Drag Queen Story Hour, a nonprofit, was started in San Francisco in 2015 by activist and author Michelle Tea. Chapters have since opened across the U.S. and elsewhere. Other organizations with readers in drag have also formed
As part of Drag Queen Story Hour’s programming, drag queens read to children and their parents at libraries, bookstores, fairs, parks and other public spaces to celebrate reading “through the glamorous art of drag.”
When the library in San Lorenzo, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of San Francisco, held its first Drag Queen Story Hour four years ago, people prayed across the street in protest, said Alameda County librarian Cindy Chadwick.
Last weekend, as the library hosted its second such event, at least five men — one of them wearing a T-shirt showing a rifle and the words “Kill Your Local Pedophile” — walked in and began hurling insults at Panda Dulce as she read to children and their parents, Chadwick said.
“The horrible irony of it was they said over and over, ‘We’re here to protect the kids.’ And it was the kids they were terrifying. The kids were afraid of them, and the kids were there with their parents who had brought them to this event,” Chadwick said.
A spokesperson for the county sheriff’s office said the men, who identified themselves as members of the Proud Boys, are all residents of the Bay Area. The episode is being investigated as a hate crime.
The Alameda County Library, which continues to receive threats, now plans to host a Pride event each month for the rest of the year, Chadwick said, and the sheriff’s office will provide security…..
The above comes from a June 18 story on apnews,
As long as this drag queen abomination is disrupted, GOOD!
Congrats to the Proud Boys for doing something most of us don’t have the cajones to do.
“The episode is being investigated as a hate crime.” Of course it is
Happy Juneteenth !
I want some “cajones”, too!
One of the aspects of love is gentleness. We must as men be gentle. We must offer a true alternative to this story hour. I think of someone like Patrick Madrid on Relevant Radio. With his answers he embodies this male aspect of gentleness that has strength and truth behind it. I like Dr. Leonard Sax who wrote boys adrift. One of the greatest witnesses of gentle love is at the Walk for Life West Coast, where Fathers walk with their children to defend life.
There are so many great children’s books that need to be read. William Joyce’s, Santa Calls, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, by Virginia Lee Burton, the Paperboy by Dav Pilkey, We as men need to read these to our children and grand children, in our voices. Just as much as we hear the Gospel at Mass read by the Priest, the Father.
So “Proud Boys stand down” and pick up the book, set the children gently on your knee and read.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.”
“We must as men be gentle.”
While this is certainly true at times, a man who doesn’t stand up to child abuse is not a real man. This situation is demonic.
“They want to be treated with oil, soap and caresses, but they should be beaten with fists.
In a duel, you don’t count or measure the blows, you strike as you can.”” –Pope Pius X on Modernists
I question the authenticity of that quote. Most of the people reporting it online do not give a source.
Wikipedia sources it from a book called Hitler’s Pope.
There is another commenter online who claims he learned the quote from sedevacantist bishop Sanborn. That is was written to the Bishop of Cermona (Cremona, I assume). I have found a source that talks about the anti-modernism letter from Pope Pius X to that Bishop but it did not contain that quote.
Anybody else got anything?
In the Catechism of Pius X, it is said that dueling is a sin and that those who participate in a duel even as spectators are excommunicated.
“. We must as men be gentle. ” spoken like a neutered beta male…Anger and Force are real solutions
Being gentle never won a war.
This is war.
Go get ’em Proud Boys. And thank you!
There is a time for gentleness, but there is also a time for firm action. Jesus went into the temple and turned over the tables of the money changers. Was that gentleness?
So if you are exposing children to sexual themes that are inappropriate for them and cause confusion and distrust; as shown by the children at this event who were fearful, you get the support of the library and the police. But if you are a person who objects to our tax supported institutions being used to groom children, you are charged with a hate crime. I think Jesus told us regarding anyone who harms a child, It is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. My guess is that the book that came from isn’t in the library.
“The horrible irony of it was they said over and over, ‘We’re here to protect the kids.’ And it was the kids they were terrifying. The kids were afraid of them, and the kids were there with their parents who had brought them to this event,” Chadwick said.
Neuter me this with all your violence. Are you afraid to provide an adequate solution or just shout crucify him, curcify him.
So be it. I will teach my children to love, even the unlovable. I will read to them the Saints. I will Love. Call me a neutered male, I will protect them with love. I will read to them, I have read to them. What will you do? promote violence? My children will be champions for Christ. They will be martyrs for Christ. We will stand in the Gap. We will proclaim the Truth till death.
You will promote a false gospel of weakness while the young are corrupted by perverts. Yes I will promote violence like that at Tours and Lepanto, while you shout “love”and lies I will swing the sword of Truth that thrashes the enemies of Christ. Violence today, violence tomorrow violence until the entire LGBT satanic syndicate is wiped off the face of the earth.
Though I am unequivocally opposed to Drag Queen Story Hours, the Proud Boys approach seems to only further polarize people. As Fr. Illo noted, we need more humility, not more pride. Fight the LGBTQ lobby, of course. But, fight with humility, respect and love. And, pray for those lost and confused souls and work to end their destructive influence upon children.
