Throughout the country, universities have agreements with local Planned Parenthood abortion facilities to procure the tissue of aborted babies for their research programs. Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains has an agreement with Colorado State University in Fort Collins, for example, and invoices and emails show the link between Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast and the University of Texas Medical Branch. The bodies of babies aborted by Planned Parenthood in California, however, have been sold coast to coast with assorted tissue procurement companies acting as the middlemen between the abortion clinics and the researchers.

StemExpress procurement logs from December 12, 2012, December 13, 2012, and January 10, 2013 show that aborted baby parts from Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, specifically its San Jose and Fresno facilities, were sent to Colorado State University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the University of Massachusetts as well as to several California based research programs, including Stanford University. Emails and invoices reflect that the University of Connecticut regularly bought fetal brains from StemExpress. The San Jose and Fresno facilities advertise that they perform abortions up to 19 weeks 6 days LMP and 17 weeks 6 days LMP, respectively.

“We have already a relationship with ABR,” Dr. Katharine Sheehan, then Medical Director of Planned Parenthood Pacific Southwest, told Center for Medical Progress investigators. Advanced Bioscience Resources, or ABR, was selling fetal brains for $250 a piece as of January 1, 2015. ABR’s clients included the FDA, NIH, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Connecticut. Planned Parenthood Pacific Southwest, which covers San Diego and Riverside, performs abortions up to 24 weeks LMP.

The bodies of the babies aborted by Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties are collected by DaVinci Biosciences. DaVinci’s customers include Tufts University and Danone Singapore, according to its website. Price quotes sent to the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas show prices as high as $500 for a fetal liver and $750 for prenatal neural tissue. Planned Parenthood Orange and San Bernardino facilities perform abortions up to 23 weeks 6 days LMP and up to 20 weeks LMP, respectively.

“Novogenix is at [Planned Parenthood Los Angeles]. They have a corner of the lab, and they set up, come in with all their coolers, and handle all the tissue and everything,” Deborah Nucatola says in the full footage of the first Center for Medical Progress video. Novogenix’s website went offline in October 2015, but it used to advertise cells isolated from “elective terminations performed from 3.5-17.5 weeks of development,” specific regions of the brain, and specimens with genetic defects such as Trisomy 18 and 21. In addition to Novogenix’s ties with UCLA and USC, records obtained from University of Connecticut reflect that they have purchased from Novogenix. The Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Bixby Center performs abortions up to 24 weeks LMP.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris has refused to investigate or prosecute any of the organizations that deal in fetal tissue.
