Angelus News, the multimedia platform of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, has entered into an editorial partnership with renowned Vatican analyst John L. Allen Jr. and his Crux Catholic Media company, to provide exclusive news and analysis for its weekly magazine, Angelus, and its website,

“Our expanded relationship with Crux allows us to build upon a solid foundation and shared vision to provide smart, independent Catholic journalism,” said David Scott, the Archdiocese’s vice chancellor for communications. “We are honored to be able to offer Angelus readers exclusive original reporting on the global Church every week from John and his collaborators, including such fine writers as Inés San Martin, Christopher White, and Claire Giangravé.”

Angelus launched on July 1, 2016 and has served as the “print home” for Allen’s writings and that of his Crux colleague Inés San Martin, one of the top writers on the Catholic Church in Latin America. Under the new agreement, Angelus will also supply original reporting and other content for use on the website as well as support for Crux’s social media operations.

The agreement announced today is editorial in nature only. Crux and Angelus retain their full independence, journalistically and financially.

Crux is an innovative entrepreneurial venture in Catholic news, launched by Allen in cooperation with the Boston Globe in 2014 and becoming independent in 2016.
