The following comes from the Catholic Con website:
When is Catholic Night at Petco?
Friday August 5th 2016. Game time is at 7:40pm. The gates open at 5:00 pm for “Cocktail Fest”. Enjoy different cocktail vendors throughout the stadium. Post Game fireworks.
Be sure to wear white shirts!
We are asking all persons to wear white t-shirts/shirts to identify each other in the stadium. Many parishes last year designed their own white t-shirts. It is a great way to show our unity as one Catholic Holy and Apostolic Church.
Knights of Columbus
This year the Knights of Columbus will be the Color Guard for Catholic Night at Petco. Please join them in tribute to our faith and our nation.
Group Tickets
Many parishes have purchased group tickets to ensure parishioners sit together. For tickets purchases of 9 or more please contact Sean Nicklesen at the San Diego Padres (619) 795-5134. Additionally parishes such at St. Brigid and Our Mother of Confidence have rented buses to transport groups to the game as parking is difficult.
Purpose of Catholic Night at Petco
This is a great event for our parishioners, however it is an excellent opportunity to reunite those who no longer attend mass with their Catholic family. Please spread the invitation to join us as far and as wide as possible.
“Cocktail fest” on Catholic night? Thats odd…
What? We’re not Muslims or Mormons. We drink…hopefully in moderation.
” I wonder maybe if Our Lord does not suffer more from our indifference than he did from the Crucifixion. ” – Venerable Bishop Sheen
Bishop Mc Elroy does not even show unity with certain words used in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Bishop Mc Elroy also did not show obedience or unity with Rome regarding the homosexual adoption of children. What does it profit a shepherd to ask for unity at the ballpark while causing greater disunity within Christ’s Church? The faithful are not filled with apathy. They simply do not want one single bishop to ignore the wise warnings of St. John Chrysostom. That is Mercy and Love.
‘The tears of a mother: The tragedy of pro-gay Catholic ministries in the Archdiocese of LA’ – Lifesite News by Joseph Sciambra
“Missing from the meeting was any suggestion that our sons or daughters should not be having sexual relations outside of marriage. Or that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered and can never be encouraged/supported. The facilitator passed out articles for me to take home; both were very contrary to Catholic teaching on homosexuality. I was so upset I couldn’t even think of what to say. After the meeting I sat in my car and full of anxiety began to cry.”

Top adviser to Pope JPII warns of a cabal undermining Church with backing from within – Lifesite News
“The celebrated philosopher whose books were praised by Popes John Paul and Benedict points to confusions in the Church around “’remarried’ divorced persons, “models” for the family, the role of women, birth control, surrogate motherhood, homosexuality,” and euthanasia. The Church “has not been given by the Lord a mission to modify” the truths taught by Christ about all these matters, Schooyans says. “The Church is the guardian of this treasure.”

“The causuist,” he says, referring to a person who uses clever but unsound reasoning, especially in relation to moral questions, “cultivates the art of confusing the faithful. Concern for the truth, revealed and accessible to reason, is now of no interest. … Progressively, the rules of behavior proceeding from the will of the Lord and handed down by the Magisterium of the Church are languishing in decline.”

U.S. Bishop: Catechism uses ‘very destructive’ language on homosexuality | News | LifeSite
“In a poignant and heart-wrenching piece responding to the claim that the Church should apologize to homosexuals, actively gay man turned devout Catholic Joseph Sciambra wrote that the Church should apologize — to all of the people who have been deceived by unfaithful priests into believing the homosexual lifestyle is acceptable or healthy and for an ambiguous 1997 document from the U.S. bishops that failed to address the issue in a truly pastoral way.’

“Dear Pope Francis: apologize for bad catechesis, for bad pastoral programs, for bad priests, and for the apathetic Bishops who do nothing to correct them,” Sciambra wrote. “As for the long dead who passed from this life, far too young, because no one ever bothered to tell them the Truth – no amount of apologizing will ever bring them back.”

Catherine, not one of your many posts, and I mean many, have anything to do with a ball game. As a SF Giants fan, I don’t wish the Padres any luck, but can’t we stick to the subject on these posts. Try as I might, I still wander, but at least I try to say what I have to say in one comment.
I’m going to the ball game to show my solidarity with the church in San Diego and to root, root, for the Padres, if they don’t win it’s the same … .
Enjoy!
” Catherine, not one of your many posts, and I mean many, have anything to do with a ball game.”
You’re wrong, Bob One! Our lead shepherds are like pitchers on the mound who have great impact in affecting the outcome of a game. A faithful shepherd always delivers a pitch of clearly revealed truth. This enables each soul/runner to successfully make contact to navigate the bases and advance to home plate.
BASEBALL
Balk = compromise souls = Read the Messages of Our Lady of Akita
an illegal motion made by a pitcher that may deceive a base runner.
Are some of you here crazy? This article is about Catholic Night at a Baseball Game!!! I swear some people here think about homosexuality an awful lot more than any homosexual!!
If there are four Catholics in a room, there is usually a fifth.
Amen, C&H.
Bob One and C&H: We should endeavor to be more compassionate and pray for those possessed with obsessive thoughts. It really truly is a widely recognized mental disorder, it’s tough to shake, and it can ruin a person’s life.
Yes mikem.
First of all, should one wish to imbibe, do so responsibly and always practice self-restraint.
However, that said, remember too:
“Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine,
There’s always laughter and good red wine.
At least I’ve always found it so.
Benedicamus Domino!”
—Hillaire Belloc, 1870-1953
I’ll drink to that. Red wine does have its health benefits if not over done.
And here’s some G.K. Chesterton.
“Let us thank God for beer and wine by not drinking too much of them.”
