The Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PRENDA) or H.R. 3541 sponsored by Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) is scheduled to be voted on in Congress on Thursday. If it is passed it would ban sex-selective abortions nationally. Part of the following excerpt comes from CaffeinatedThoughts.com blog.
One would hope that this bill would receive bipartisan support, but you can rest assured that Planned Parenthood will fight for even this. “The search-and-destroy targeting of baby girls through prenatal testing and abortion is a pandemic that is spreading across the globe,” notes Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action.
“Planned Parenthood and their ruthless abortion-first mentality is the real ‘war on women. Sex-selective abortion is gender discrimination with lethal consequences for little girls.”
“Could there be any greater discrimination against women than targeting girls for death before birth?” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.
“Regardless of one’s position on abortion—left, right, pro-life, pro-choice—we can agree that women’s constitutional right to equal protection should, at a minimum, protect us from prenatal death.
We call on Congress to immediately end the injustice of sex-selective abortion. The position should be pre-political and is common ground from which only a radical minority dissents.”
Following below is the list of possible Democratic Congressional yes votes with phone numbers for the sex selection PRENDA bill vote.
Three of California Democrat House members might be swayed:
Joe Baca Democrat, 43rd congressional district – San Bernardino Phone (202) 225-6161 Fax (202) 225-8671
Dennis Cardoza Democrat 18th congressional district – Merced, Modesto, Stockton Phone (202) 225-6131 Fax (202) 225-0819
Jim Costa Democrat CD 20 Fresno, Bakersfield Phone (202) 225-3341 Fax (202) 225-9308
In 1990, longtime abortion-rights advocate and then gubernatorial candidate Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said she opposed the practice and would consider outlawing it. Phone (202)224-3841 Fax (202) 228-3954

Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 7:31 AM By Albin Rhomberg It is critical that the three California Democratic Party Congressmen referenced in this story, all three of whom are Catholics, be urged to vote AYE for HR 3541, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA) to stop the abomination of sex-selection racial targeted abortions! Call their offices in Washington. I would suggest that it is even more effective to also call these three congressmens’ California district offices since that is where the staff are sensitive to California voters, especially those in their districts. . . . Mr. JOE BACA’s district office phone number in SAN BERNADINO is 909-885-2222. . . . Mr. DENNIS CARDOZA’s district office phone numbers are in MERCED: 209-383-4455 in MODESTO: 209-527-1914 and in STOCKTON: 209-946-0361. . . . Mr. JIM COSTA’s district office numbers are in FRESNO: 559-495-1620 and in BAKERSFIELD: 661-869-1620. Please call them all. Tell the congressmens’ staff people to read the story “Baby girls before Congress” and see their Congressman’s picture today in California Catholic Daily at www DOT CalCatholic DOT com.

Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 8:58 AM By Marie I went to Google and entered “feinstein” and “sex seletion”. Quite a few article references came up. They confirm that even though Feinstein said that sex selection abortion was “morally repugnant”, she would veto any legislation that would ban it. I wonder if she personally opposed the killing of jews, she would veto any legislation that would ban it. I think in this current legislation issue, some militant pro-abortion business like Planned Parenthood, would have taken steps to whip Feinstein into line to make sure she does not “personally oppose” sex selection. Planned Parenthood is feeling the heat on this one. Good.
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 9:25 AM By Curt First of all, thank you Dan. Secondly, it’s probably my oversight, but did NOR and CalCathDaily only just begin to cover this story? I wish I could have known the vote was coming up.
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 10:07 AM By Sarah Where is NOW, the National Organization for Women? Where is the protest for the rights of a female fetus, one of their own gender? The most basic right is the right of an innocent person to life. Apparently, they only want the right to abort an inconvenient pregnancy, sexual activity without responsibilty or consequences. Many of these same groups are opposed to the death penalty for convicted murderers.
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 10:44 AM By Mark from PA We should try to get everyone to oppose this horrible practice. This issue should really make people think about what abortion does to a child. People need to feel uncomfortable.
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 10:52 AM By Carolyn When I read this, it makes me ill to see how far this decadent society has moved along. If it doesn’t pass, heaven forbid, we are moving in the China direction….truly.
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 1:45 PM By Kenneth M. Fisher Albin, my friend, you should have written “Catholics” or “CINO’s” when referring to Baca and “Cardozza”! God bless, yours in Their Hearts, Kenneth M. Fisher
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 1:54 PM By Kenneth M. Fisher First off, the only reason these so called public servants can call themselves Catholic is because their bishops don’t really measure up to their tasks as shepherds. Secondly, Sarah, they have a very wide definition of “inconvenient pregnancy”. All abortions are wrong unless they are miscarriages, which are not really abortions but Acts of God. God bless, yours in Their Hearts, Kenneth M. Fisher
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 1:56 PM By Tracy So the news story now is that the Democrats overwhelmingly defeated the bill to ban sex selection abortions. If anyone still wants to believe that Abortion isn’t the “holy grail” for Democrats, then only God can help them. This is so so sad.
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 3:12 PM By InformedAndFree All three catholic House Reps noted above voted against it. Mike Thompson, also catholic voted against it. I wonder what their bishops have to say about it.
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012 4:29 PM By Dana I agree Sarah…where are they? Where they always are…trying to outdo men being men. Anything that hints of childbearing, relationships, sacrifice et al are ‘girlie weaknesses’ that they’ve outgrown (they’re so ‘above’ being mere animals) Why they chose the moniker feminists is beyond me. But that is what those who have rejected God are all about…changing their labels to hide their crimes. People who think homosexuality is a sin are ‘homo phobes’ (Afraid of them? Get real!), women wanting traditional male roles (head of the family, priests, etc) are ‘feminists’..anything to be in the victim role in order to be able to whine until you get what you want. True feminists just want equality, respect, and not be considered sex objects. This is truly the deal breaker, Sarah…if these women can’t even defend the deliberate killing of girls because they’re girls…not even attempting to use the old cliches that it’s financial pressure, my husband made me do it, I’ll lose my job…no these women are choosing to kill their own babies because they’re girls! It’s just absolutely shocking…beyond anything these people have done yet. Carolyn, it makes me ill too, for the same reason. Now more than ever we have really got to trust God and pray, and read our Bibles for guidance and comfort…and most important, to be fed from the Eucharist and spending time in Eucharistic adoration.
