The following comes from an October 30 United States Conference of Catholic Bishops news release:
WASHINGTON—The U.S. bishops will vote on a proposed formal statement, “Create in Me a Clean Heart: A Pastoral Response to Pornography,” at the annual Fall General Assembly, November 16-19, in Baltimore. The statement’s development has been directed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth (LMFLY), in collaboration with other USCCB Committees and offices, as well as additional experts.
“As a response to the pastoral crisis brought about by the production and use of pornography, the formal statement intends to offer a comprehensive treatment of this important topic,” said Bishop Richard J. Malone of Buffalo, New York, chairman of the LMFLY Committee. “It is directed primarily at Catholic leaders and parents, though with an eye to all who struggle with or are affected by pornography.”
A number of bishops have issued pastoral letters on the topic of pornography in their own dioceses, and the USCCB has addressed the topic in various resources, including its 1998 statement Renewing the Mind of the Media: Statement on Overcoming the Exploitation of Sex and Violence in Communications and its 2009 pastoral letter Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan. If approved, “Create in Me a Clean Heart” would be the first formal statement issued by the body of bishops focused exclusively on a pastoral response to pornography production and use. Supplementary resources would be developed to accompany the statement if approved, such as an abridged version and targeted resources for clergy, parents, young people, and so on.
The statement requires a two-thirds affirmative vote from the Conference membership to be approved. Pending approval, it will be prepared for publication in English and Spanish, both print and online.
Wonder why our Bishops did not bring Pornography up at the Synods of the family. Better late than never.
They did.
We do not need a formal USCCB statement!! What we DO need, is lots and lots and LOTS of bishops and priests PUBLICLY CONDEMNING pornography, in fiery speeches and sermons, and demanding the final end to this filth, in our Nation! We need our Church to conduct a SERIOUS WAR ON SIN, and bring her people back to Christ! Our Lady of Fatima said that more souls go to Hell for committing sexual sins, than for any other sins!
Linda Maria, so well put!!!
I understand what your saying. I addressed this issue with one of our EF mass parish priest. He Said he couldn’t address it because children attend mass too and he cant bring it up because it could scandalize them. I disagreed with that excuse. Read what Father Kilkowley says about priests concerned about that in his integrity restored website. https://integrityrestored.com/addressing-pornography-from-the-pulpit/
Why does the USCCB need a statement or booklet on porn?
All they have to do is order their Diocese Priests to quote from the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, second edition” from the pulpit, and parish bulletin. And each Diocese Bishop has the authority as well as the obligation to do so without a group vote.
Viewing porn is a MORTAL SIN.
CCC: ” 2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.”
CCC: ” 2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other.
It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others.
It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world.
It is a grave offense. ……..”Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials. “
Good post MAC
Lets empower people and get the word about this and give the people an understanding how the porn industry hurts families, marraiges etc etc.

There is tons more resources. May God help someone reject porn and may these resources be helpful.
In this culture where its now a pornified culture and with its now redefining marraige, we need more resources that help lay faithful choose and understand God’s holy plan for humanity. Here is an excellent article to read as well:https://cbmw.org/topics/homosexuality/husbands-honor-your-wives/

They are Christian reads but they are within in line of our Catholic convictions.
“We must practice modesty, not only in our looks, but also in our whole deportment, and particularly in our dress, our walk, our conversation, and all similar actions.”
— Saint Alphonsus Liguori
“In the realm of evil thoughts none induces to sin as much as do thoughts that concern the pleasure of the flesh.”
— Saint Thomas Aquinas
Chastity is the lily of virtues, and makes men almost equal to Angels. Everything is beautiful in accordance with its purity. Now the purity of man is chastity, which is called honesty, and the observance of it, honor and also integrity; and its contrary is called corruption; in short, it has this peculiar excellence above the other virtues, that it preserves both soul and body fair and unspotted.”
— Saint Francis de Sales
“Humility is the safeguard of chastity. In the matter of purity, there is no greater danger than not fearing the danger. For my part, when I find a man secure of himself and without fear, I give him up for lost. I am less alarmed for one who is tempted and who resists by avoiding the occasions, than for one who is not tempted and is not careful to avoid occasions. When a person puts himself in an occasion, saying, I shall not fall, it is an almost infallible sign that he will fall, and with great injury to his soul.”
— Saint Philip Neri
Prayer for purity
Jesus, Lover of chastity, Mary, Mother most pure, and Saint Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin, to you I come at this hour, begging you to plead with God for me. I earnestly wish to be pure in thought, word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity.
Obtain for me, then, a deep sense of modesty which will be reflected in my external conduct. Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul, from anything that might dim the luster of a heart that must mirror only Christlike purity.
And when the “Bread of Angels becomes the Bread of me” in my heart at Holy Communion, seal it forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures.
Heart of Jesus, Fount of all purity, have mercy on us.
Amen!
What some fail to see is that this is a good deed by the V2 clergy. This has not been brought out by this new man-centered and invented religion. It is about time! Wake up those of you Catholics practicing traditional morals, values, sacraments, and prayers. Your positions have and will continue to be taught and backed by the Roman Catholic Church started by Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
