Forty-one families have pulled 73 children from the elite Sacramento-area Rocklin Academy charter schools as the board continues to defend a kindergarten transgender lesson several parents say traumatized their 5-year-olds and that parents weren’t told about beforehand.
A mother who pulled her son from Grade 6 and daughter from Grade 3 at Rocklin Academy Gateway, where the incident took place, has kept a tally of parents who’ve done likewise.
“It was just the tipping point for most families,” the parent, who asked her name not be published, told LifeSiteNews.
Some parents pulled their kids “solely for this,” while other had “multiple reasons, but yes, this was part of everyone’s reason,” she said.
The controversy erupted after a lesson in which the boy appeared in girl’s clothes and was reintroduced to his kindergarten classmates as a girl.
Moreover, it’s still not clear what happened in the classroom because Swaney and the board refused to tell parents, and the board’s account differs from what a number of parents say their five-year-olds told them, the parent told LifeSiteNews.
The Rocklin Academy school board countered that it didn’t have to tell parents about lessons on gender identity because it wasn’t sex education. California law requires parental notification and allows opt out for sex education.
Moreover, the board claims not affirming the five-year-old boy’s transition to a “girl” will leave it open to lawsuits because California bans discrimination based on gender identity and expression.
On Monday, the five-member board unanimously rejected a “model parent proposal” to allow opt-out for lessons on gender identity and parental review of sensitive material before it hits the classroom.
The board did approve a policy directing teachers to try to let parents know beforehand that sensitive material would be taught, but the measure is “really weak” according to Greg Burt of the California Family Council.
Moreover, at “every board meeting, the administration seemed very adversarial to the parents,” according to the parent who spoke to LifeSiteNews.
“Many, many families are trying to figure out what to do with their kids,” she added. “Parents are saying they’ll homeschool if they have to.”

Of course you should pull your child out of this school. And, you should leave California, to boot. Sexual issues from abortion to all ranges of homosexuality completely dominate that states political spectrum. Satan is most happy in Sacramento. Best to leave — even though the weather is great — in that this focus on sexual perversity comes to dominate all elements of state behavior. It is too large now to effect via the vote. Time to leave.
We have State schools for the Blind and Deaaf children, and Special Ed. classes, for children with special needs. I think we should also have a State school, for children diagnosed with “Gender Dysphoria,” in which teachers and counselors, as well as medical personnel, would help the children on a daily basis, to adjust realistically to the gender they were born as, and to get comfortable with it. As the years go by, they could learn to adjust as well as possible, and to become a success, in their lives, overall– and be all set for their future, after graduation from high school!! I think that would be a smart idea!
I am usually reticent to provide other than objective analysis of the type issues facing the Church, as my own sense of humor is more of a Desert Dry Monty Pythonesque form of satirical / cynical bent than many others seem to share.
However, the new Comedy / Science Fiction program on Fox Network titled “The Orville” (the name of a space ship – possibly after Orville Wright) has not only blended impeccably scripted comedy in to current social issues, but done so in a n insightful manner not achieved before.
Not everyone may like it, but ‘The Orville “If the Stars Should Appear” Season 1 Episode 4’ deals with Gender Change in a wholly unique manner, and one that opens avenues for discussion that I found fascinating.
5 Stars – Check…
Correction – I pulled the wrong episode of ‘The Orville’. It should be “About a Girl” Season 1 Episode 3’; dealing with Gender Change in a wholly unique manner, using an ‘Alien’ culture as the benchmark
Public school… please. Catholic school… not Catholic. Rocklin Academy… can’t afford the psychiatric medical bills. Home schooling… Bingo!
Transgender theory disrespects God who created male and female. Gender identity is formed during childhood. To expose children to transgender theory is cruel. It is better for those who do to have a millstone tied around their necks and thrown into the sea.

Latest on California mandated pro-‘LGBT’ textbooks
» July 15, 2016 — California’s K-12 public schools are now officially perverse. The Democrat-controlled state Board of Education approved pro-homosexuality-bisexuality-transsexuality curriculum to go into new textbooks teaching children that “LGBT” is good, natural, and maybe even for them. Learn…
Transgenderism: A Leftist Weapon Against the Family
Emmett McGroarty and Jane Robbins
Leftists insist that this kind of activity in schools is necessary to make dysphoric children feel accepted and secure. Maybe. But there is a darker agenda at work, one that has been in play for at least a century.
If you were educated before the onset of Common Core, you probably read the 1932 British novel Brave New World. One aspect of the “utopia” described by Aldous Huxley was the forced sexualization of children…
The Trans Agenda in Schools: It’s Elementary
Do parents even have a role in their children’s education these days? That was the question posed to one school board in Rocklin…
The American College of Pediatricians calls this kind of transgender propaganda “child abuse.” But despite the outcry, Rocklin’s board went ahead with a ridiculous policy that gives teachers more authority than the students’ own parents. With unanimous approval, the board will now let “teachers decide if an issue is controversial.” Teachers will also decide — not when, but if — parents are notified …
