The following comes from a Sept. 15 release from the Cardinal Newman Society.
Today, The Cardinal Newman Society released the list of schools recognized by the Catholic Education Honor Roll as 2014 Schools of Excellence. Since 2004 the Honor Roll has celebrated quality Catholic education throughout the United States.
Honor Roll schools receiving this designation are marked by the integration of Catholic identity throughout all aspects of their programs and excellence in academics. This year seventy-one schools received the honor of being named as a School of Excellence, and an additional nine received the distinction of Honorable Mention. This is less than five percent of the Catholic high schools in the United States….

It is good that things are improving– but so sad, that in some states, such as Illinois– not even one Catholic school made this list! In the San Francisco Bay Area, also– not one Catholic school made the list! Also, I wonder if this list includes any schools belonging to religious orders for the Tridentine Mass, such as the Fraternity of St. Peter??

Bishops do your jobs.
You are responsible for ALL ‘Catholic’ Schools including Universities within your own Diocese.

Ask your Diocese Bishop why every Catholic High School in his Diocese is not included in the Honor Roll for Catholic Education.
And ask him if he is in the process of putting regulations in place that will insure his High Schools are on the Catholic Honor Roll within the next 2 years.
No more sins of omission.
Every student starting in grade 11, should have as REQUIRED reading – a Catholic Bible and the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition”.
Your Diocese Bishop can require this.
This alone will make certain that high school students will be prepared to go out into the world with an accurate knowledge of their Faith by the time they are 18.
PARENTS make certain Bible and CCC reading are done in your home, if required by schools or not.
To accurately teach the Faith is also a parental responsibility. When judged before Jesus, those who are literate will have no excuses.
If you love your children, you will not shirk your own required responsibility.
Do not rely only on the actions or inactions of your Bishop, Pastor, and Catholic School teachers to save your Soul and the Souls of your children.
Get to Heaven is spite of some of them.
As you can see, 95% of all Catholic High Schools do not meet good “Catholic” standards.

because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me.”

BTW – The author of the Gaystapo Thought Policing law for CA Schools (SB 48) is the leader of the Larry Brinkin Legislative Posse and heir to the Pelosi congressional seat…
– State Senator Mark “Kiddie Porn King” Leno (D- Sodom by the Sea), who almost got Larry off with a misdemeanor – although Brinkin has since finished his prison sentence, which like the rest of his Racist Pederast Toddler Rape-Porn Ring has been almost completely Censored.

LGBT movement organizing to mandate “gay history” in schools across America.
…California becomes first state to mandate “gay history” in schools
In 2011, California passed Senate Bill 48, the Orwellian-labeled “FAIR Education Act.” It requires that the “historical contributions” of “lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans” be included in courses, instructional material, and textbooks in California Public Schools.
Furthermore, the law includes prohibition of any “materials that reflect adversely” on LGBT persons or the movement.
This onerous law was the result of a well-crafted campaign by the homosexual lobby, spearheaded by a homosexual activist state legislator, and actively supported by the liberal press.

Leno Earned the title “Kiddie Porn King” after his Brinkin Bill (AB 50) making huge “kiddie Porn” collections a misdemeanor failed, barely.

Thank you for reporting the news from 7 months and 8 years ago. I’ve been behind on my reading, now I feel completely up to date.
Anonymous writes, ” I’ve been behind on my reading, now I feel completely up to date.”
Well, we certainly know that you’ve been way behind on your posts that uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church so this is encouraging. Even a ol’ prickly pear cactus responds to sunlight and may eventually even bear fruit.
Who or what is the Catholic Education Honor Roll? Their professional and other relevant background? Their Catholic theological background?
Might be nice to know in the article above.
The development of a Separate ‘Catholic’ School system reflected the Anti-Catholic bias of the system in a bygone era, when amongst other pogroms of the age the “No Irish Need Apply” employment policy was widespread.
For a while it seemed that the Public Schools were at least going to be Neutral on the subject of Faith – at least until the Age of Abomination that POTUS ‘Down Low’ Soetoro and his frothy mix of Gaystapo Misandrists ushered in, the better to replace education with political indoctrination.
In many respects the hate driven obscenity of the Abominatoin has brought us full circle – and Authentic Catholic Schools are needed now just as much as the ‘good ole days’ – albeit with Authentic Catholic Teachers.
One newer Catholic Education Website worth checking out is:
The Catholic Classical Schools Project
Catholic classical education is on the rise once again. As Catholic educators and parents feel a greater need for an education that is thoroughly Catholic, they are finding in the past tremendous resources for today’s new evangelization, which offers the hope of a new renaissance for Catholic schools.
The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education has taken the lead in this effort by uniting and drawing on the excellent work being done throughout the country. We offer this website devoted to Catholic Classical Schools to help further their work and to make it much easier for those interested in joining the movement.
Our Resources section will help you understand more about this form of education, foster networking and provide concrete advice to those looking to start a new school or transform an old one. You can even post position openings here

Thank you Michael McDermott for the informative link. My relative teaches at one of the recognized schools.

Mike Adams (Townhall Columnist) is one of the most able De-Bunkers of the radical leftist / gender feminist / homosex lobby in the field, and this speech is a classic example – of Fighting Back Against Thought Policing in Academentia.
Isn’t the going rate for this type betrayal still 30 pieces of silver, or has the market risen?
“Gates-Funded Lobby Pushes Common Core in Catholic Schools, Targets Newman Society
A Washington, D.C., organization funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation—which has invested millions of dollars to develop and promote the controversial Common Core school standards—is contacting Catholic school leaders in an effort to reverse declining support for the Common Core and to oppose The Cardinal Newman Society’s “Catholic Is our Core” initiative.
Sara Pruzin, a state operations associate for the Council for a Strong America (CSA) and former communications intern for U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, unwittingly contacted a Cardinal Newman Society leader to rally Catholic support for the Common Core…
– Pruzin later confirmed that her criticisms were aimed at The Cardinal Newman Society, and her email was part of a major effort to build support among Catholic educators.
She said the Gates Foundation grantee has reached out to about 50 Catholic educators and leaders, including superintendents in a dozen states and officials at the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA)—which is also a recipient of Gates funding to promote the Common Core…

Happy to see Paul VI (Fairfax, VA) and St. JP The Great (Dumfries, VA) on the list. Every Catholic child should attend a Catholic school and every Catholic parent should be actively involved both with the school and with the bishop to be sure that what is being taught is truly Catholic. (Yes, Dear Reader, standards vary widely, with many a Catholic school being not much different than the public ones, except for the Crucifix above the doors — on most of them, anyway.) Also, stress that students be taught Catholic Tradition, as many “chapels” fail to even have kneelers and have “masses” of great informality. It is one of the signs of the success of Lucifer that Catholic schools have fallen on such hard times, particularly in areas where there are liberal bishops and clergy.
