why can’t the Church do her job, for Christ– Who gave His very life for her?? Where is the love and dedication to Him??
Ahhhhh Academentia – where MIsandry (Hatred of Men & Boys, Masculinity & Normal Heterosexuality) is The Tenure Track.
And the notion that Catholic Church is to Pay for this… must give satan the giggles
I attended many worksops at LMU back in the 90’s…let me tell you sonething…this place did not even feel like a Roman catholic institution of higher learning…a sister taught a workshop I attended on the “shadow”, she was wearing high heeled slides, a skirt, that went to mid thigh and was hoseless…I challenged her choice of attire at break, and why I viewed it as scandalous, she laughed in my face and said, you “just have a little skin hunger”…”sorry I tempted you”, maybe you should go to the men’s room and relieve yourself, we’ll wait”…I left and never returned…she may have been “perfectly possessed”
