Job Description
Basic Function:

Thomas Aquinas College, the leader in Catholic liberal education, seeks a Director of Annual Giving to develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni, parents and friends who make unrestricted gifts of $25,000 a year or less.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage a program that raises approximately $3 million a year in unrestricted support for operations and student financial aid on the California campus, as well as $2 million a year for the Massachusetts campus.

Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 active and prospective donors rated with the ability to contribute $1,000 or more, visiting approximately four per month.

Increase membership in the President's Council, the College's $1,000+ gift club.

Identify at least 12 new President's Council prospects a year, and develop compelling strategies to engage them in the life of the College.

With the Special Event Coordinator, plan and host one or two annual events for members of the President's Council.

With the Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, promote reunion giving.

With the Director of Communications, develop and implement strategies to acquire new Annual Fund donors through direct response and social media.

With the Director of Communications, develop and implement strategies to solicit Annual Fund gifts through social media and blast e-mails.

With the Director of Communications and the Publications Manager, produce compelling materials that promote the Annual Fund and attract unrestricted gifts to the California and Massachusetts campuses.

Manage the direct mail program; draft appeal and acknowledgement letters.

Identify, recruit and train students and volunteers to promote and secure Annual Fund gifts.

Promote corporate matching gifts with employees and retirees of companies that match contributions to qualified non-profits, and manage the matching gifts program.

Supervise the Annual Fund Manager in overseeing the production and mailing of all appeals, acknowledgements and gift receipts.

Supervise the Database Manager to ensure accurate gift entry and timely acknowledgement.

Supervise the Database Manager in maintaining the accuracy of the donor database.

Train and supervise work-study students to call donors to thank them for their support and request additional contributions.

Prepare donor correspondence, action reports and marketing materials needed to promote, secure and document annual gifts.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be faithful Catholics who embrace the College's mission, are proficient with Raiser's Edge fundraising software, and have at least three years of fundraising experience, preferably in an educational setting.
