A vote that may haunt Democrats

2019-02-26T09:59:18-08:00February 26th, 2019|

The following comes from a Feb. 25 story in the Daily Signal.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would have mandated that babies born alive during an abortion would receive “the same degree of professional skill and care to protect the newborn as would be offered to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.”

The Senate voted 53-44 in favor of legislation that would protect survivors of abortion, falling short of the necessary 60 votes to proceed as Democrats blocked the bill when only three of them joined Republicans.

Sens. Doug Jones of Alabama, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, and Bob Casey Jr. of Pennsylvania were the only Democrats to vote for the bill. All other 44 Democratic senators voted against the bill.

Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Tim Scott of South Carolina, and Kevin Cramer of North Dakota were not present for the vote.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would have mandated that babies born alive during an abortion would receive “the same degree of professional skill and care to protect the newborn as would be offered to any other child born alive at the same gestational age,” according to Sen. Ben Sasse’s website.

“This bill isn’t about abortion,” Sasse, R-Neb., said, adding:

I’m pro-life. I’m unapologetically pro-life, but this bill is not actually about anything that limits abortion. This bill doesn’t have anything to do with Roe v. Wade. …

What this bill does is try to secure basic rights, equal rights for babies that are born and are outside the womb.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., challenged Sasse’s legislation, saying that it was “carefully crafted to target, intimidate, and shut down reproductive health care providers.”

Sasse then called out Schumer for misrepresenting the legislation.

“This language is … too blunt for many people in this body … Infanticide is what [Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act] is actually about,” Sasse said. “Are we a country that protects babies that are alive, born outside the womb, after surviving a botched abortion?”

Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, also attacked the bill.

“The legislation we are debating today is just the latest salvo in the far right wing assault on a women’s constitutionally protected right to an abortion,” Hirono said.

Sasse tried Jan. 31 to hold a unanimous consent vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in the Senate following New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, signing a bill legalizing abortion up to birth in January and Virginia trying to pass similar legislation. However, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., objected.

Earlier Monday, the Knights of Columbus released a poll from Marist that found “Americans are now as likely to identify as pro-life, 47 percent, as pro-choice, 47 percent,” according to the Knights’ website.

The poll found that 34 percent of Democrats now identified as pro-life, up from 20 percent a month ago. Among Americans, “only 18 percent think abortion should be allowed at any time up until birth,” and that Americans against abortion “after 20 weeks, or overall, include: 59 percent of Democrats, 78 percent of independents and 82 percent of Republicans.”

In an op-ed published Feb. 12 in USA Today, Sasse wrote, “It should not be difficult for the members of the U.S. Congress to affirm that a child, outside the womb, deserves the protections of our law.”

“It should not be controversial to say that a child, cold and naked on a table, deserves to be treated with dignity and humanity,” he added.

It looks like the Dems have a border wall. The womb. Crossing the wall without permission ends in death.

A child is a big responsibility! Many years ago, before the lawless, filthy 1960s “hippie” youth rebellion– the common citizen was expected to obey the laws of our country, and abide by Christian morality, which is deeply imbedded in our Nation’s foundations. Subjects like abortion– baby killing!– are not for a common citizen to “decide for themselves.” Ridiculous! And no one in this world, has “reproductive rights and freedoms!” That is just ridiculous, immature “hippie baby-babble”– straight from the lawless, filthy gutters of society! Marriage and child-bearing are a big adult responsibility! And “responsibility” is the word these extremely immature people don’t want to hear!

Many long years ago, I knew a Catholic family, in which all of the children were high achievers in Catholic school. One of the girls, very pretty, was awarded a big, prestigious scholarship, to study in Europe. While there, she fell in love, made a big mistake– and got pregnant! The girl did not want to marry her boy friend. With her family’s help and support– she forfeited her scholarship, put her academic and career interests on hold, and came home to the U.S– and had the baby. Her family helped with mother-and-child, the child was well-educated in Catholic schools– and later, first the child– and next, the mother– ended up very successful! Baby always comes FIRST!! RESPONSIBILITY!!

And all the fake concern those who voted against this bill have for immigrant children. All they want the illegal immigrants for is to keep the abortion mills going. I just heard a Democratic female grilling a Republican congressman as to why he did not help an immigrant get access to abortion. They encourage them to come here full well knowing many of them will be raped along the way, but, oh well, it will keep the abortion money flowing and that seems all they really are interested in.

For fifty long years, the Bishops—and most priests– of California kept silent about the “Catholic” DEMs like Governor Jerry Brown who were the primary champions of baby killing for Planned Parenthood.

In fact, most Bishops actively sought to get their photos with pro-abort “Catholics” like Xavier Beccera (recently ABP Gomez of Los Angeles posed with him—with big smiles. Becerra is currently the chief prosecutor of David Daleiden, a nationally recognized champion of the unborn.

You must start asking every priest, every bishop whom you meet–“UNDER WHAT PARTY ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE? (They won’t tell you)

Unfortunately, Democrats have long been voting against providing care for newborns who survive abortion. The most egregious example of that unconscionable vote’s not coming back to haunt a politician is Barack Obama’s vote (or was it cast more than one time?) in the Illinois legislature, along the very same lines. Didn’t seem to to hurt him as a presidential candidate when 2008 rolled around.

He voted twice against such bills. Each time with some idiotic excuse.

I used the term “idiotic excuses” because Senator Obama was far too old and well educated to not have known better. He was also teaching his daughter’s to be irresponsible by example.

When you have the Catholic member of The View panel, Sunny Hostin, making excuses for them, it probably will not hurt their votes at all. Abortion is a non issue for a lot of people.
However, a pro-life Democrat would sweep the election in 2020.

I BET YOU THESE SAME PEOPLE WOULD NEVER TREAT THEIR DOGS OR OTHER ANIMALS LIKE THE WANT TO TREAT GOD’S LITTLE ONES AND IF ANYONE IN THE FUTURE VOTES FOR ANY OF THESE DEMOCRATS, THEY SHOULD THEN AVOID RECEIVING OUR LORD IN HOLY COMMUNION

Bishops say we should be horrified and angry. See what the bishops’ pro-life chairman said:
“That even one senator, let alone 44 senators voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, is an injustice that should horrify and anger the American people and commit us to decisive political action,” said Archbishop Joseph Naumann, chairman of the US bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities. “A vote against this bill is a vote to extend Roe v. Wade’s license for killing unborn children to killing newborn babies.”
