In an address to a German conference marking the 10th anniversary of the Summorum Pontificum, Cardinal Robert Sarah, the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, offered an extraordinarily blunt appraisal of “the disaster, the devastation, and the schism that the modern promoters of a living liturgy caused”:
“The serious crisis of faith, not only at the level of the Christian faithful but also and especially among many priests and bishops, has made us incapable of understanding the Eucharistic liturgy as a sacrifice, as identical to the act performed once and for all by Jesus Christ, making present the Sacrifice of the Cross in a non-bloody manner, throughout the Church, through different ages, places, peoples and nations. There is often a sacrilegious tendency to reduce the Holy Mass to a simple convivial meal, the celebration of a profane feast, the community’s celebration of itself, or even worse, a terrible diversion from the anguish of a life that no longer has meaning or from the fear of meeting God face to face, because His glance unveils and obliges us to look truly and unflinchingly at the ugliness of our interior life.
Even today, a significant number of Church leaders underestimate the serious crisis that the Church is going through: relativism in doctrinal, moral and disciplinary teaching, grave abuses, the desacralization and trivialization of the Sacred Liturgy,” Cardinal Sarah argued.

I agree with Cardinal Sarah. Wish he were our Pope!
Cardinal Sarah is of the same ‘ilk’ as Cardinal Burke! They are the REAL DEAL!
What a BLESSING they are to the Church!!!
Cardinal Sarah has none of the fortitude of Cardinal Burke, sadly. He has been entirely silent on Amoris Laetitia even though the issues involved directly affect two Sacraments: Holy Matrimony and the Eucharist. This silence (one way or the other) helps no one. I hope and pray he is retired or removed soon.
Cardinals Burke and Sarah are definitely the real deal! They represent the radical conservative wing that is destroying the Catholic Church. They are like the Pharisees in the time of Christ who follow the letter and not the spirit of the law. God save us from these two! Burke has been linked to Bannon.
Amen!
Panther Mom, I do not think you are even a woman. You cannot be if you want unbridled immigration from the Middle East and some other countries, which do nothing to protect women. Shariah Law condones child brides, and it cuts off the hands and feet of thieves when in full force. Totally barbaric.
Our Lord accused those who desired to leave their wives for another as hard-hearted.
The only Amen here is to the Pharisaical pretense that modernists engage when seeking to circumvent the Spirit of the Law (Staying true to God and His word and one’s Spouse) in order to provide a crafty “letter” by which to get around it.
You fool nobody.
Joel Fago, I have a deep and abiding respect for both Cardinal Burke and Cardinal Sarah, but, Joel, where did you ever get the idea that Pope Francis does not kneel at the Consecration because he does not kneel to any man? I am assuming that he does not always kneel because he has had serious knee problems in the past and now. There are pictures of him kneeling before the tabernacle when he is on a kneeler, which is much easier to do for those with knee problems.
I do think he should answer the Dubia and clear things up. There are serious problems with some of the notes. The first part of the document is excellent, but later statements undercut what he said previously.
