These unborn gravesites — over 30 of them across the country — stand as a powerful, moving witness to the humanity of the unborn child and the profound injustice of abortion. The largest of these is in Los Angeles, where more than 16,433 of these children are buried together. These children had been discovered in a single, abandoned storage container, the grisly reminder of the sheer scope of the abortion industry.
On SEPTEMBER 14, pro-lifers all over the country are joining together to visit those gravesites for solemn memorial services. I’m writing today to invite you to be a part of this important event.
There are 4 sites in California, but the largest by far is the Los Angeles site.
Memorial services will be held at each of the gravesites of the aborted unborn, as well as dozens of other special sites dedicated to their memory.
Come out September 14 and mourn the victims of abortion — not just those children buried in these gravesites, but ALL those victims who have never received a proper burial. If you come out and be a part of the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children you’ll be ensuring that these children will not be forgotten by our nation.

This rather reminds me of what priests and lay people here in the Archdiocese of San Francisco are doing for victims of violence: having prayer vigils, right on the street, where these (usually very young) people were killed.
Human life is precious, and when a baby is murdered in the womb, or a child is the victim of a drive-by shooting, I’m proud to be part of a Church that recognizes the sacred duty to remember the dead, pray for them, and gather in solidarity to also WORK for and PRAY for an end to more such violence: abortion, gang warfare, and other evils.
Michael, there is an essential distinction that you are not making. Gang warfare is illegal. Those killings are against the law. The resources of the state are used to prohibit and prosecute such crimes. In ABORTION the exact opposite is taking place. The ‘state’ approves of the killing. The State markets the killing. The government is PAYING for the killing.
To NOT have the capacity to make a moral distinction between the blessings of the government and its opposition is just a bit odd. If a German Catholic in 1940 equated a murder in the streets of Bonn, which the Police were prosecuting, with the government approved and sponsored killing in the Dachau death chambers, he would not be a good Catholic, nor reflecting historic moral teachings.
Very sound idea and I hope it grows. Vigils for victims of crime in our streets is something that needs to continue and grow, too.
