Democratic governors in 20 states are launching a network intended to strengthen abortion access in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court decision nixing a woman’s constitutional right to end a pregnancy and instead shifting regulatory powers over the procedure to state governments.
Organizers, led by California Gov. Gavin Newsom, described the Reproductive Freedom Alliance as a way for governors and their staffs to share best practices and affirm abortion rights for the approximately 170 million Americans who live in the consortium’s footprint — and even ensuring services for the remainder of U.S. residents who live in states with more restrictive laws.
The group includes executives of heavily Democratic states like California, where voters overwhelmingly approve of abortion rights, but also involves every presidential battleground state led by a Democrat, including Govs. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Roy Cooper of North Carolina, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Tony Evers of Wisconsin.
The alliance has secured its initial funding from the California Wellness Foundation and the Rosenberg Foundation, not-for-profits that often steer money to public health efforts focused on disadvantaged communities.

The Democrats see abortion as THE winning issue in 2024, and I fear they are right. If they win, it may well be by the blood of unborn babies.
Gov Gav:
Moloch very much appreciates your offerings.
Moloch will bless you very much in his unique way.
Wait for it.
Like Sentinels wait for the Dawn.
Newsom and like minded Catholic governors should be publicly excommunicated for the welfare of their souls and the clarity of the authentic teaching of the Church for the direction and betterment of society.
At its Winter 2023 meeting in January 2023, the Republican National Convention passed a resolution to stand firm for Pro Life– and fight for Pro Life against the lethal pro abortion Democratic Administration.
My last sentence in my comment of Feb. 24 at 6:37pm, was removed by the editor. I said that the national RNC resolution is a hope for unborn children. We will all have to work hard to bring Christian Morality and good, Traditional Christian Marriage and Family Life back to California, and to all America, day-by-day, one step at a time– starting right now!
Oh– in my comment of Feb. 24 at 6:37pm, I was referring to the “Republican National Committee,” not the “Republican National Convention!”
Arkansas Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders recently signed in a new law, adding restrictions on “adult-oriented performances.” That includes Drag Queen shows. Adult-oriented performances are now under the same category as adult strip clubs and movie theaters. All adult performances are now banned from public property, and cannot be funded in any way, with public funds. Minors are restricted from attending any adult shows. The final bill omitted any reference to LGBTs or Drag Queens, to quiet LGBT opposition. Good for Gov. Huckabee-Sanders!
The Governors of Tennessee and North Dakota are both looking forward to signing into law, bIlls from their State legislatures, that totally ban all “Drag Queen” and similar “adult” performances, which endanger children. LGBT activists have put up protests, but lawmakers and the two Governors are standing firm in their convictions.
