My conversion to Catholicism is due largely to the influence of the monastic community in Valyermo, St. Andrew’s Priory, as it was known at the time. As a Protestant and graduate of a Protestant seminary, I knew nothing of the contemplative dimension of Christianity. It was at St. Andrew’s where I became bathed in a Beautiful Gracious Presence (please forgive the schmaltz).

I don’t know about you, but I think Taco Bell is the perfect place to get married. Think about it: you get to enjoy delicious food, save money on catering, and have a memorable wedding. Plus, you can always spice up your vows with some cheesy puns. For example:
“I promise to love you and cherish you, in sickness and in health, in crunch and in softness.”
“I vow to be faithful to you, and never go to another fast food chain. You are my one and only nacho supreme.”

While I understand and agree with “no undoing it”‘s point, it’s not accurate to say “you will always be Roman Catholic. Once baptized, there’s no undoing it.” It would be accurate to say “you will always be Catholic.” Many (former) Roman Catholics, including myself, have changed particularChurches (to use the Church’s terminology) within/among the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is comprised of six different liturgical rites, and within those rites, there are twenty-four particular Churches. These twenty-four sui iuris (autonomous or self-governing) Churches are all in communion with one another, are all within the Catholic Church and all recognize the primacy of the pope. I realize this probably seems like a minor point for most readers here, who are in the Latin Church. Yet, for us Eastern Catholics, it is not. Importantly, as noted, baptism cannot be undone.
Cue the holier-than-thou’s who only want the Baltimore Catechism to be posted as comments.
