The following comes from a January 17 release from Christian Newswire.
On Jan. 25-26, 2013, despite several efforts to persuade us against representing the victims of abortion at their own marches, Created Equal will travel to Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA (working with our friends at World Life Organization) to display our abortion video on 2 jumbo TV screens simultaneously.

Great idea, but it should be shown at Justin Herman Plaza where they will be celebrating Roe v Wade. We keep preaching to the choir. Very few see us on Market Street… we had more clout on the Embarcadero–tourist area.
I agree that the original route of the West Coast Walk for Life was the most powerful one. Currently, we march between canyons of empty business offices in towering empty buildings.
Will someone join me in requesting sufficient port-a-potties? With 30-50 people lined up behind each port-a-pottie, I am unable to attend the walk due to kidney problems.
Hallidie Plaza is a great place for the Walk. In previous years, it was the place where the pro-abort crowd did their thing, led by (ex- Catholic, ex-Kimberly Guilfoyle’s, ex-Mayor) Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris and got plenty of coverage from the liberal SF Chronicle nearby.
Apparently this year, the places switched. The pro-aborts now have Justin Herman and we have Hallidie. Hallidie has more people on weekends in that more people and tourists go downtown; close enough to walk to the Civic Center, Moscone Gardens, and Chinatown. It will be the height of hypocrisy if the nearby SF Chronicle ignore us, but they’ve always ignored us anyway. And that paper is no longer as powerful as it used to be. Hallidie will be convenient for people to walk to after attending Mass at the Cathedral, or St. Boniface, or St. Patrick’s, or Old St. Mary’s.
My friend Rosie and I (and her friend Judy whom I’ve never met) will take the ferry from Vallejo. We expect to see the more despicable pro-abort people as we leave the ferry building, but that’s expected. Hold on to your rosaries.
I will be at the West Coast Walk for Life with my husband and son and I have no problem with this video. Americans are moved by pictures and the ugly truth of abortion has been hidden for way too long. If we can’t see it, it won’t affect us. This is why abortionists fight so hard against informing women of the Truth about abortion. San Francisco city council declared the same day a “celebration of women, life and liberty”. They are trying to counter the efforts of the Walk for Life. I hope the pictures move news media to cover the Walk. They normally ignore the fact that thousands of people are marching for the unborn.
The March for Life folks do not want to confront or really make change. if they did, they would be marching around Planned Parenthood or any abortion mill.
Most media ignore these marches as rather harmless, non-controversial, and non-newsworthy.
Photos and videos are a great idea, so are pamphlets and big signs.
If the D.C. March for Life was given 1/1000th the coverage of the inaugural events or the beauty of Michelle Obama’s wonderful new haircut and bangs, the world could change. As it is, most of us realize that EWTN will cover the March but the secular media would die before showing the truth to this nation of ours.
My mother did kill her own grandchild, through kidnapping her daughter through trickery and delivering her to a pre-arranged abortion, physically forced on her at 19. Of course she got away with it Scot-free, and felt victorious instead of shame-filled, sorrowful or in any way repentant. However, in the eyes of her daughter, all right-thinking human beings, the Catholic Church, and, I sincerely believe, in the eyes of God Himself, the act was murder, and thus what else can my mother be called but a murderer? My mother, the murderer, today’s society, the co-conspirator, my president, the supporter of child murder. This man that so many admire to the point of near-religious fervor has stated publicly words that convey that he would approve of the murder of his own grandchildren. Why does this not make him the equivalent of Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin, etc., etc., who also approved of the killing of their own people? I am horrified and appalled that people could dare to defy God by approving of abortion and/or actively seeking to make sure it happens if the mother wishes to murder her child, or in some cases, if the grandparents wish it so strongly that they talk their child into it? In rare cases, the grandparent, or in countless cases, the government (as in China even today) physically forces the murder of the child God sent us. By what twisted logic do we deign to pronounce barbaric such things as medieval torture chambers while in modern times we see the murdering the children of God and do little to stop it? I pity anyone who will be forced to face the baby in heaven that they murdered during their lifetimes on earth. Only profoundly sincere sorrow and repentance will do for such pitiful souls as child murderers. If we believe in the concept of “faith and good works,” rather than the Protestant ethic of “by faith alone,” I should think that also required would be active good works to stop this evil practice of murdering children before they are even born, though these things are, of course, above my pay grade.
Maryanne Leonard, you have my sincere sympathy.
