During an all-encompassing conversation with Terry Barber of Virgin Most Powerful Radio, Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas lamented the fact that the media and elected officials in the United States are “liars” that don’t care about telling the truth.
“There’s a lot of negativity in our world, and our nation is battered by a press and politicians that are liars,” he said. “They lie and they have an agenda that could care less about the truth.”
Strickland made the comments after he and Barber were talking about the rising level of fear being stoked in the United States. Strickland said people should “fear God” and not fear death, a likely reference to coronavirus propaganda being pushed with the so-called “Delta” variant.
Strickland called on Catholics to pray for their bishops, and to realize that even though there is “corruption in the church” taking place, there’s many members of the clergy fighting to prevent the compromising that’s going on in the Church.
His Excellency also re-iterated his opposition to the unworthy reception of the Holy Eucharist at Mass.
“Whether it’s a politician or a prelate in the church, or the father of a family or the head of a billion dollar business, whoever it is, we all before God are sinners who need to ask forgiveness. And if we refuse to do that, we shouldn’t go to communion,” he said.
The above comes from an Aug. 6 story in LifeSiteNews.
Bishop Strickland is a praiseworthy shepherd of the Church and we are thankful for his insight and wisdom.
I thank God for Bishop Strickland and for Terry Barber and Jesse Romero, three real men who are not afraid to speak the truth.
Amen.
I agree. I think very highly of Bishop Strickland, and enjoy his sermons, tweets, and “The Bishop Strickland Hour.”
Bishop Strickland is right, they are liars and hypocrites.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued updated guidance regarding the use of masks for protection against the spread of COVID-19. Specifically, to maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, the CDC is recommending that individuals wear a mask indoors in public if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission.
For liturgies and activities at parishes in the Diocese of Tyler, pastors and parishioners should be aware of this guidance and apply it to their individual, family, and community circumstances as appropriate in order to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Well…let’s see. The Church is not one to cast stones about lying and hypocrisy. One need only to consider the lies told by Bishops about the sex abuse and financial scandals to remember that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones…especially Bishops.
Barney, do you know of any lies told by Bishop Strickland?
(It seems you’re casting a stone at him. It’s not fair to lump all bishops together anymore than it would be to do that with all of the lay faithful.)
And, many politicians and those in major media have been lying. To cite only a few, of many, examples:
1. Abortion is healthcare.
2. Gender is fluid.
3. Families are whatever we decide and children aren’t harmed by the absence of fathers.
If you know of any lies Bishop Strickland has told, I urge you to follow the command of our Lord Jesus and communicate with him directly and privately (first, at least). See Matthew 18:15-17. Otherwise, I would advise you to not make a public accusation against him. See also 1 Timothy 5:19-20.
Barney, are you throwing stones at Bishop Strickland?
Anonymous Clergyman: you seem to be using the very same tactic for which you have admonished me. Not all politicians or news reporters are liars. They cannot be lumped together. However, everyone knows Fox News spreads information about the pandemic and the 2020 election.
Barney, leftists are inherently liars. if you claim to be Catholic will you side with the state or Christ and His Church. Decide now.
The last sentence should read “misinformation” in place of information.
And the “fake news” doesn’t? Fake news are the daily shows on CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, etc. You have to laugh at such absurdity. And I don’t even watch Fox because they refuse to give the whole truth, although some of it when it doesn’t offend anyone.
Ronnie, it is biased news. No one gives the whole truth. If you are interested in something, you do your research.
Infowars.com is the answer
I never heard of them and was concerned about getting a virus on my computer so I looked at the widipedia page on them. Maybe you were being facetious or sarcastic?
Fox news is guilty of some omissions but it’s not like lying CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, or ABC. They wouldn’t know the truth if it hit them in the head. They lie about almost everything and throw unfounded accusations at everyone on the Right. Racist, Nazis, murderers, fascists…..everything they could be accused of.
Turn off CNN, your head is exploding.
Bishop Strickland has been a runner for many years, and he likes to write and talk about it. Very good for your health!
