From June 19-27, San Francisco’s Star of the Sea parish, the home of the Traditional Latin Mass Society of San Francisco, will host a parish mission conference called The Source and Summit of Catholic Life. The conference will be led by Father Paul Nicholson, a diocesan priest incardinated in the diocese of London, Ontario.
The conference begins on the Feast of Corpus Christi, Thursday, June 19, with a 6:30 p.m. Mass in the Extraordinary Form, followed by a Eucharistic procession. In each of the following eight days Mass will be celebrated in the Extraordinary Form. On Sunday, June 22, there will be a Solemn High Mass in the Ordinary Form celebrating Corpus Christi Sunday, which will also be followed by a procession.
On Monday, June 23 through Thursday, June 26, Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m., followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and a mission talk. The topics are Eucharistic Radiance: Kneeling in the Center of the Universe on June 23; Eucharistic Ecstasy: Real Men Eat Divine Flesh on June 24; Eucharistic Harmony Where Flesh and Spirit Unite as One on June 25; and Eucharistic Beauty: Vanquished Victim. Victorious Viaticum on June 26. The conference closes on Friday, June 27, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with Mass in the Extraordinary Form at 6:30 p,m., followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. Individual confession will be available following all the mission talks.
Father Nicholson, who celebrated 2014’s Sacred Triduum at Star of the Sea, will preach at all the Masses. He was ordained in 1997, and has served at parishes in southwest Ontario. According to the website of the mission conference, “Appointed on July 1st, 2013 by Bishop Ronald Peter Fabbro CSB, Father Nicholson has been given the ecclesiastical office of Missionary Preacher. This new office mandates, with the bishop’s blessing, a new effort for the New Evangelization, with new ardor, new methodology, new methods. Offering the traditional parish mission and giving retreats and conferences, Father Nicholson is granted the capacity to work vigorously in the social media and preach daily video homilies.”
The website describes the aim of the conference: “Every faithful Catholic is set aflame and fortified in the Heart of Christ in every Mass and is sent out as fresh arterial blood to a dying world. Far from retreating, the Church looks toward the challenges of modern paganism with the same charity and hope as she did at her beginning. The Divine Majesty hidden in the Host comes to liberate us by stooping down beneath us, to lift us up so as to change the world. Celebrating both the missals of Bl. John XXIII and Paul VI in a unique liturgical mission, Eucharistic Pride 2014 aims to give the Heart of Christ adoration and reparation through liturgical excellence, preached conferences, Eucharistic processions, and silent adoration.”
Star of the Sea Church is located at 4420 Geary Boulevard (at 8th Avenue) in San Francisco.

If the header of the article was meant to be funny or a play on words, it is not, especially since the conference is being held in San Francisco. The assumed association of San Francisco’s large homosexual “pride” gang and the Holy Eucharist is not funny in the least.
Maybe, and there are some titles in the daily topics whose names (though probably not their contents) are cringe-worthy, but I have to say that this is a much much more positive and probably much more effective way to get the message across than the constant hitting over the head that the Ordinary Form (OF) crowd receives on a daily basis here on CCD.
Promoters of TLM so often resort to battering their OF counterparts rather than extolling what they find appealing in the TLM. Hello, I’m speaking as one who gets those concussions on a regular basis about this topic and others. “Field hospital” anyone?
YFC:
The battering is not fair (and while I wish the TLM well, I am not any sort of promoter), but neither was the lie dished out from the early 1970s that the TLM was “officially” abolished (as you can read in the Catholic Almanacs of the day), a lie not rebutted until Benedict XVI plainly declared that it never had been abolished. Beautiful churches were destroyed, good priests and lay people turned out just for demanding something they always had the right to ask for. May the new generation of bishops succeed in rebuilding bridges with those communities.
Pope Benedict said that it was not abrogated.
When the Pope promulgates a new Missal, the old missal is not used anymore. You are required to use the official lawful Missal.
The 1962 Missal could not be used without permission from the Holy See until Pope John Paul II gave permission for bishops to give an indult for priests to use the 1962 Missal in 1984 (Quattuor abhinc annos).
Catholic Almanac is not published by the Catholic Church.
YFC – every person who calls himself “Catholic” posting on this site must call out MORTAL SIN to try and save the Souls of others.
This has absolutely nothing to do with which ‘Form of the Mass’ one prefers.
Catholics must NEVER promote sodomy (or any other Mortal Sin) like you do frequently.
Do not be deceptive.
I find some of your posts disgusting in promotion of same sex marriage, and I attend the Ordinary Form of the Mass. Make no mistake about it.
Just as people like you YFC are a heretic and schismatic when you promote sodomy marriage,
those who disparage one Form of the Mass over another are heretics and schismatics as well.
Pope Benedict was very clear that there must be unity – in “SUMMORUM PONTIFICUM”.

