After a very long stay at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Archbishop John Quinn is moving into skilled nursing care this afternoon. The move reflects a decided improvement in the Archbishop’s health, for which we give thanks to God! His new address is The Jewish Home of San Francisco. This facility is known for its specialized care, which suits the Archbishop’s needs at this time, and he has expressed his delight to be experiencing the fruits of inter-religious cooperation that he has championed throughout his life.
The archbishop emeritus has been hospitalized since November, 2016 after experiencing complications resulting from emergency surgery. He had fallen ill during a trip to Rome for the consistory that elevated 17 to the rank of cardinal, including Archbishop Quinn’s friend, Cardinal Blase Cupich.
Please continue to keep Archbishop Quinn in your prayers throughout his transition ahead. Understandably, visitors are restricted at this time.