Okay deacon. Give us some real world practical solutions from you clergy?
“But, fight with humility, respect and love”
Will YOU be our new Dagger John?
Where is the clergy in this? Oh yeah….
At least someone is out fighting directly even if you find the Proud Boys err…. distasteful.
Real world solution: City Councils and County Boards of Supervisors control libraries. Vote those representatives out and work to have others join you in that. It’s easy to say “fight” and “get up in their faces” when you hide behind anonymity. I’m not hiding behind anonymity. And, I’ve worked to fight wrongdoing in my previous secular vocation and within the Church. Work to change hearts and our culture. “Violence solves all problems?” Are you serious? Then, parts of Chicago and abortion clinics would be among the safest of places and they’re among the deadliest. “Anger and Force are real solutions.” Sometimes. Think of the just war theory. And, often our anger is not as purely righteous as that of our Lord. I was a peace officer (Fire investigator) for a number of years. I would never obey an immoral order and, thankfully, never received one. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.” (Eph. 6:12) “Take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” (Eph. 6:17) “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12) You can’t get more “real world” than the word of the Lord, which endures forever. (1 Peter 1:25) Fight? Yes. But, we don’t need to stoop to behaving like our enemies.
“behaving like our enemies.” I guess Pius V and the Holy League would disagree with you.
Force when justified has won more arguments in history than all the words you can quote. Catholics used to know this. Some still do.
More words from our good Deacon. Deacon sez “Vote Harder!”
I was thinking of something a bit more for you. How about you lead a rosary outside one of these libraries during one of these abominations? Invite all your parish and let your diocese and rector know you are doing so. Publish the date and time here on CCD and if within driving distance I’ll join. In fact, I’ll bring my spouse too.
If not, it’s just all hot air from the clergy.
Sorry Deacon we have been doing the “peae, love and respect” thing for over 60 years and what has it gotten us, I need not tell you. You know the condition of the Church and the Culture. Fight to the Death, violence solves all problems
Sometimes you need to get up and in the face of evil people.
Neutered sheriffs providing security. If I was a deputy I’d refuse that assignment or resign
That’s harsh. And, no need to name call. They were ordered to provide security. There’s nothing immoral or unethical about that. Elected and other officials are the ones responsible. Take your frustration, even righteous anger, to them. I’m sure most of those sheriff’s deputies didn’t volunteer for that detail. It’s easy to say one would be insubordinate or quit when it’s not your livelihood or pension at stake. Protect the children. But, no need to blame law enforcement.
I tend to disagree with you Deacon Anderson. What if you were a sheriff or police officer, and you were commanded to take a child away from one or both parents, so some quack doctor could mutilate the child by trying to change his/her sex? Just how far should we compromise before it becomes a pinch of incense on the altar of Baal.
]
The Catholic evangelist, Jesse Romero, when a police officer before he retired, did tell one of his superiors that he would not do what he asked because he thought it was immoral. He kept his job. I have done similar things myself.
Anonymously calling Deputies and other CalCatholic readers “neutered” isn’t helpful or appropriate. I hope you’d agree. What’s courageous about anonymous name-calling on the internet? We should get to our City Council and County Board of Supervisors meetings and stand up and fight publicly.
Many of the people who post Anonymously on here do sign petitions, make calls, stand outside abortion clinics, etc. while using our real names. I helped get Prop 8 and other prolife measures on the ballot — with my real name. I and others got our cars bashed in a few times for our effort. It was obvious that it was deliberately done because they came down our street and bashed in all the cars of the more “conservative” people, but of course, it was never “proved” who did it.
Of course, the Prop 8 to which I referred was the one supporting marriage between one man and one woman.
If you internet search ‘drag queen story hour’ nearly every single story includes community opposition. Moms, dads and their families opposing this as anti-social disordered grooming of children. These Proud Boys guys just play into the hands of the ‘persecuted minority narrative and a willing media and make martyrs out of perverts. These disordered men love it when groups like Proud Boys show up because it validates the script.
When families show up to protest, and the perverted images and videos of these people are made public, the contrast between good and evil can’t be hidden and the perversion has to scurry like cockroaches when the lights go on.
Let the men with hair and makeup fetishes hang themselves, not promote their narrative.
GOD BLESS THE PROUD BOYS…where are the men in this country? They are after our kids.
In one portion, Parnell asks, “What about the kids that look up to you, do you have a message for them?”
“All the kids lookin up to me can suck my d*ck,” Panda Dulce is seen lip-syncing in front of stock images of children.

I wouldn’t be too quick to cheer on the Proud Boys. Look at their website yourself and see what they stand for.
https://proudboyspnw.com/about-us/
What does “maximum freedom” mean? And, they’re against efforts to eradicate the scourge of drugs. No mention of the sanctity of life.
Like many groups, they may be right about some things. But, it appears they’re wrong about others.
Keep your eyes wide open, friends. Cheer on, and support, those fighting with Faith.
