The following comes from a May 16 story in the Bellingham (Washington) Herald.
An Everson man who impregnated a preteen girl and forced her to have an abortion must serve a six-year prison sentence, then leave the country.
Luis Gonzalez-Jose, 31, raped the girl at a home in rural Whatcom County while her mother was in the shower, according to charging documents filed in Whatcom County Superior Court.
He brought the girl to a Planned Parenthood clinic in August 2012. She told staff members that her 14-year-old boyfriend impregnated her, but she couldn’t give the boy’s name or address.
Six weeks after the abortion, the girl told a detective how she had really become pregnant. Gonzalez-Jose had insisted “it would be best for her” to not have the baby, according to the documents.
Gonzalez-Jose pleaded guilty to second-degree rape of a child in April. The girl’s family refused to cooperate with prosecutors, according to a Department of Corrections report.
The department evaluator agreed with the plea bargain, recommending a sentence of six years and eight months in prison, but only on the condition that Gonzalez-Jose can never return to the United States afterward. Otherwise, the report stated, a longer sentence would be appropriate.
Superior Court Judge Charles Snyder approved the plea deal this week.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement will ensure that Gonzalez-Jose is deported upon his release. For now, he’s locked up at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton.

This happens so often that it could be simply called routine. All this and hardly a mention of the life that was taken.
Might I ask the same things that the media asks of the Catholic Church?
Did the government of Mexico know that this man was a pedophile?
Did they cover it up?
Did they look the other way in “sending” him to the United States?
“The girl’s family refused to cooperate with prosecutors …” Why did the family refuse to cooperate, were they more protective of the of the girl’s rapist than of the underage daughter? Children’s Protective Services should have taken the child into protective custody immediately. That family will not provide the child with a safe, nurturing home where she will be taught moral values and her right to say “no” when she feels something is wrong. God help her.
I agree Sarah…this news is very puzzling to me….
And the list goes on….can we invoice Mexico for having to keep this monster in jail for 6yrs?….which will no doubt be followed by returning him across the border just in time for him to crawl back into the US and repeat the whole thing again!
alice you are right…..he may return illegally.
He might return legally, what with the sea change of immigration laws erupting now.
Not only that, but if the Demoncrats stay in power by hook or by crook, what is to say that he will actually be deported?
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Mr Fisher I didn’t consider that…I hope that justice will win here…this young girl needs real authoritative adults to help her…..I am concerned what is to come of her especially when she reaches her teenage years, which are the hardest these times.
This is disgusting! Send him to Mexico??? and what for???? SO most likely he will repeat the same assault on another innocent child! Our system is careless in protecting our families and our children. This is an injustice not only on the death of the unborn but also for this child….no one protected this child, not even stupid Planned Parenthood….this is a pattern with these current times….abortion has opened the door to these abuses and will continue….
“The girl’s family refused to cooperate with prosecutors, according to a Department of Corrections report.” We need more info! Why would this family not protect further this girl! I am so psst, I can’t stand wimpy parents….it makes me suspicious and makes me question their integrity as parents.
My Jesus, mercy.
