The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is encouraging Catholics to celebrate Respect Life Month with “a revival of prayer and action,” since abortion remains the “pre-eminent priority” in the country’s political climate.
Bishop Michael Burbidge, the USCCB’s Chairman of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities, issued a statement exhorting Catholics to renew their commitment “to work for the legal protection of every human life, from conception to natural death” this October, which the Church has observed as Respect Life Month since 1973.
“We must call for policies that assist women and their children in need, while also continuing to help mothers in our own communities through local pregnancy help centers,” the Bishop stated, adding that Catholics must “extend the hand of compassion” to those who participated in an abortion.
“Most importantly, we must rededicate ourselves to fervent prayer on behalf of life,” Bishop Burbidge urged.
He said that while American Catholics should be grateful for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, 50 years of national access to abortion “has tragically created a national mindset where many Americans have become comfortable with some amount of abortion.”
As a result, abortion remains the “pre-eminent priority” of US Catholic Bishops, given that it destroys over 1 million American lives a year.
Bishop Burbidge connected Respect Life Month to the Eucharistic Revival, saying that Jesus, who gives us the fullness of life in the Eucharist, “calls each of us to respect that gift of life in every human person.”
“While we live in a society that often rejects those who are weak, fragile, or vulnerable, they are the most in need of our care and protection,” Bishop Burbidge added.

Keep it local. Do what you can in your personal sphere of influence to save babies. Just like you should be doing what you can in your personal sphere of influence to show disdain for gay marriage. That means not being friends with abortionists and gay married people. If someone supports Planned Parenthood, that person is unfriended. If someone wears a rainbow flag pin, unfriended. Has a Democrat bumper sticker, unfriended. Do what you can. Show them their beliefs and actions are unacceptable by not accepting them. If you accept them, they think nothing’s wrong with them.

A secularized culture built on pride and concupiscence will in the end advocate abortion. The pride aspect dictates we are sovereign over all matters and can decide whatever behavior we want; the concupiscence aspect ensures that in the end the lusts of the flesh will claim the moral high ground against sexual purity. Only a strong religious revival can make inroads into this culture. Sadly, Christendom is complicit in varying degrees when she embraces elements of the secular culture, especially LGBTQ+ influence, and this compromise greatly hinders its ability to speak afresh to the lost and lonely who invariably suffer from the very culture they embrace. How can the Church speak with a clear voice when some of its clergy play in the mud, harming young boys and men?
It has been said that abortion is a blood sacrifice to Satan. It’s time America wakes up to the senseless slaughter of over 1,000,000 unborn baby children each year. End Abortion Now! Or face the judgement of Almighty God. Adoption is the option.

Are you a Christian? The issues you noted are important. But, they’re lower priorities than protecting innocent human life from death.
So have you depleted your 401k and donated all that money to prolife? If not, then you consider future economic security a greater priority than prolife causes.
It depends where your 401k is invested, in ethical organizations or unethical organizations. Pro-lifers should invest in prolife organizations as much as possible.
Before Vatican II, the Church was strong in teaching Christian Morality and how to be a good practicing Catholic, living and dying in a state of grace– hoping to oneday be blessed with Eternal Life with Christ, in Heaven. We are all pilgrims on earth. Every Catholic knew their faith well. The virtue of Chastity was very important, and love and veneration for the Blessed Virgin Mary held a very high place in the Church. Many aspired to become priests or nuns. Rectories, religious orders, convents and monasteries were full. A great many Catholic parishioners went to Confession on Saturday afternoons. Everyone knew that sex outside Marriage was a Mortal Sin, and to avoid occasions of sin, and watch yourself, act responsibly, with a good Moral Conscience– and with high respect for God, Christ, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. God, Christ, and the Blessed Mother were present on every date– never forget that!– and present on your Wedding Day– a holy Sacrament, before God, in the parish church. Be a good practicing Catholic, serve God, the Church, family and country. Not yourself, selfishness, concupiscence, pride, temptations, laziness, and sin. Not many kids grew up to choose a life of sin, or even to become criminals– as in today’s sin-celebratory, ignorant, destructive, filthy Death Culture era. Wayward, “naughty” girls and boys eventually had to conform to good standards of morally-decent Christian behavior, expected by the Church and society. Parents, priests, and others pressured them to give up being “wayward,” grow up, and become decent members of the Church and society. Illegitimate babies were adopted to good married couples through Catholic and secular adoption agencies, and adoptions were closed. Wayward kids were pressured to move forward, and reform their lives. Some wayward kids were pressured into “shotgun marriages” in the rectory– but most of those marriages didn’t last. A few wayward girls were forced into illegal abortions– a horrible Mortal Sin– that got you into very deep trouble with the Catholic Church. Today, many Catholics, both laymen and clerics, are poorly-taught in their Catholic Faith and Morals, and knowledge of sin and virtue, and how to live a good life as a good, practicing Catholic, is often unknown or misunderstood. The Church needs to return to the True Faith, and work diligently to show everyone how to be a good practicing Catholic. The modern, popular, so-called “humanistic” concept must always be placed in a Catholic or Christian context, with good religious training and a good Moral Conscience, and good judgment– just as Christ would teach the people– expecting them to listen well to Him, and work hard at being His truly committed, good followers.
Many people will recall, that in the post-WWII era, up until the shattering of our Church and society, in the tumultous post-Conciliar and late 1960s years— our Church had reached a high point of success, historically, in America, of tremendous growth and fruition. Additionally, over 100,000 Americans converted to the Catholic Faith every year, during that era. Many of them became Catholic converts due to the outstanding work of Ven. Abp. Fulton J. Sheen, and his popular TV shows and books. But in the post-Conciliar and late 1960s years, the Catholic Church, along with our society, completely shattered. With God all things are possible. We must, by God’s help, work tirelessly to restore Christ’s holy Faith, and to restore Christianity oin America. The restoration of Catholic and Christian Faith and Morals will truly “Make America Great Again!”

I found some more interesting information, online, from the April 15, 2017 issue of the “National Catholic Register.” This article stated that on average, more than 100,000 adult converts enter the Catholic Church every year, in America. In a 2020 Gallup poll, 25% of Americans said they were Catholic. Well, there is much more to discover, to read, and to learn.

No. Education and religious conversion and practice are the key. Good Christian Faith and Family values, and a good religious and moral education and dedicated practice, have completely changed many societies, throughout history– and our current, wayward, modern Western society can be changed, too. Prayer and fasting, daily Mass and religious devotions, daily Rosary recitations, and frequent hours of Eucharistic Adoration are very helpful, too. Keeping your kids away from harmful influences– public schools, and all modern Death Culture evils– and establishing a Domestic Church in the family home, with Homeschooling, and socializing only with like-minded, good families — will prepare your kids for a much better life, close to God– and contribute to making America a much better country– with a return to Christ and good Christian, Pro Life, Pro Traditional Christian Marriage, and good Faith and Family beliefs and values, someday. Many good, highly dedicated Pro Life organizations and workers are laying the groundwork fir a decent, Pro Life America, someday. Texas and many other states have passed good Pro Life laws, and thousands of childrens’ lives are being saved. Laws requiring all school students to view Pro Life videos on the stages of child developnent, such as LiveAction’s excellent video, “Baby Olivia”– from conception to birth– are being passed, in many states. Hard work, prayer, and sacrifice, as valiant, dedicated Christians, marching off to War on Satan and Sin, never ceasing, will help Christ win
all battles.