Thank you, k. Every abortion of a human being is the intentional murder of a human being, whether forced or freely sought out, and as such should be universally denounced, criminally investigated and prosecuted, and the perpetrator(s) deprived of a life worth living, which is still not as devastating to the person(s) deprived absolutely of life in any form. Defying God’s will in murdering a human being is a mortal sin and will be dealt with by God in God’s own time, but this world will not be made safe for human beings until none among us is ripped out of our mother’s wombs and murdered. It is a tragedy that we have become inured to the fact that in our own time our most innocent fellow human beings should have become our most frequently and casually murdered, often without remorse. We must do all we can as individuals and as Catholics to reverse this horrifying fact. I hate the thought that we may go down in history as the generation that changed our tradition of protecting children to a legacy of murdering wholly innocent children. We must actively join forces again and again until we reverse this shameful new right to murder our own inconvenient relatives without earthly consequence. How many of us have undesirable relatives? Who among our inconvenient family members is next to be murdered openly without earthly consequence?
Thank you for your witness, Maryanne. No person should have to go through what you went through. Yesterday I was at a small gathering in front of our courthouse to witness the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. A priest and a minister gave talks and they handed out pamphlets. It was only a small group of about 30 people. In past years we have had press coverage but this year we didn’t.
Thank you, Mark. I really appreciate that you marked this terrible anniversary with a visit to the courthouse, especially at this time of year. I am glad to learn that both a priest and a minister attended and the other group, and I am sure there are many more who marked the anniversary with you in somber spirit but couldn’t or didn’t make the gathering. We need to keep speaking up about the reality of what abortion is so that we can help sway public opinion so strongly that either we change hearts and the practice becomes virtually unheard of again, or we manage to change the laws eventually to prohibit it. I am not surprised about the lack of coverage, as we can no longer get coverage of our prayer warriors protesting in front of the local abortion clinics in Ventura County either, no matter how many letters, calls and e-mails we send, as it just isn’t news to journalists anymore. None of this should slow us down. I remember the impact of the first time I drove by a group of nuns, priests and lay people gathered in front of a building, which caused me to slow down in wonderment. When I read the signs and realized they were in front of an abortion clinic, my heart leapt with joy! Finally! Voices in the wilderness back in those days, but voices nevertheless. Slowly the tide of public opinion has turned against abortion, and someday people will stand united against the barbarism. I’m sure God is on our side, and in the end our voices will be heard throughout the land, media coverage or no media coverage. Keep the faith, Mark!
Thank you so much for your thoughts, Maryanne. I am thankful for my mom. She was such a great mom and when I read some of the posts here I realize how blessed I was to have such a wonderful mom. Life wasn’t always easy for her but she was always giving for her family.
Maryanne,
My heart goes out to you. My good mother also self aborted my big brother, but God had his way of showing my mother that even though it was not common thought in those days of the Depression that the fetus was a human being, that her son was indeed a human being because he saw to it that she did not succeed completely. My aborted brother’s twin is now my big sister and my mother raised my big sister with love.
God had even more ways of bringing my mother to complete repentance when he gave her me, a person who turned out to be a pro-life and pro-Catholic Leader. His mercy endures forever. Pray for your mother as will I.
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Thank you so much for all you’ve shared, Kenneth. You made a good point in reminding me to pray for my mother. In so many ways I loved her but was so shocked and stunned by what she did that it took me decades to even wrap my head around it, and my feelings toward her were so strained and confused that when she died, I actually forgot to pray for her soul for years, believe it or not. I guess I was just so numb, and I knew she didn’t believe in Purgatory and wasn’t afraid of the Devil, being a “fallen-away” Protestant, as it were. Pretty darn dense of me, and I wonder at my blindness: just because she didn’t believe it, didn’t mean she was not subject to this upon dying. When my dad died, I prayed for his soul and forgiveness, as he was a believing Catholic, former altar boy, etc. When I think of my failure to see how much she needs my prayers, I am ashamed and try to make up for it. I hope it is not too late. It is so hard to accept that this actually happened, but to save my own soul, I must forgive as best I am capable and pray for her soul too. I suppose we are all complicated people, but my head is still working on how to get over the contrast between all the good she did and the horrific bad things she did, but I believe she may not have been as sane as I had always assumed, growing up. I know I must not judge, but what a job it is to forgive a murdering mother. I hope people all soon learn to follow Jesus’ teaching, “Love One Another.” Had this been happening, I would not have been raped, and my mother would not have arranged for the murder of the child conceived as a result, and I would not be having so much trouble trying to make sense of all the tragedies that ensued from this all these years later. But this is the cross I was given, and I know it is as nothing compared to that of Our Lord’s. I must bear it until I get to meet this child and love conquers all once again. Meantime I must learn to forgive her as best I can and then try and try to forgive again, until I’ve finally made it, and pray for her soul and that of all who have erred so grievously as to end the life of an innocent baby.
