The following comes from an April 1 TFP Student Action article by James Donlon:

For the fifth consecutive year, the Catholic University of San Diego is hosting a pro-homosexual “drag show” on April 14 at Shiley Theatre. The offensive event is called PRIDE’s Celebration of Gender Expression: Supreme Drag Superstar V.

Before the drag show begins, students are invited to a reception in Shiley Courtyard “featuring campus resources for LGBTQ and Ally communities.”

However, the drag show has sparked a large movement of protest. Thousands of faithful Catholic students and parents are calling the university to cancel the drag show.  TFP Student Action’s online protest has already garnered 26,800 petitions against the show.

Eye-witness accounts of previous “drag shows” on campus reveal how this Catholic university is allowing the sinful pro-homosexual movement to run rampant and destroy the remnants of moral values that still remain intact.  In fact, one “drag” performer appeared on stage dressed like Baphomet — a satanic symbol — and sang “Good N’Evil” which falsely claims that “Good is evil” and “all evil is good.”

This is how one student described it:

The event felt more like an underhanded attempt at indoctrination than anything else. This feeling was furthered by the banning of video, photography, and audio recording, which came across as a desire for secrecy.  Even worse, the hosts of the event sought to encourage the performers as well as the audience, referring to them as “revolutionaries,” to take a more active role in making DRAG, homosexuality, and transgender identity an acceptable part of the campus.

Some of the suggestions, which resulted were gender neutral bathrooms, an increase in DRAG related events, and gay pride parades. It became rather clear over the course of the two and a half hours, that the event was less about acceptance and more about an open rebellion against Catholic values.

For the administration of a Catholic University to take part in this scandal came across as a betrayal, not only a betrayal of the Church but also a betrayal of every devout Catholic student who attends USD.

This year’s drag show promises to provide more of the same immoral propaganda.

There is an uptick of infidelity at the University of San Diego, which showcases four pro-homosexual clubs or programs on its web site: USD Pride Law, the Rainbow Educator program, Safe Space Allies Network and LGBTQ at USD.  The later group describes its mission like this: “We are a campus community supporting and identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and pansexual individuals, and allies.”

Last month, the Women’s and Gender Studies department at the University of San Diego sponsored a “Queer Film Festival,” featuring movies that blatantly promote sin and undermine common decency.

“LGBT” Scholarships at USD

USD’s web site also lists scholarships from LGBT-friendly sources.  In one web site entry,  PFLAG San Diego sets forth the following criteria: “The scholarships are awarded to LGBT high school seniors continuing on to higher education.”

Another pro-homosexual scholarship fund is the M. Katherine Baird Darmer Equality Scholarship.  This fund is available to “qualified law students who have demonstrated commitment to advancing equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in Orange County.”

The Gomez Trial Attorneys Scholarship is designed to financially reward law students who are committed to the homosexual movement.  According to USD’s web site, this annual scholarship will be awarded to a “law student who is a member of the LGBT community or has demonstrated a commitment to the LGBT community.”

In addition, there is the “LGBT Alumni Scholarship.” This fund is “awarded to an LGBT student at USD School of Law, including entering 1L students, who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing LGBT issues,” the web site states.

Further investigation found that USD recognizes a pro-abortion activist group on campus called Law Students for Reproductive Justice (LSRJ).  As a national advocate of the Culture of Death, Students for Reproductive Justice are known for their partnership with Planned Parenthood as abortion provider “escorts.”  These escorts frequently block pro-life counselors who strive to save lives outside abortion mills by talking with expecting mothers.

With multiple pro-homosexual clubs and programs and at least as many “LGBT” scholarships, one could ask if the university gives equal attention and support to Catholic programs which foster traditional moral values, and defend the voice of the Church.  However, further searches on USD’s web site only found a single pro-life group, Students for Life.  No pro-life or pro-marriage scholarships were found.
