The following comes from an August 31 Valley Center Happenings article:
St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church is one of the latest churches in San Diego County to go solar with the installation of a 64.83kW solar system. The church has gone solar in partnership with Sullivan Solar Power, who have a Catholic Solar Program.
“St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church has demonstrated its environmental stewardship by generating clean solar energy,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power. “The savings from this system will help the church further invest its resources into serving the people of Valley Center and Pauma Valley.”
St. Stephens serves the community with a parish membership of over 1,300 families. The new solar system will offset over 164,000 pounds of CO2 emissions each year, which is equivalent to the carbon sequestered from 70 acres of U.S. forests in one year. The financial savings the solar system generates will assist the work of the church in supporting its parishioners, community and local area.
“We are thankful for Sullivan Solar Power for helping push this project through,” said Father Elmer Mandac, pastor at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church. “The cost savings from this project will support the efforts of the church within our community.”
How about going TLM!!!!!!
Amen
This is uncharitable really. Why force people to go to a form of the Mass if they’re perfectly happy with the Ordinary Form?? And I say this as a devotee of the Extraordinary Form myself! The aim is to make the OF reverent, because it is the NORMATIVE, ORDINARY way that the Church today offers the Sacrifice of Our Lord. It is not by any means inferior. I know because I also attend the OF. If the OF of the Mass creates saints (and many adherents of the OF are perceptively saintly for for they DO NOT GENERALLY COMPLAIN as vociferously, they respect the hierarchy, they are more at peace with liturgy in whatever form).
Janek & Rayall, Amen & positive proof too: Seminaries of the TLM orders are full. Traditional religious orders are healthy & growing too. AND, if you are familiar with the TLM parishes, the young don’t seem to be missing from the TLM masses. They even return AFTER college. Why is that? While all this time the NO is diminishing in most if not all areas — church attendance, seminarians, religious orders, etc. So if a good tree is measured by it’s fruit, the TLM tree is fruitful & the NO tree is not technically growing by the same measures. God only knows if the NO will eventually wither (fewer in the pews already) & die out? Pray for the universal & robust return of the TLM option everywhere. Praise be to God.
Yesterday, P Francis gave his address for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, entitled “Show Mercy to Our Common Home”:
https://press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/en/bollettino/pubblico/2016/09/01/160901b.html
Of couse, PF’s favorite topics, such as wealth redistribution from rich to poor countries and a “political consensus” on “global warming” are all there.
But let us just count the number of times certain references are made: Other than the final prayer, God/Father/Lord is mentioned 8x’s; Papa Francisco refers to himself (“I/me”) 5x’s; and Jesus Christ–Who?–gets no mention.
…
It is a new and interesting faith that we have.
Actually if you look at the UN position document entitled “Our Common Future, From One Earth to One World”, you don’t really need papal encyclicals or addresses any more: just go to the source:
https://un-documents.net/ocf-ov.htm
Remarkable similarities, and you don’t have to worry about God, Father or Jesus Christ at all.
C, Thanks for the reference. The UN does not hid their agenda for 1 World Globalism. Why does it not get much press? Afraid the masses might catch on & try to scuttle or delay losing their country, their freedoms & their God given rights? (Brexit being an example of the people waking up to the UN agenda of the EU.) BO & HC both flaunt their global (socialist) agenda & our press, for the most part, gives them a free pass. Maybe they think we are not smart enough to figure it out before it is too late. God help us. Have we had ‘enough’ of 1 World socialism yet? May God bless us so that EXIT happens soon in America. It’s our duty to put America & Americans first. Praying.
What? Another example of wrong focus in the church. Solar costs usually break even after 20+ years & by then, parts/panels replacement costs erode any ‘savings’ so is it a good financial decision? Or just another ‘feel good’ diversion while the world inches closer to the gates of hell? Thank God for the words of Cardinal Burke re: Proper church priorities found @ http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/cardinal-burke-on-u.s.-bishops-shifting-priorities-life-issues-always-come/ Cliff note version: Get back to basic issues. LIFE trumps justice & environmental teachings. Praise be to God!
Have you seen how many centuries it will be to retire the Diablo Canyon (Yes…devil’s canyon) nuclear power plant?
Do you have any appreciation for the lives that will be lost due to violent weather if we don’t act?
Can you seriously take yourself seriously?
Anon, errrr…you must be in the ‘global warming’ camp. Or do you call it ‘climate change’ now? I mean it’s been sooo many years since A. Gores’ fake crisis timeline of events (the sea will rise 10 feet, etc.). Heck, the mean temp hasn’t even budged and that was just published! Did you miss that and the multitude of facts, evidence & other data, like scientist de-bunking the global warming & climate change falsehoods? So yes, you can bank on zero lives being lost to this science fiction.
And former global-warming alarmist, author of the [fake] “hockey-stick” curve theory of warming, Penn State’s Michael Mann, now says he had it wrong: there is no global warming.
https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/02/28/study-the-pause-in-global-warming-is-real/
It’s OK to admit the truth: there is no global warming: it’s all a scam. Seriously.
Of course no mention of the Silent (Silenced) Partner subsidizing all this: John Q. Taxpaper, Indentured. Follow the money.
Global Warming vs. Eternal Warming
“Go ye, therefore, and sell solar panels to all nations” – The Gospel of George Soros
Something tells me that after these Happy Valley aging New Agers cut the festive ribbon, they celebrated their “environmental stewardship” and St Stephen by getting stoned.
