Today at 12pm EST, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò joined LifeSite to lead a Holy Rosary to pray for the Lord’s holy will to be accomplished in the November U.S. presidential election.
The 54-day rosary novena is made up of six successive traditional rosary novenas consisting of nine days each. The first three novenas are a petition for our request, and the latter three thank God for answering our prayer — knowing that the Good Lord always hears us.
Below is an excerpt from Archbishop Vigano’s opening remarks:
Saint Pius V ordered the faithful to recite the Rosary to impetrate victory from God in the epic battle of the Christian Armada against the Turks in the waters of Lepanto: still today, at noon each day, the bells ring in our cities to recall October 7, 1571. The Senate of the Republic of Venice wanted to honor the Queen of Victories by having these words engraved on the Doges’ Palace: Not valor, not arms, not leaders, but Our Lady of the Holy Rosary made us victors. We too, who fight an even more bloody battle without a deployed army against an even more terrible enemy, ought to have recourse to the Rosary, with the same faith that strengthened the arm of the valiant leaders of Lepanto.
Let us pray for the United States of America; let us pray for our President; let us pray for his victory, that the Lord God of Hosts – Dominus Deus Sabaoth –will grant that he may know how to place himself under God’s protection and may desire to make himself the knight who fights for the just and the defender of the oppressed. Let us pray that the snares that the invisible Enemy plots in the shadows may come into the light, and that those who want to promote vice and sin, and rebellion against the Commandments of God and the very laws of nature, may be defeated. Let us pray with the faith of children who run gementes et flentes to their Queen, so that she may intercede for us with her Divine Son and obtain for us the grace to see the beloved American nation protected as well as the whole world, our families defended, and our adversaries defeated. Then we too will be able to write: Not valor, not the power of the media, not economic resources, but Our Lady of the Holy Rosary made us victors. So may it be.

God bless Archbishop Vigano so brave, we know who he is praying to win in November and yes he is still in hiding from the Vatican.
I’ll make up my own mind for whom to vote in November. I believe the Church charges one to form an informed judjement about their vote.
“our’ President?
1. This guy needs to man up and come out from hiding. Face the music, which is likely to be Gregorian chant.
2. He’s consciously cultivating a personality cult around himself among the traditionalist, anti-Pope-Francis crowd. Very bad sign.
3. Whether these prayers will do any good? Who can say? “The Good Lord always hears us,” but I ask: when will he DO something for us? Face it: lots of recent prayers haven’t worked. Things have gotten worse for the Church. So what gives? Where are you, God? I ask that along with Jeremiah. “To me you are a deceptive brook whose waters are unreliable.” (Jer 15:18)
Prayers haven’t worked? They are not spells!
Maybe there not spells, but if prayer does work there should be a noticeable, measurable effect. Like the guy who was drowning and prayed and God sent a floating tiki bar with priests and seminarians on it to save him.
A prayer is a praise, a thanks, an apology or a petition to God. They don’t ‘work” in the sense that you can manipulate God. God is a person with His Own Will and he is all-Good and all-Knowing. People say to be careful what you pray for because we do not have foresight and cannot know the best thing for ourselves.
The answer to a prayer may not be immediately noticeable and measurable. It could be. Remember, Matthew 13:58.
Hey Kevin, I think it’s time for you to do some serious discernment….
And read the Lord’s answer, Kevin t., to Jeremiah in 13: 19-18. The evil always persecute the prophets of God, but in the end the righteous win if they turn back to him. Not easy to believe, I no, but necessary.
Vigano, Schneider, Muller, Burke… if your pastor regularly refers to or quotes these guys I recommend finding a different parish.
I note that Cardinal Sarah has been quiet lately. Maybe he’s writing his next book.
Ah Kevin T. and Carol spoken like true Novus Ordonarians, ill take ALL of the prelates listed above in New York minute all holy men of The Church and yes defenders of The Traditional Latin Mass. And by the way Vigano can’t come out from hiding he has a price on his head head Kevin T. And you can have Gregory, Bambera, Cupich, Barron and the rest.
Your obedience is due to you local ordinary. This new trend of selecting celebrity bishops is dangerous to the Church and to your souls.
No Bishop, especially a foreign one, on either side of the political spectrum, should intervene in US elections. We need to put an end to foreign interventions in American elections. We aren’t children. We can think for ourselves. Stay home. You have overstayed your welcome.
Stating an opinion is not intervening in a US election, you are being most unwelcome to a foreigner. Archbishop Vigano is as free to speak as you are, and just as most will thankfully ignore you, you’re free to do the same. There’s plenty of need for moral voices because modern heathens are always trying to shut them up.
I don’t want foreigners intervening iand influencing n American elections. Prelates most of all.
Foreigners have always interfered in our elections. Name one major country that has not done so? Name one country that has not tried to hack us, or would not try to do so if they could? If they do not try from the outside, they try to do so internally, and our government does the same to theirs.
Too late… Obama already acted as president.
Jesus said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” this raises many questions. Does the father hear his son? What was his answer? My guess is that he answered, Yes! I will! But they must ask! That is first. Secondly, is the idea that somehow you have the inside track on God’s eternal plan. Of course, you don’t and asking anything that falls outside the grand plan is an absolute NOOOOOO! And you need not understand God’s will in these matters but if you are to become a holy person, you simply ask in all things that his will be done.
God bless Fr. James Altman. He is being attacked by some very vile people. May God give him wisdom and fortitude to do the right thing in spite of the cowardice of so many others, who should be speaking out about the true teachings of the Church.
