The following comes from a December 9 Angelus article:
Well before he was named auxiliary bishop of Los Angeles, Bishop Robert Barron was known throughout the universal Church for his evangelization efforts.
Bishop Barron’s best-selling books, his award-winning documentary about the faith — “Catholicism” — and his Word on Fire Catholic Ministries brought the faithful into a deeper relationship with God and their neighbor. His YouTube videos have been viewed more than 14 million times and, after Pope Francis, he is the most-followed Catholic leader on social media.
The late-Cardinal Francis George described him as “one of the Church’s best messengers” and Bishop Barron gave the opening Keynote at the World Meeting of Families in 2015.
It came as no surprise, then, when the U.S. bishops elected Bishop Barron to lead the Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis. Catholics in the Los Angeles Archdiocese have embraced him and have been delighted by the many gifts he brings to his episcopacy.
Bishop Barron is reaching non-Catholics too. Last month, Bishop Barron discussed concerns about assisted suicide with Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in Orange County. Radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt moderated the conversation.
Word On Fire Pivotal Players Vol. 1 episodes will be broadcast on PBS SoCal KOCE from 8-9 p.m. Dec. 13 and Dec. 19. Those episodes will note the examples set by St. Francis and Michelangelo.
Congrats Bishop Barron!
Also, I offer this very recent interview with Bishop Barron on EWTN. He speaks about a number of issues, but listen to how he places the Churches consistent ethic of life and opposition to abortion in the broader context for life, and how it makes for a very consistent message. A consistent morality centered around the value and dignity of life from conception to natural death is one of the strengths we Catholics have among this culture that so often feels at odds with our values.
The man does not even believe (much) in Hell. How can he be the “messenger” of anything? Nice to have a show, nice to publish, but bad, very bad, to stand on the threshold of heresy.
Christ spoke of Hell the most of anyone in the New Testament and the most about anything, except salvation. He made it sound very real and very current.
Also, our Blessed Mother spoke movingly of Hell at Fatima. B. Barron, of course, could only suggest that belief in apparitions is not required.
But, his appointment is entirely consistent with the nitwit US Bishops (not all), many (?most?) of whom are not even very Catholic at all. Their behavior is mind numbing.
very apropos on hell. to know what salvation means requires knowing what we’re saved from.
He clarified his comments and affirmed that there is a hell and that he is in full conformity with the Church.
Bishop Barron is an excellent choice to lead this committee. His skills in communication, evangelization and catechisis are outstanding! God Bless Bishop Barron as he takes on these new responsibilities!
Many Catholics thought that Barack Hussein Obama was an excellent choice as a leader because of his skills in communication. President Obama tip toed and tap danced around the full truth. Barack Obama placed our country in grave danger because he refused to name the enemy or ever use the term radical Islamic terrorism. Similarly, the compromises within the Church have become so egregious, our lead shepherds are either silent or afraid to publicly preach about the existence or crowded factor of hell. What does it profit a skilled communicator to gain worldwide notoriety for himself while omitting the fullness of truth?

My mission — to make God loved — will begin after my death,” she said. “I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.” St. Therese of Lisieux,
Mother Angelica, shower us with leading shepherds who teach and clarify the fullness of truth!

And we knew him when he was a parish priest, then producer of Catholicism etc etc. He has and will be a good world wide representative for THE Church.
