CatholicVote President and CEO Kelsey Reinhardt is calling on Catholic bishops to speak out after former President Joe Biden accepted an award from Planned Parenthood of Delaware at its Sept. 24 fundraising gala.
“I am begging Catholic bishops to stand against this public scandal for the good of the soul of Joe Biden, battling cancer, and for the spiritual health of our nation,” Reinhardt wrote on X Sept. 24. “Even now more lives are at stake in Virginia, Nevada, Idaho, Missouri… All because THIS was tolerated for far too long by far too many.”
“Who’s with me?” she added.
Biden received the 2026 Sonia Schorr Sloan Service Award at the affiliate’s Chocolate & Champagne Gala in Claymont, Delaware. Former First Lady Jill Biden presented the award, which bears the name of Sonia “Sonny” Sloan, a former Planned Parenthood of Delaware president and pro-abortion activist.
“This is an incredible honor,” Biden told the attendees.
He called Sloan a “close friend and early supporter” and said she would have been “devastated” by the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
“In the wake of the Dobbs decision as president, I tried to do what I knew Sonny would have been on the phone telling me to do,” he said. “I took action, signed executive orders to protect access to reproductive health care, including emergency medical care.”
Other pro-life leaders criticized the award. Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, responded sarcastically on X: “What an inspiration. Truly the kind of legacy we should all strive for.”

Catholic clerical leaders should have long ago excommunicated Biden. Shame on Joe and Jill Biden. Former President and former First Lady– fake Catholics, immoral, Godless, horrible baby killers for our country, America. God’s divine justice awaits them both. Normally good political leaders should support good morals (and get rid of evil and crime) in their country and highly support and build up traditional marriage (one man/one woman) and family and protect, nurture and support motherhood and children from the moment of conception by the Divine Hand of God in the mother’s womb. And support providing of adoption services for mothers unable to raise their child.
Especially since Mr. Biden will never again serve in public office, what keeps bishops or his pastor from addressing this? They should speak with him privately first and, if he doesn’t repent from promoting baby killing and violating mothers, they should speak publicly about his public actions. It’s scandalous and mis-leading otherwise. Silence implies consent. One cannot be a good Catholic (or Christian or human, for that matter) and support abortion.
For the sake of his soul, this lost and confused man should be spoken with. He is still made in the image of God and deserves that much from the Church, his Church.
Sometimes we are called to say things that might make us, and others, uncomfortable. And, of course, things should be said with respect and charity. Yet, some things must be said. Are we motivated more by fear than faith?
Reply to Deacon Craig Anderson: Well said Deacon Craig. There should be no tolerance for abortion or anyone that promotes or supports abortion. Abortion is the murder of the unborn who are defenceless and innocent. To give and get an award for this truly diabolical act is a disgrace. End Abortion Now! Adoption is the option.
The bishops don’t care. The bishops are leftists themselves. The church is dying and really hard to find in its true form these days. Oh, you can get valid sacraments in lots of places. But where can you find a community of Catholic faith led by a truly Catholic bishop? Hardly anywhere anymore.
Reply to the times we live in: Yes we are living in very perilous and difficult times. I don’t agree with your premise that the church is dying. Remember that we are told in scripture that the gates of Hell will not prevail against the church. Put your faith and trust in God no matter what.
I may be mistaken; but I read that Mr. Biden has been excommunicated years ago? I also understand he regularly receives Holy Communion, AND basically could care less about what the Church teaches. So, else would one expect from a person who is habitually entrenched in mortal sin? Pray for Mr. Biden and his wife. They are on a bobsled going into hell.

Reply to Paul L. Kozlowski: Joe Biden has never been officially excommunicated by the Catholic Church for supporting abortion rights. However he was denied Communion on one occasion in October 2019, by a Priest at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Florence, South Carolina, due to his public position on abortion. Bravo to that courageous Priest.
The Pope and his henchmen are very decisive when excommunicating or otherwise punishing catholics who go afoul of the modernist, synodal church but say and do nothing about abortion and deviancy defending “Catholics”. These are some of the signs of the times we must pay attention to
as they are paving the way to more serious chastisements from God than we have experienced in our lifetimes.

No matter where I go, I am in awe of how many so called Catholics are dems and dem voters. Many are closet dems, and most try to play it off as being a moderate or apolitical- aka LUKEWARM.
People forget biden has been a worthless politician for over 50 years!! He simply chose “Catholicism” because, it was very trendy among dems with the love for JFK. By the way, old people still think the dem party is the JFK era. It’s negligent the Church has not educated them.
These lukewarm think they are clever, thinking they can fool those with moral conviction. Most of these sellouts, aka dem voters, are often running the churches and in charge all their organizations. The laity who has a system within a system, their little cliques and word of mouth only.
Catholic dem voters, their position is, they think they can pick and choose what policies of the satan dem party they like and don’t like. No matter their age, education, or background, they all parrot the same: “Meh, well it’s better than having Trump.” They look away on one issue, and think it’s for the better good. They compromise and sellout, then get used to it.
These sellouts and lukewarm remind me of the Pharisees and the jews who demanded Barabbas. “Give us Barabbas”, the crowd demanded. Abortion, trans mutilation, allowing in terrorists, slavery, drugs, cartel, and satanists- the dems are even worse. How do you deal with them?
You force them to put their money where their mouth is, and to lead by example. In CA, priests think it’s funny the illegals invaded, then they do away with English Mass, to enable them for what? So 30 years from now they refuse to become American Citizens? I watched how CA fell this evil.
Biden shouldn’t be bragging about anything especially for a man who would constantly fall going up airplane stairs and fall off stages. Shame on you Joe.
