Things got heated Thursday at a protest in Chula Vista over a library’s Drag Queen Story Time.
Drag Queen Story Time, set to begin at the Otay Ranch Library September 10, inspired strong feelings on both sides of the aisle.
Roughly two dozen residents against the event said they were concerned it would sexually influence children.
As tensions mounted at Thursday’s protest, officers with the Chula Vista Police Department were forced twice to intervene.
The City of Chula Vista issued the following statement about the event:
The Chula Vista Public Library welcomes everyone, and our extensive programming includes and reflects the diverse communities we serve. Hosting drag queens to read and relate with children sends a message of acceptance and tolerance.

Continue to condemn our innocents to the fires of hell. Jesus said it well and spoke clearly what would happen to those who do.
The ALA (American Library Association) has been on the list of many organizations fighting pornography and obscenity, since they removed their good standards and proper censorship for literature, films, and all media, after the filthy “hippie” 1960s era. They are no longer a responsible organization, for Americans and their fanilies, in our communities! “Anything goes!” Even the “all inclusive” filth of the worst “dirty bookstores” in town! The liberal-leftist “hippie” ALA is SICK!!– and seriously poisoning all of our communities!
Oh for crying out loud. Why would anyone protest a children’s story hour at a library.
What’s wrong with you? This is a story hour read by men dressed as women and many of the books have very pronounced sexual overtones!
Yes! Drag Queens are gay men who dress up in provocative, sexy women’s clothes, and do entertainment acts of a sexual nature, in gay men’s bars and dirty strip joints! The LGBT San Francisco founders of this evil “story hour” admit that their goals are “grooming” children to accept this filth.
Gabriel – most kids I know “get” what dressing up is all about. But if it’s not for your kids, by all means don’t send them to the story hour. I don’t know about the sexual overtones. That’s not what I heard, but I think most of our best stories have sexual overtones. Thinking Adam and Eve. Aladin. Romeo and Juliet for starters.
Parents do not have to take their children to this activity at the library! These drag queens are seeking attention…and boy did they get some today. If no one shows up for their story time…after awhile the DQ’s will stop showing up.
Anonymous and Fred– Our American institutions in our communities, have a big responsibility to all of our people! You cannot place decent people and their children, in harm’s way.

Anonymous who is not brave enough to post your real name.
From the Brooklyn Public Library:
“Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models,” says a library writeup.
“Provide a positive queer role model and affirmation for teens of all genders and identities.”
Pictures of men in children laying on men wearing sexualized costumes… All this gives the lie to the fact that they are grooming kids for homo sex.
I don’t want this in my community even if my kids don’t attend. I don’t want anyones kids to attend.
Well, Keith, you don’t get to decide for everyone do you, what speech is permissible and what speech is not permissible. That is, after all, what the First Amendment is all about, isn’t it?
Anonymous, are you Catholic? Where is your moral conscience? No “First Amendment rights” for immoral people seeking to harm little children!— we have the duty to protect innocent little ones!
