The following comes from a March 31 Christian Post article by Samuel Smith:
A Christian fellowship student group is no longer being recognized at California State University, Stanislaus because its requirement that student leaders be Christian is considered discriminatory and a violation of a statewide non-discrimination order.
The University System of California is no longer recognizing Cal State Stanislaus’ chapter of the Christian student organization Chi Alpha, which under the name of Stanislaus Christian Fellowship has been a part of the campus for over 40 years.
The group was deactivated after the school discovered that the group’s constitution required students to hold a Christian faith in order to be placed into leadership positions, which is in direct violation of a state university system executive order of non-discrimination.
“I don’t feel like that attending a college/university should cost me my faith,” Bianca Travis, president of the Chi Alpha Stanislaus chapter, told Anna Kooiman of Fox and Friends Weekend.
“We had meeting after meeting with them and they refused to put anything in writing. At one point, they told us that they were done playing games with us and they no longer want to work with us about this,” Travis continued. “And so, I feel like we’ve done everything we can, and I really want to be a part of the campus community again.”
Although it makes sense for a leader of a Christian fellowship organization to be an actual Christian, CSUS Associate Vice President Tim Lynch proclaimed that no student group at a California state university can technically be “faith based,” nor can they place religious requirements on leadership positions.
“What they cannot be is faith based where someone has to have a profession of faith to be a leader,” Lynch told KMVT. “Every club is allowed to establish its own standards for how leaders are selected, as long as its non-discriminatory, and then they are voted on by the members. Fraternities and sororities must comply with all the requirements there of, but there is a gender exemption.”
Travis rebuttled Lynch’s statement and explained that it would simply not make any sense to put a nonbeliever into a leadership role of a group that focuses on prayer and worship of Jesus.
“We lead Bible studies. We lead worship services and prayer, and I don’t see how anyone could effectively lead the group if they don’t follow those beliefs. For instance, how could they lead you into a prayer to a God that they don’t even believe in?” Travis asked. “That’s why we feel like this is so unfair, and how it doesn’t make sense how anyone could try to lead a group that they don’t believe their mission.”
America has become a SICK country, with immoral, liberal garbage, replacing true education! Idiotic concepts of false “tolerance,” with institutionalized bigotry against God and religion, could someday either lead to the breakdown of all our schools– or else– a terrible national conflict! “Political correctness,” moral relativism, immorality, and denial of God and religion, are the only things these false “educators” want! Our county’s schools no longer have a moral nor ethical backbone– very immature, and a danger to all! Teachers no longer help to shape a student’s moral character, and sense of responsibility! They have no interest to help develop a student’s moral conscience, and sense of right and wrong! All of these “hippie schools” must someday fall to pieces, and be burnt to the ground! They are truly EVIL!!
Government doesn’t solve problems, it creates them. Why should a person who is not Christian be trying to lead a Christian group ? The only answer is a desire to make sure that he or she could. This requirement is absurd, as if the SCUBA diving club must admit non-swimmers, and allow them to be its leaders.
Common sense dictates that clubs centered on a particular characteristic of its members admit only people with that characteristic or people who want to have it in the near future.
Government has again proven to be nonsensical. Good rules can be enforced badly – this is an almost perfect example.
This university has: a “Black Men on Campus Club”: a Filipino Club; a Muslim Students’ Association.
Discrimination against any religious group is wrong.
You can thank the gaystapo for this one. There is no other conceivable reason why such utter silliness would reign among supposedly intelligent people.
If you take government funding, you abide by the government’s rules. That’s the part that’s always conveniently omitted from these stories.
Most Student organizations do not receive Government Funding of any kind.
They are supported 100% by the students themselves.
The students merely reserve a room for their activities in a University building (which is included as part of their tuition money).
In the name of tolerance we have become a nation that is intolerant! Especially on public college campuses, religion is no longer tolerated. On most college campuses, where freedom of expression should be the watchword, freedom of speech is no longer tolerated if even one person finds it “hurtful.” We are becoming a nation where freedom from religion is more valued than the free exercise of religion. Recent studies by PEW and other recognized survey companies show that fewer and fewer college students believe in God or profess any religious affiliation. An editorial today in a catholic newspaper asked the question’ how can you discuss these issues with people who don’t believe what you believe. If God doesn’t exist for kids on campus, how can you discuss your need for freedom of religion? It’s like two ships passing in the night.

Got that right Dan – the campus Thought Police in Academentia are amongst the most rabidly hateful activists to ever occupy a warm chair – before the occupation of the faculty lounge – where Permitted Discrimination keeping politically Un-Good Viewpoints Excluded is promoted based on the standard ‘Pander or Perish’ pogrom that characterizes this Age of Abomination…
So
Come on, quit crying you sissies! You need to fight to win. You were just hit in the mouth by a vile, pagan-loving college administration — whataya gonna do about it?
Remember the Short girls and their being roughed up by a crazed, UCSB “porn” professor” (yes, yes, that is another story). What did they do (and are still doing)? You need to square up, and hit back — and keep on hitting.
No one is going to like you, Christians. In fact, you are hated, despised, and rejected by Satan’s Team. OK. Stop whining and go back at them. What did Bianca Travis say? That they “would not put anything in writing”. That is crazy.
Go and get competent legal counsel. Sue the bastards (if your counsel agrees — if not get new counsel — not legal advice)!! Then, go to the press, and Fox News, and everyone that will make a stink about this. Such an approach sure helped the Short girls go after the thug-porn prof and now UC, etc. (How is that going, anyone??)
Not easy. Getting harder. Stop playing the victim and fight.

Talk about the hypocrisy stalking the hollow halls of Academentia – Faith Based Groups are not allowed to insist on those who actually profess the Faith to lead them, because that would discriminate – against those who are Against Their Faith (3 guesses who) becoming the Bosses and subverting the group.
As for the alleged “gender exception” – that is a Hoax, as the State has Banned Gender Science as politically Un-God, and the Citizens must Fully Believe Any Lie about Gender – if it is a politically correct Big Happy ‘perception’.