When the shoe fits wear it.
yes, the “tag line” brought me up short, until I read the article……couldn’t you come up with something more beautiful when speaking about Our Lord in the Eucharist?
Well, God bless Fr Nicholson and his mission! That is the true spirit to begin any evangelization …with our Lord leading before . Let’s just pray they don’t make mincemeat of him with their demonic dancing and war paint.
Rayal, just because there are many sinners in SFO, does not mean that their are not some good people as well. Jesus came to preach to sinners.
I have attended a retreat in 2013 where Father Nicholson was one of the main speakers. He is an excellent teacher and speaker. And 100% in line with the teachings of the Church.
I urge anyone in the SFO area to attend the Mission Conference from June 19-27.
Thank you CCD for the info.
Hurry and check out the links provided since the 19th is this coming Thursday.
Mike, if you read my comment, it was concerning the article heading, not the good people of San Francisco.
“Your Fellow Catholic”: Good thoughts, but what is needed is a “good defense is a good offense” approach, rather than Mr. Smiley Face. The “ordinary form” and the “Mass of All Time” are not compatible. In fact, as soon as Catholics that care understand and believe that Vatican II was revolutionary, truly revolutionary, they will be able to intelligently make their choice about whether they want to pray like the Saints prayed, or make up a new religion. Remember that not only the Mass was changed by the Vatican II Mob, but many, many prayers and other rituals, from the rite for exorcism, to even small things like blessings, as well as the Church calendar. The Catholic Liberal side is correct to object to the TLM, as it is truly intended to act as a step towards a Catholic Reformation. Abp. Cordileone should have a TLM in every parish for every Sunday, as starters; and he should mandate the teaching of all sacraments in their pre-Vatican II form. Once this is done, the young will start to ask, “why did this change?” And then, Vatican II changes will largely be junked. Pay close attention to Abp. Athanasius Schnieder, who is focusing on what seem like incidental changes, but are very important: (1) communion only on the tongue; and (2) communion only when kneeling. Changes to only these two things will be revolutionary.
St, Christopher,
While I am not a fan of Vatican II, we must be truthful. The changes many of us find so abhorrent did not come directly from VII, they came from the abuse of VII through the introduction of the so called heretical “Spirit of Vatican II. Vatican II’s greatest crime was its AMBIGUITY that made such abuses probable!

What is this, Solemn High Mass in the ORDINARY Form?
“On Sunday, June 22, there will be a Solemn High Mass in the Ordinary Form celebrating Corpus Christi Sunday, which will also be followed by a procession.”
The simple truth lies in the meaning of “Infallible”. If it means that it is only infallible until another Pope changes it, it means NOTHING!
The fact is that POPE SAINT PIUS V infallibly declared that the Tridentine Mass will last until the End of Time and infallible means just that!

Furthermore, Pope Benedict XVI in his Moto Propio very correctly stated that something that is once holy can never be not holy, implying that no one had the authority to declare it illegal to celebrate the Mass of St. Pius V, and that is exactly what happened and it was an abomination!
May God have mercy on an amoral Amerika and His Church!

Ken,
The Vatican II popes, cardinals, and bishops are all responsible and will be held accountable for the abominable changes that have plagued the life-blood of the church. These changes have led to millions of souls losing the Catholic Faith and possibly everlasting life with God in Heaven. These changes have led to those holding on to the remnants of the church to lose out on the sanctifying graces rewarded by God through the 7 Holy Sacraments because the modern rituals have lost their power, they are mockeries due to their man-centered irreverent ceremonies. The loss in the reception of those graces only lead mankind to fall harder and become more blind in what offends God. That is why there are so many divorces, abortions, phony quality-of-life excuse euthanasia events, catholics turned protestants or pagans or agnostics or atheists, and supporters of homosexuals including the homosexuals contrary to Roman Catholic Church teachings: Duay-Rheims Bible, St. Paul’s Letter (Epistle) to the Romans Chapter 1 verses 24 to 31. That is why 40% of Vatican II priests (as reported) in the USA are 63 years of age or older and many many more Vatican II parishes will close their doors in the next 10 years as there won’t be enough Vatican II priests to keep the doors open. Frankly, the Vatican II Church is imploding like the other christian denominations meanwhile the void of graces evangelical party churches are growing.
Tom Byrne, Sad how even the modern church (like influencing the modern Catholic Almanac) covers-up dismissing that there was a lie, saying instead the TLM was not abolished. Do some hard research and you will find that pope Paul VI ordered that the TLM be said nolonger and in its place was to be said the NO service. I do have a copy of a credible Wisconsin newspaper from the 1970s with an article on Paul VIth’s declaration. One that was probably muffled by the modern bishops at the time in fear of getting some negative feedback and taking some losses. Fortunately a conservative and more honest press reported to the American readers back then, as they were much more trustworthy in those days than today. Benedict XVIth was only back-peddling to cover up the error and JP II allowed the indult mass, which isn’t exactly the same as the TLM.
The real evidence; however rests not so much in that article, rather on the state of the Vatican II church and the hard facts at hand. The TLM was replaced with the NO service in the 1960’s with slight planned piecemeal changes over a period of time to get practicing Catholics in the 1960’s and 1970’s used to it and accepting it with human-centered reasoning, not Divine-centered reasoning which would never support the changes to all 7 Holy Sacraments.