I remember being at one of the first SF walks. I had brought some “politically incorrect” signs with me – but I was NOT ALLOWED to walk with them as part of the official walk. Why? They showed the bloody truth about abortion. The leaders of the walk did not want to offend anyone and so decreed that no one would see the ugliest side. They apparently do not believe what Father Pavone knows: American will not reject abortion until America sees abortion. When the Walk for Life starts getting serious about stopping abortion, I will support their movement.
Yes, for some reason these walks have morphed into promoting a sort of feel-good, holier-than-thou, “party atmosphere.” No one walking seems very sad or remorseful about the tragedy and death that abortion represents. To paraphrase your statement, America will not get serious about abortion until we we get serious about abortion.
Dave,
Although in some respects I agree with you and Marie, I don’t think anyone walking with Her Rosary in their hands is in a “party atmosphere”. I also don’t beleive that anyone with the Rosary of the Most humble of humanity in their hands is not sad and remorseful. She puts those who want to serve Her Son by serving Her in the right frame of mind!
Viva Cristo Rey!

Kenneth, I guess all I can say is come see for yourself; in my opinion the March for Life here in SF has basically been turned into a rah-rah political rally and an event were people come to socialize and dine on picnic lunches. According to the WSJ (hardly a liberal rag), popular support for Roe v. Wade is at its highest point since the decision was made forty years ago. I think we need to realize that the current tactics of the pro-life movement, though probably originally well intentioned, are simply ineffective and maybe even harmful to the cause. Since politics has become the new religion in the United States, the pro-life movement has diverted attention away from abortion as the extremely deep spiritual and moral crisis that it is, and has turned it into a political problem (see the video referenced above, which though true, is a good example of this) — with the very illusory offer of political solutions. I’m sorry, but at its core, abortion is not about who is president — abortion is about women and men who think it’s perfectly OK to kill unborn children and that’s what will need to change. EVEN IF Roe v. Wade is ever overturned — which always is set up as THE “holy grail” by the pro-life movement — people are going to be shocked to find that not one additional unborn life will be saved in the State of California. It’s past time the pro-life movement woke up. Less partying and more praying.
Isn’t that the way the Church is now? I complained once at a parish meeting that no sermons spoke about euthanasia or abortion. Another woman got up and said that this was a middle of the road parish and no one wanted to hear about those things. People applauded her.
Stephanie,
You can rest assured that Satan applauded her, and the Mother of God applauded you for standing up in spite of the ridicule!
Viva Cristo Rey!

Our pastor finally preached about abortion last weekend, and also about his ongoing work with Project Rachel — only to have some angry woman yelling at him on the plaza.
“There are OTHER issues besides abortion!” she was screaming at him, and we all heard her rant and rave.
I guess she wants to have copies of his sermons in advance, so he can’t bring up any topic she dislikes. (This is a good priest and excellent preacher, and it’s not like he talks about abortion at every Mass, but this woman’s reaction was so vehement, it made me wonder what in the WORLD was going through her head…)
I wonder how many of the Marchers are registered as Democrats, the official Abortion Party?
I continued to be dismayed that so many Catholics are still registered as Democrats.
I am waiting for the bishops to personally disassociate each of themselves from the Democratic Party. That would be more meaningful than anything they have done.
Thank you, Father Joe. What a blessing it is to read your words. You give priestly voice to what so many faithful Catholics are thinking as well. Thank you for your courage in speaking out.
Father,
I believe my late Spiritual Father, Bishop Austin Vaughan was the first to leave the Party of Death and he made it very public. He also had quite a bit to say about the status of the souls of many, far too many, of his brother bishops. Bishop Lynch also joined him and so did then Anglican Bishop Pope who eventually became Catholic Father Pope. I had the Grace and joy of knowing them all.
How I miss his gentle but firm soul, I am looking at his picture right now!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Two things: Mark from PA managed to write a post without ONCE mentioning his subtle and avuncular support for gay rights/marriage, so CONGRATULATIONS for that! The other, I never saw anything from Maryanne L. before that so revealed herself as she did today. That took a bunch of moral fortitude, and I APPLAUD her for that. Very gutsy.
But I must mention again something I will NOT stop harping on: the VITAL NEED for all Catholics and Evangelicals, even atheists (there are some) who agree that we MUST rid ourselves of the current occupant of the White House, Barack Hussein Obama. And the constitutional remedy is IMPEACHMENT. He certainly has done his share of committing acts of treason, bribery and high crimes and misdemeanors. Just google them with his name and you can find plenty of examples. Let’s ALL work to get rid of him. GOD BLESS ALL, MARKRITE
