​Position: Volunteer Coordinator

​Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Stockton has an opening in the Modesto office for the part time position of Volunteer Coordinator for the Senior Assisted Transportation program. This position works to provide door-through-door transportation service for residents who are age 60 or older, or are disabled and are not able to use existing public transit or para-transit. The Volunteer Coordinator assures volunteer drivers are available to transport clients, and to do so by implementing the volunteer driver program, and by recruiting and training volunteers to provide transportation assistance to help seniors remain independent in their own homes. The person will also develop and implement volunteer schedules to ensure availability of volunteers for rides, shopping and events and will assist in providing safe, secure, and dependable travel to clients’ destinations. The Volunteer Coordinator will (a) participate in mandated reporter training on elder abuse issues and reports to appropriate agency, (b) report any van maintenance problems and concerns to coordinator, (c) coordinate with the Program Specialist for scheduling volunteer assignments and serve as a backup driver, and (d) Provide volunteer appreciation activities/events.

Qualifications

Excellent driving record. Must have valid California State Drivers’ license and auto insurance.

Knowledge of community organizations and resources in the area we are serving

Demonstrated commitment working with seniors (patience, caring, understanding)

Experience in working with volunteers and the elderly

Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred

Ability to complete CPR-First Aid training

Proficient in WORD, Excel and overall use of computers and Internet

Organized and efficient, clerical, and administrative skills a must.
