The following comes from a Feb. 15 story on AFP.
London — Bishops in the Church of England issued new guidance on Saturday warning clergy they should not bless couples in same-sex marriages, after the idea was recommended in an internal report last year.
The House of Bishops was clarifying the Church’s response to new legislation allowing gay marriage in England and Wales, which will see the first ceremonies take place in March.
“Services of blessing should not be provided. Clergy should respond pastorally and sensitively in other ways,” said the guidance, drawn up at a meeting on Thursday.
The same-sex marriage law bans the established Churches of England and Wales — which believe marriage can only take place between a man and a woman — from conducting ceremonies.
But a report last year on the Church’s policy on sexuality, commissioned by the House of Bishops, said that in some circumstances a priest “should be free to mark the formation of a permanent same-sex relationship in a public service”, without any obligation to do so.
In their guidance, the bishops also said that people in a same-sex marriage should not be ordained as bishops, priests and deacons, nor should those in the ministry enter gay marriage.
Gay men and lesbians are welcomed into the church, but the bishops said: “The House is not willing for those who are in a same-sex marriage to be ordained to any of the three orders of ministry.
“In addition, it considers that it would not be appropriate conduct for someone in holy orders to enter into a same-sex marriage.”
The new law is largely a symbolic change, as civil partnerships for same-sex couples have been legal in Britain since 2005, giving them identical rights and responsibilities to heterosexual couples in a civil marriage.

“John Bingham, Social and Religious Affairs editor of the Daily Telegraph, who reviewed the document last week has called it a ‘masterclass in doublespeak, obfuscation and internal contradiction’.

This could almost be seen as good news, but then remember the following. The Anglican Church, which was created by King Henry VIII, was the first Christian church to legalize abortion, and this was done at the Lambert Commission in the 1920’s. When one cuts himself off from Holy Mother Church, it takes a while, but soon the branches wither and die. Whatever truth may still exist in the Anglican Church is a remnant of when merry old England had the Roman Catholic faith.
Thanks for the reminder…..glad to see they still have some moral and common sense……
Why are you calling it the “Anglican Church.” There’s no such thing. Nor is there a “Church of England.” Rather, there’s the:
Anglican “Church”
or the
“Church” of England.
In other words, this association is no actual church, as the only actual church is the Catholic Church (not to be confused with the Conciliar “Church” born of the Hippie Council, aka the Judas Council, aka the Second Vatican Council of 1962-65).
Just for clarification, I think Father Karl is referring to the Lambeth Conference of 1930, which declared artificial contraception morally licit.
Follow the “Pink Money” trail – left by Billionaire Catholic Bashers
The huge amount$ of political money that flooded the Proposition -8 and other campaigns against Marriage would never have been possible if the Taxpayers had not been forced to pick up the tab for the AIds / STDs spread through the Behaviors of those who used the funds to Attack Marriage Instead.
And a few Billionaires as well…
Pink Money.

This is a disgusting slander.
YFC is there such a thing as an inoffensive slander?
God bless you Michael.
July 17, 2013 – LONDON (AP) — Britain on Wednesday legalized gay marriage after Queen Elizabeth II gave her royal stamp of approval, clearing the way for the first same-sex weddings next summer.
Now…wait a minutes…isn’t the Queen the “head” of the Church of England?
Very confusing.
So goes the [Anglican] House of Bishops..
And as for clown masses, watch over our own House of Bishops these next few days, as reports Sandro Magister @ chiesa.com:
“On Thursday the 20th and Friday the 21st of February there will be a meeting at the Vatican of all the cardinals, including the new ones who will formally receive the scarlet on Saturday the 22nd. This is a consistory that, at the behest of Pope Francis, will discuss the pastoral care of the family.
The only talk scheduled has been entrusted to German cardinal Walter Kasper, after which there will be ample space for free discussion. The debate promises to be rather heated, above all on access to the Eucharist for the divorced and remarried and on the possible acceptance on the part of the Catholic Church of the Orthodox canonical discipline that allows second and even third marriages.
The selection of Kasper as speaker has provoked some irritation among those who maintain that the current discipline of the Catholic Church is doctrinally indispensable. Already when he was bishop of Rottenburg-Stuttgart and also recently in an interview with the magazine “Die Zeit,” Card. Kasper has said that he is ready to admit that divorced and remarried persons could have access to sacramental communion.”
A mass of clowns, I say… As one impish Italian blogger notes;

Amen and Halleluia to The Church of England. The US is very wrong for approving of Gay Marriage. The Lord Jesus and the Bible does not approve of this. God hates the sin but loves the sinner.
Where, exactly, does our Lord Jesus say this?
Okay. That’s it. We should just accept the fact that there are really group of Churches who will not accept us no matter how hard we try. Let’s just move on!
