The following came in an email on May 11:
“Due to the Coronavirus, this Tuesday’s May 12 special election will be vote-by-mail. Ballots need to be filled out and mailed today and postmarked by tomorrow, May 12….
“Encourage all your friends who live in U.S. Congressional District 25, which includes Castaic, Santa Clarita, Lancaster, and Palmdale to vote for Mike Garcia…
“Getting pro-life Mike Garcia elected to Congress and pro-life Melissa Melendez elected to the state senate is our most important goal right now…
“Melendez’s 28th senate district includes Palm Springs, Temecula, Indio, and Murietta…”

Unfortunately, the number of early ballots returned by Republicans was higher than those returned by Democrats, so Democrats pushed to open up another in-person voting location in a heavily Democrat part of the district. (And, this while Party leader/Governor Newsom wants to send mail-in ballots to every voter in the state for November’s election.) Is mail-in good enough? … fair enough? It seems only if the Party in power seems to be winning. Let us hope that pro-life veteran Mike Garcia is treated fairly. Christy Smith, his opponent, says he has “no experience in international affairs.” As a fighter pilot, his more than 30 missions over Iraq don’t count. Smith has a bachelor’s degree in political science from UCLA, likes to eat at taquerias and Thai restaurants and that’s about it. But, wait, she has endorsements from Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America, NOW, the LGBTQ lobbies, and Catholic leaders Pelosi and Newsom. I guess that makes her international experience more than that of some sailor who flew an airplane. Let’s support pro-life candidates (and those who have sacrificed for our nation).
It appears the prolife candidate, Mike Garcia, won this special election. Thanks be to God. Pray for Congressman-elect Garcia, as he has to face the same abortion extremist again in November.
At least there is some good news in this mixed up mess called California.
Since silver and gold I have not much of, I have being praying the “Patriotic Rosary” for each state. Evidently I should keep it up. I skip the hymns and patriotic songs mostly and just pray for the government officials and the states.
