A new report from the Guttmacher Institute shows abortions increased from 2017-2020 and approximately 930,000 babies were killed in abortions in 2020 during the first year of Covid.

The report from the pro-abortion group previously affiliated with Planned Parenthood is not surprising given the extraordinary ways in which blue states promoted abortions during that time period. Several states from California to Illinois to New York legalized abortions on demand up to birth, passed laws funding abortions, allows nurses and other non-doctors to kill babies in abortions and made it easier to purchase dangerous abortion pills that end the lives of unborn children.

Some 862,000 babies were killed in abortions in 2017 but the Guttmacher report indicates that number increased to about 930,000 babies who lives abortion destroyed by 2020.

During the time period, blue states saw significant increases in aboritons. Abortions increased in New York from 2017-2019 as the state expanded abortions and and Illinois, which put taxpayer funding of abortions in place in January 2018 and had multiple new abortion centers open, saw abortions increase 25%. Covid helped reduce the number of abortions as they declined 2% in Texas and 6% in New York as there were fewer pregnancies due to the pandemic.

Still, abortions nationwide increased 1% from 2019 and 8% from 2017 after declining for decades from their high of about 1.5 million abortions in the 1980s.

….Another 2021 study by the Charlotte Lozier Institute found that abortion-related emergency room visits by women taking the abortion drug increased more than 500 percent between 2002 and 2015. Researchers, looking at Medicaid code records, found “423,000 confirmed induced abortions and 121,283 subsequent ER visits occurring within 30 days of the procedure.”
