More than 10,000 people have committed to pray the rosary and to fast on Fridays for the ideological conversion of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on the subject of abortion, the Benedict XVI Institute announced Tuesday.
“As of Saturday, October 9, we have 10,688 Catholics who have committed to praying one rosary each week and fasting on Fridays through the end of October,” said Maggie Gallagher, executive director of the Benedict XVI Institute. The institute is administering the “Rose and Rosary for Nancy” campaign with the support of Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, Pelosi’s bishop in San Francisco….
The initial call to pray a rosary and to fast for Pelosi came on Sept. 29, following the House of Representatives’ passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021. The bill, which is not likely to pass in the Senate, would codify the legal right to an abortion into law.
Pelosi championed the bill, despite her Catholic faith. In his message on Sept. 29, Cordileone singled her out as someone in need of ideological conversion on the issue of abortion.
“A conversion of heart of the majority of our Congressional representatives is needed on this issue, beginning with the leader of the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi,” he said.
“Speaker Pelosi speaks fondly of her children. She clearly has a maternal heart. Pope Francis has called abortion murder, the equivalent of hiring a hitman to solve a problem,” Cordileone said….
Two days after the initial call for prayer, 1,000 roses were delivered to Pelosi’s office in San Francisco. Gallagher called the number of people who signed up to pray for Pelosi “remarkable,” and said she hoped more people would commit to prayer and fasting as the month continues….
The above comes from an Oct. 12 story on the site of the Catholic News Agency.
This is beautiful. I hop she notices!
Archbishop Cordileone tries to show love to her by having people pray to change her. he is applauded.
Pope Francis meets with her and shows her love and he is disparaged.
It seems to me this is a case of “how does one love”?
Francis did not even suggest she repent, Cordileone is publicly praying for it. Jesus met with sinners, and always told them to repent, His meetings were not for the optics.
I thought it was a private meeting. Do you have a source for what was said?
Even if these prayers are not efficacious for Pelosi’s conversion, God can apply their grace and intent however He chooses. They are not wasted prayers.
She’s already Catholic so what would she convert to?
Pelosi is to Catholic what Bruce Jenner is to woman – fake.
When we pray for conversion, we pray for abandonment of sin and error and in increase in holiness and virtue especial faith, hope and charity.
Reversion would be a better explanation.
Nancy is in error.
A fallen away Catholic.
Receiving our Lord while defying the teaching, a non negotiable teaching, is a Catholic in poor standing.
You can not support abortion on demand and call yourself a Catholic in good standing while holding public office..hence you promoting a scandal within the Holy Catholic Church.
Why?
Because other Catholics will believe it’s ok to vote for pro-death politicians and continue to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.
You might receive the Eurchrist but your Not in Communion. Best to reconcile with God..ask forgiveness…stop supporting abortion…make your decision known to the public if your a politican..then approach the communion rail.
Kneeling, receive our wounded Lord and never promote the false narrative that women have the Right to kill their children. Never.
If you’re a post abortive mom know that God will forgive you..even if you’ve committed numerous abortions. If your truly sorry He will give you a new life. He loves you.
Its called CONVERSION to KNOW her faith She is Catholic by name only
Its the Church Jesus Christ founded and died for She needs to LIVE HOLY scripture
Here is an interesting link about Pelosi and Pope Francis:
https://remnantnewspaper.com/web/index.php/headline-news-around-the-world/item/5640-critical-mass-bergoglio-and-pelosi
The Remnant is a schismatic group. Please don’t peddle their newspaper nor the Catholic Identity Conference here.
If you swallow the stuff in that article, you are on the road to Perdition.
I think they are sincere but they are sincerely wrong and this is serious error and scandal, possibly heresy.
Did you read it?
I gave it a cursory read the first time and have gone back to read it more carefully. Obviously, the rhetorical style interferes with the substance quite a bit. So I am trying to separate the exaggeration and inaccuracy from whatever the author is trying to relate but…sheesh. Scary that so many people buy into this.
Is it satire? Did I just not get the joke the first time?
Well cd, don’t say no one told you.
No one told me…what?
That the Catholic Church needs to be destroyed?
The devil has always thought this.
Or did you mean something else from the op-ed?
I have studied it. The whole thing is ridiculous. I don’t know what is going on in Japan but I expect this is somebody who is pro-life, attends the Traditional Latin Mass and Is ticked off that the Pope met with Nancy Pelosit.
There are a few sentences that are true: No prayer is ever wasted, no petition to Our Father goes unheard.
The article is blasphemous, schismatic, heretical and filled with lies who the author rightly points out all come from the evil one.
He is correct though that God will not be mocked.
Wow based on the negative reactions to Don’t Peddle and CD, I think I know who mostly reads this website.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Of course the readership is much larger than just those who comment.
I feel like I am watching Martin Luther’s errors spread. He wanted to reform the Church, too.
Nancy: Choose Heaven & nor hell. Choose Life not death! Remember, you were once in the womb. You’re in my Rosary intentions.
Waste of money.
How ’bout “Prevagen and Retirement for Nancy.”
Priests are absolutely prohibited from disclosing the contents of the confessional. Priests ought to be prohibited from conducting “conversions” of individuals in public, which is essentially what the Archbishop is engaging in.
Does the Ab have a right to publicly advocate for better abortion policies? Of course! Advocating with an individual politician for better abortion policies, of course! Of course.
But public prayers for an individual person’s “conversion”, regardless of their status in life, is as odious as the same priest disclosing in public the sins of those confessing to them. This is only slightly better than a medieval Inquisition.
Rubbish! The woman is a public figure whose actions are diametrically opposed to Church teaching, everybody knows it, she refuses to accept it. She is of Cordileone’s flock, he is charged by duty of his office, to try his best to bring her back into the fold.
She has made her sins public, that’s all on her, his pastoral actions should shake her into the reality that her soul is in mortal jeopardy.
Leave your Inquisition nonsense in your Protestant pew.
So you admit this is a medieval inquisition. Interesting. Sad.
No stinky roses, I called your response rubbish and the inquisition quip nonsense. Do read more carefully.
We are always challenged in our faith. Speaker Pelosi will suffer with finding less love, more criticism, the loss of status, the loss of power, ridicule. We all should be willing to suffer for the Kingdom, for the will of God. And she should not have gotten herself in this position.
Be mindful of how difficult you are to correct. Think about your sins and how difficult they are to eradicate.
Every prayer, God gives her the grace to convert. She is struggling or she should be.
How many of us would suffer great loss in giving up a sin? Mostly we would find support (not always-like a wife who wants to go off the pill and use NFP), but our losses would be minimal compared to the upending of Nancy Pelosi’s world.
She can do it. Keep praying for her.
And please be there for her when she converts. Don’t hold her past against her.
Think about why she was so emotional and overwhelmed upon meeting the Holy Father. She should feel that way if she meets you, too.
The examples of Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, Martin, Horan, Stowe and so many others are pretty strong counterarguments to grace. Unless they are all reprobate, which possibility nobody talks about anymore.
Grace can be refused. Grace can be lost.
Malodorous Roses, i agree that we should be praying for all not just Nancy Pelosit.
I understand your objection to this campaign.
I will have to pray over what you have said.
